Player Questions Started Last reply 8 posts
I left around the end of C4 and now I'm considering returning. I reactivated my account for a month to see if it works out. Anyway my question is.
Since before I played mostly caster classes (PS/SH/SE) I want to try a fighter one now.
I narrowed down my choices to PR or BD.
What I want to do with the class? well. main things:
1. be able to help party with more than just pure damage (clearly BD)
2. Have a chance in 1on1 PvP (as group PvP is governed by completely different rules) (and here PR has advantage)
My point is. How bad is it for a bladedancer in 1 on 1 PvP? in a scale of:
1. omg reroll something useful
2. don't expect to win much but still lose a lot
3. not too bad but not too good either
4. great, master it and you're going to have lots of fun
5. you rock everyone's socks off.

I think you would like the BD the most, its not the greatest at PVP, but for the most part if you know how to play your class you will do fine. Now, the PR will do tons of damage but you will not be grouping too much with him. If you go PR, get yourself a buffer to party with.
The following examples are based SOLELY on my own experinence, not on anything that I have heard or seen. They are also based on 1v1 against same level toons

BD vs BD - This is fun, it's anyones guess on the winner, and who gets a couple extra crits during the fight

BD vs SWS - This one can depend on how the SWS is armed. Two handed sword, your probably going to win, one handed sword with shield and you still can but it will be harder.

BD vs Dagger - Pre-C5 I would take my chances and gave as good as I got. In C5, daggers have some skills that you don't want to land on you so your best bet might be:
/useskill arrest
/runaway and let a nuker friend cook him for you

BD vs Archer - after level 56 they can't kite you anymore (arrest ftw) so you root him and depending on how much damage he does before you get to him, there should be little bits of bowman spread out on the ground.

BD vs Orc Destroyer -
/useskill arrest
/runaway
Even if you damage him enough before he kills you, once he gets to 30% and hits frenzy, if you don't kill him before he hits you again....you're getting a free trip to town.

BD vs Tank - Well, you can kill one but if they land shield stun you're done! If the stun doesn't land though, you do have enough hit power to work them down and kill them.

BD vs Glad - might be a bad example. I think I've been lucky or something. I've killed every same level glad that I've ever fought and I don't think it's supposed to be that way. I think maybe I was fighting Glads that didn't know how to play the toon correctly.

BD vs Nuker - hmm....depends on if they see you coming. If they do, your most likley going to be toast. You just don't have the mdef to handle that kind of damage. However, if they don't see you coming, or you do manage to get within hitting distance of them, you might just win:
SH = Glass Cannon
SS = papertowel
SPS = Wet tissue paper
You hit hard enough and fast enough that you will prolly cancel a couple of thier spells and they will die under your swords.

Haven't fought any of the Orc mytic classes or the Orc Tyrant so can't report there.

Point? The BD isn't really a 1v1 pvp toon and never will be. Mass pvp is a bit different, your fast and hit hard, so you can do pretty well there.

Now for the good part:

The BD is the ultimate party animal. Once you get to level 58 and above, you will be able get into ANY kind of party there is, even a pole party (though you can get killed real easy in one of these)! You will not have any trouble finding a party as a BD. At level 58 and above you have dances that will help any class in the game.

My own opinion? If someone told me that I could play this game but could only pick and play 1 class.....it would be the BD!

That's the reason that I became a BD.
And apart from the above after lvl 58 u can even party with ppl 5,7 maybe even 10 lvl higher or more since u wont learn any really usefull dances until 74lvl.
Take the BD u ll be into pretty much everything :)
