After a successful summer crop of squash and popular demand from adventurers who enjoy collecting pollen, Gardener Fordson has decided to grow more squash for the fall season. This time, Gardener Fordson has invested in new and improved magical seeds, and needs more pollen to successfully harvest his crop.
Buzz the Cat is back in the villages of Aden and Elmore, faithful as ever, to recruit some help gathering pollen to reap the fall harvest.
The Fall Harvest
Pollen will fall from defeated monsters that are near your level of experience. Trade your stock of pollen to Buzz the Cat for enchanted seeds and grow your own magical squash. After planting a seed, feeding the Young Squash enough pollen will make it grow. You must then break it open to harvest your prize! Hitting a squash before it has fully grown will cause it to wilt from lack of nutrition, so be careful. Also, since these magical squash tend to flee, crack it open before it gets away.
Because of Gardener Fordson’s new seeds, Squash Seeds can grow into Low Quality Squash, High Quality Squash, or King Squash. Large Squash Seeds can now turn into one of two types of special squash: Large Squash, or Emperor Squash! These can't be pried open with a regular weapon. Chronicle souvenir weapons must be used, and these large squash require the help of many people in order to break it before it escapes. Chrono Darbukas can be purchased from Buzz the Cat during this event in exchange for your gathered pollen.
Prizes can include potions, armor and weapon enchantment scrolls, soul crystals, and more. Remember, you must work to break the squash open quickly or the squash will vanish.

I don't think you'll find much sympathy for those that hold a castle from the genpop. But have faith!!! Methinks the castleholders will be alright. Bring on the event....

Now, is this going to be 5 actual days of pollen dropping, with additionals days of the cats hanging around to trade in the pollen?
Or is this going to be like the last event, where we think one thing (5 days of pollen), but the pollen only drops for say, 3 days, and the additional 2 days of the event is just the time the cats will stick around?
Every time I look at this event, it becomes shorter and shorter. I don't think that an event which "begins at approximately 10:00 PM CDT on November 22, 2006" can really be said to start on the 22nd since it only occurs for 2 hours of that day, and now we have an event which is only going to last us not 5 days, but 4 days and 2 hours.
You know we will like this event, why cut it short? Because the castle owners are complaining? Pah to them. Since I'm the one calculating the manor income in our castle (Schuttgart), I can tell you one thing: selling EWAs for 4M would simply lose us money, no matter how long we'll be doing it. Castle maintenance is expensive. Forget it. You want them cheaper than the current market price? Join a castle-owning alliance and show you'll willing to work for it.
That said, I'm looking forward to the event, not because of the rewards, but because of the great fun of smashing pumpkins together. :)

So just because you prioritised XP gain over adena gain you should be able to get your scrolls cheaper?
You can farm XP or you can farm adena - that's how the game is set up. You decided for the XP and against the adena. Live with the consequences and stop whining, it was your decision.

They just keep making it shorter and shorter until its like Lin I where you had 2-3 day events and had to play 24-7 to do any good in the events >.< They just keep taking the fun out of it and expect people not to have a life, job, or any thing else. Those are choices you make and if you dont like it thats just the way it is. I made 60 mil in manoring in two weeks, I can buy my own ewa there are manyw ays to get ewa's and if you want to be small clan learn some other methods.

What's everyone getting from these? Maybe same as last time but share share share!!!! Make the people who can't play drool over something.
halped my clannie with a big one, got a low grade, which paid out roughly the same thing.
takes about 10-15 minutes of hunting to get enough pollen for a small one, perhaps an hour or so for a big one, perhaps less if you and friends put their heads together. you need about 4-5 people B grade or higher to open a big one with chrono weapons, perhaps more if you are only d grade or less.
what? we opened large ones 2 ppl, ~lvl 55. level/equipment doesnt matter, u always do 1 damage to the squash. got some ewc/ewd/eac/ead combos, gsaps, gmhps, worst case was 2 A-cry
and pollen drops WAAAAAAAAAY more in the evening, last night got like 50 for an hour, this morning only 7 for the same time

I have no college today and tommorow due to thanksgiving so I can play in the first part of the day. The decent drop rates will be started about the time the turkey will be ready and my relatives will come over. And tommorow I might jsut go out somewhere in the evening and miss the event again.

Rules says do not take advante of exploits or 3rd party programs, or u will be baned, witch i agree!!! But we can conclue that beeing NA in this server is taking advantage of something(time) to make profit.. wouldnt that be cheating? or Exploiting?

Whine, whine, whine, NC is trying to do something fun , give free gear, and most of you all whine! I have hunted maybe six hours and have had 150 or so pollens drop, imo thats about the same as last years event. My times were day and night and will admit it seems to drop slower in the day, but pollen did drop.
You should all know by know, if youve played long enough, that nothing drop related in L2 is set and even, regardless of events ! Nothing in L2 is fair, so deal with it! Just go kill some more mobs.

