The Death Penalty and Souless

I'm wondering what other peoples' perceptions are of how the new death penalty/absence of drops has affected the souless population, especially in catas.

I've found that they're much more open about where they hunt now, and less likely to leave a room, even if you ask. I've also found that there's more of them. I can't hnt in witches solo now, as all the starter rooms are taken.

Any thoughts on whether this is a step forward or back?
forward
game shouldnt be designed around bots ans what will inconvinience them the most
so having the bots not worry of dropping and taking more rooms is a step forward ?

Change your herbs provider.

Games shouldn't be designed around bots that's sure. But they should be designed around players. And thus removing the weight of bots. The change of drop policy obviously removed the only reason/benefit we had to train them.
Now they prosper more easily.
I could easily make 4/5 mils a day from training farmers back in CT. That was good money by then...
Now we can't do jack.

I don't know about that. As far as I'm concerned, making them move off my XP or farming spot is all the reason I ever needed to train them.

... or real players, for that matter.
thats right we should make it so you can earn adena from bots so you dont have to focus your efforts elsewhere :/
screw the real players that are now able to xp with items it took them months to earn without haveing a heart attack every time their hp drops below 90%
You could still train them to stop them. Not being able to make their quotas for the day might still hurt a bit.

Also, there have been less of them. I am certain of that.

Incidentally, NPR had a interview with a guy who wrote a book on the whole virtual currency/item selling world.

If I find it I will post information. From the interview it seemed interesting.

may i know wat is the title of this book?
forgive me, but what is the death penalty? has it changed? i havent played in a few months and as far as i know its still the same.
You no longer drop items, instead you have a risk of getting a 10% stat loss when you die and its permanent until removed.

And I think its a step forward too.

And I think its a step towards wow too.

corrected
Actually its a step towards UO, because UO had this way before WoW did.
id prefer no stat change and a chance of dropping items. More profitable to train farmers/bots/other people

Nah. UO ain't mainstram and NC would kill to make L2 mainstream.
Even kill L2's gameplay... which they do about every chronicle or so...
