Hi, I am kinda new to the game and i was wondering what it means to box? thanks :)
To box means that you have a second account that holds a second toon which you place on your main toon for either buffing or healing or assisting you while you level up the main toon. It's having a second toon without life played help. Some people even box more then one toon on them.

I hope that clarifies the term 'boxing' which appears in many topics on this forum.
you can box multiple toons and one or more computer, i do probly 3-4 on my one computer, it's not hard cause they most just buff or heal, but when playing my archer, i only box one as it's alot harder
Just don't get "box"ing confused with "bot"ing. :)
Well I've never boxed any toons to my main in the past 3 years I play this game :)

Which shows it's not a must f you have the patience to play it the regular way and to make connections with other players....It's an MMO (multi player massive online) for a reason ;)

Very True!!
Then again I'm very shy :p
after 4-5 months I started to box a buffer...a self buffer is the best I think, they dont whine, complain, they buff on time and they dont give fighters ACUMEN. That it was kinda hard to find a live buffer now-a-days within 9 levels.
Hey, I like getting Acumen on my BD! Makes me able to use my drain again sooner.

I'd still prefer a live player over a silent one that follows people around, any day of the week.

Most of the Buffers who make this mistake is because most have been boxed and suddenly need to react on a group and buff...But what, who? when? where? They have no clue (maybe you have so congratz on that) and I've seen it happen way too many times during Raids on Raid bosses...

To give and racher FULL mystic buffs + fighter melee buffs :s EUHM now that says somethig does it :s

I've always worked with LIFE healers/buffers and I've never had to complain about them. If you'r on sieghardt and come across Orvieta, Phaeri, Prodasnakura? Tiffy10 or MysticMeya (there are more but just give some exemples) you'll see that many out there in life are willing to buff and help, they don't whine and they actualy know what they are doing ;)

most have been boxed

I've not played with a bad buffer who came out of boxing.

I've played with plenty bad 'player' buffers who just didn't know A from B with their own class.

In short - it doesn't matter whether the character is run on a first or second account. It depends 100% on the player.
Then I'm sorry you came across so many bad players...I can't complain I'm afraid
I'm not complaining. ;) Someone who I don't feel plays their class well won't want to party me again, and it will be mutual.

So I honestly can't say there's a problem for me here at all - I'm not short on people to party with, just short on the energy of actually partying. ;)