Well who plays on the two euro servers that can validate what times are good there? American servers should obviously go with american player times and those that are mad because they joined before there was a euro server that is a whole 'nother issue altogether.

if you level on ONE SPOT they drop decreases :) i have checked this many time, and just i change the spot pollen begin drops 1-4 mobs, after leveling 15 minutes on one spot drop decreases and 40-50 mobs for 1 pollen.

I started out getting 1 per 150 mobs, then after a while I got more.
I just had a spoiling round with my dwarf. It took me about half and hour of constant spoiling on light blue and green mobs to the point i didn't have enough mana left to spoil.
And i got zero pollen drops in that time. I know the drop rate is low, but is it possible to have a minus drop rate on pollen? :(
Spoiling mobs seems to affect the normal drop rate, does it do the same to the event drop rate?
Haven't noted any changes on regular/quest/event drops due to using spoil. I have noted that the peak versus prime drop rates on pollen is inexcusable though. During the afternoon/early evening hours pollen drop rates are atrocious. 1 pollen every 2 hours? Complete BS!
Yesterday night (between 10pm and 3am est) hunting with lvl 31 wizzy I was getting about 8-10 per buffround, today in the daytime I'm getting 2-3 perbuffround in same spot with same toon..
Do scrolls drop from small squash? I did 3 on my BH last night and got 2 EWC and several EAC's, among other little things.. today me and my bro both did about 15 between us (small squash) and never got a single scroll. Now 2 things here, 1) I had extremely good luck or 2) I was dreaming, even though my brother saw it pop up in party chat.
All in all I did about 3-4 large, nothing better than EWC's though, 1 EAB. I'll try a few more tomorrow.
They increase according to time. When the american primetime was rolling around I started getting alot more, collected 300 pollen in the span of a couple of hours.
I played at prime time last night and got maybe 6 in few hours :/ The prizes also seem really wack, I do get high quality small pumpkins very often but I get anywhere from 1 EAD, to 1 EAC, to 1 EWD, or 2 swift attack pots. It's very random. I'm happy with the drops but I wish it was a little more consistant.
So far I've noticed that large low quality and high quality tend to give only D and C enchants, with the high quality giving the occasional B enchants. King Squashes tend to give out lots of enchant scrolls, D, C, B and even the occasional A enchants. Just saw one an hour ago give something like 6 EAD, 4 EAC, 2 EAB, 2 EWB, and 2 EWA, plus a lvl 10 green.
Smalls squashes and all the other types seems to give potions or various types all the time. Only high quality or better small squashes I've noticed would give D scrolls and if your lucky, C scrolls.
Best to hold onto your pollen until you have enough to get a large seed.
Oh yeah, peak hour drops is definetly what the event is going on. In 3 days of grinding on my main in the mornings, I only have about 65 pollen. In 3 hours of farming during peak hours on my lvl 38 nuker last night, I got over 100.
Well after lvling for way too many hours, i finally cashed in my pollen for seeds and broke pumkins for a few hours last night. I had nearly 1k of pollen. Got around 200 small seeds and went to work, leaving small ones that failed on the first or second pollen.
Ended up with this:
73 G. magic haste pots
141 G swift attack pots
154 G haste pots
45 Quick Heal pots
48 EAD, 7 EWD
30 EAC, 5 EWC
5 EAB, 3 EWB
25 A crystals
1 green, 1 blue, 1 red Stage 7
1 red, 1 blue Stage 8
1 red Stage 11
Some thing i noticed were:
all my soul crystals came from low quality pumpkins, even the stage 11. They Seemed to drop from low quality that failed more than 2 times. so leaving pumpkins that fail after the first 2 pollens might not be the best idea if your looking for weapon crystals.
All my EAB and EWB Scrolls came from High Quality or Low quality Pumpkins. Only one EAB from a King squash.
King squash give more enchants by far, especially c grade. High quality Squash seem to yield more D grade scrolls.

So then why calling it a "5 days long event" It started at 10pm, so in that "day" we had just 2 hours, well, it actualy was 1 hour for me since I live in NY. And ended at 10am, which also far from a full day. Can you make it other way around next time. Please :o.

I didn't get very much pollen while hunting (under 50), so in order for me to really participate in the event I bought a 1000 or so pollen from people selling in town the past couple days.
This is what I got from all kinds of squash I broke open:

Lvl 7 blue

Used about 12 EAD on my elven jewels for my dwarf alt, and 3 EWC for her War Axe. Looking at all that, I think I made a pretty decent profit with this event.

Well this means that the far ppl are from NA less pollens they got, because, guess what.. ppl do sleep.. and cant be awake when NA most population is :S

During the day time on sunday when Lionna was "normal" I was getting noticably less pollens then on every night of those I was playing during this event even so it was also "normal" during the nights.. :confused:

I agree. You really have to put that question in, and not only "did you participate" "will you participate again" etc.

That may work perfectly in Korea where everyone on the server is from the same time zone. It really sucks when our servers are international.

This makes me a sad panda. I was out of town visiting my family for the entirety of this event. I got a few pollens last night after I got home and was hoping to get a few more tonight after work but I see the drops stopped this morning. Boo! :(
The way i see it is you have to take the event for what it was. If you wanted to really make some money you hunted during peak pollen drops. For me that meant staying up or getting up at times i normally wouldnt.
I did though and changed 20 mil into 90 mil so i am very,very happy.
The way this event worked for me was i planted seeds and started feeding em pollen. If after the first pollen i got an explosion or whatever it is when the pollen didnt sit right with the pumpkin, i left it and planted another.
I basically stopped feeding pollin to any gourd that failed on the first or third attempt, for some reason every time i failed on the second pollin, the rest worked and i ended with a high quality squash.
I tried feeding every pumpkin using 250 pollen to 5 for 40 pumpkin and got 2 king, 5 high quality.
Did the same with 250 pollen but left squash that failed on 1 or 3 and got 10 king and 22 high quality. 90 mil i made, spent 18 mil buying pollen but good return if you ask me.
4 million to 5.5 million adena was the going price for EWA for much of Chronicle 3 on Lionna. And even for some of C4 if memory serves me right. While the price did rise during C4, it wasn't until closer to the end of C4 that it became overly high.

Are you sure the tiny squash make the emperor or king? It says

and yeah, the less than 4 days and horrid drop rates suk :( I really love this event, it's my fav otherwise :) hope it can be fixed for next time :eek: its sad that it's so limited, you almost have to quit your job and play 7/24 to get anything lol

Well I still feel that basing drops on either population or time is both not being fair to the players on any server. Not everyone (Be it USA or Europe based) can be on at the peek moment of either population or time and as such is penalised in getting a decent amount of event items.
In the three days where I played a bit (well more on weekend then in week as I had no holidays) I managed to gather 15 pollen...Considering the amount of topics that were opened on this subject I don't think I'm the sole person not really happy with the set-up on drop rate based on pupolation. A game is supposed to give each and every player a fair chance no matter how many players there are in the server or not. Every single player should be able to enjoy all content at an even rate.
I've been in LII from the start and have had more then enough event experience and I must say that this is the first event where drop rate has been significantly rare compared to other years. Last squash event I was able to collect enough pollen for 7 to 8 Large squashes in a week lasting event, which says enough if you know I played the exact same amount of time this time and only got what I stated above. I rarely complain about any feature but I feel this wasn't really fair towards the playing comunity.
Just my two cent, I'm sure there will be a few smashing my head instead of a pumpkin for thinking what I feel is unfair towards the majority.
In any case I still like the event idea and hope there will be more to come, but maybe get the rates leveld out ;)

I play during off-peak time on gustin as I live in europe. The amount of pollen I got was 79. That's from playing 10am-5pm and sometimes 9pm-12pm (gmt +1 ) every day. So by playing at least 10 hours a day without going afk during that time for breaks or w/e I only got 79. I really feel that's far too low. I'd appreciate it if pollen distribution rate would be the same around the clock. Yes farmers will get more but then farmers will get more no matter what. At least regular players won't be left out that way.

I'm so glad the event done with.. I spent a bit of money off the thousands the farmers managed to get sadly.. But in the end I did pretty well and now have stuff to sell the next month. Hey, it was the only way I could enjoy the event as the pollen wasn't dropping enough for me either and only managed to gather arond 120 total pollen on my own.
I know I don't say this often, nor do I like saying it, but this event sure made a lot of farmers happy. This one farmer had to have made nearly a billion adena as his/her shop was bought out of 5,500 pollen several times a day, and each time it was cleaned out, a few hours later there would be another 5,500 pollen waiting to be bought. Meh, I don't like supporting them as much as the other guy, but I had fun which is all that matters I guess.
I was on alot during the peak times, except i took i break on Sunday. I think my total was about 1k pollens. I was getting about 25 a buff round between 10:00 PM and 3:00 AM EST. Mistryl already said somewhere that it was based on population, so, im assuming that the population was either low, or high, at this times, depending on how they do it.
I dont know how that relates to everyone else, but it was worth the lack of sleep i got over the weekend ;)
I missed most of the event because of the holidays and getting some last minute work done so I could enjoy them- picked up 2 pollens on one of my younger characters and sold them for 5k each- that was the event for me- didn't even see a squash squashed. *shrugs*
Just wondering if a dagger with prophecy buffs can crack a large one solo. Anyone know? Maybe wielding those chrono thanksgiving turkey legs (hey that's what they look like).
Yep, its only crono wearpons, and attack speed is only thing that counts. Pocibly full buffed tyrant with crono fists and totem for attack speed can do it solo, doubit a dagger can..
