What kind of difference can "+4 INT" make ?

"+4 " seems a small number but I dont know how does it count towards spell damage ...

would u prefer demon set (+4 INT but - HP) or Karmian set (+ 15% casting speed ) ?

thank you
Demon set with acumen weapon.

+4 INT = +8% M Attk, thats a big difference between 2 or 3 shotting mobs.
+4INT is closer to 16% MAtk on most casters, although the numbers vary slightly.

This does however boil down to roughly 8% more damage per hit - nothing to scoff at if you're trying to two-shot something.
Dark elf, INT +4 +29,37% MAtk
Human, INT +4 +25,2% MAtk
Light elf, INT +4 +20,97% MAtk

i notice youre a necromancer.

using a demon set and acumen weapon, an additional +4 into-4men, and +4wit-4men will make your cast speed SANS BUFFS/POTIONS 600+ and your Matk 700+

if youre trying to CurseDeathLink mobs for a 1-hit win, this is a great setup. just make sure you perform the following sequence to 95% guarantee survival for you while EXPing; use Body to Mind, get your HP down to Flashing, start your CDL cast, use an HP potion and start Vamp Claw.

should your CDL fail, your vamp claw should finish off the mob and restore your HP to a safe level.

rinse, repeat.

with demon you have -hp, which is great for CDL :)

but be warned: its not called the Suicide Suit for nothing :)
Nukes dont fail anymore.
Having a -hp set only makes CDL less effective as the damage is based on the how low your HP is compared to it's maximum.

My CDL does alot more damage if I have 1 hp whilst buffed with Bless The Body (ie 1hp out of 2200) for example then it does when I'm at 1 hp without (ie 1hp out of 1900)
Thats something new, from what I've ben told it all depence on the % of your HP.

Ofcorse, as I doubht you nuke with 1hp or so, rater around 20-50 hp, and if you got 2200 hp thats a closer % then having 1900. So more or less if you have 1 HP no matter what HP I'm sure the damage is the same.
Any have a link to a guide on tattoos/dyes and so forth? I don't really have a good idea on how to go about making one. I see the items in the store but don't know the specifics.

Its indicated on the dye itself...

Nukes dont fail anymore.

i beg to differ. Blazing circle USUALLY fails on green 1/2 hp mobs. nukes still fail.
Yes, it is based on actual number, not %. Can't prove it anymore but I noticed it when CDLing orcs in the cemetery. Thanks to owning SoES with BtB5. Difference was noticeable (without BtB 2 CDLs barely killed an orc, with BtB I could cast second nuke with half HP)

been leveling my nuker from 1 to 33 so faar, havent been failing any spells yet
use flamestrike much?

try it.

betcha 1 mil adena u fail it every other cast when cast on multiple mobs.

main nukes dont usually fail, no. aoe nukes still fail OFTEN.
Back on topic, all mages should use +4Int-4Men, +4Wit-4Men and +4Con-4Str. If you use anything other you're just plain silly.
+4CON/-5STR if at all.

DEX is a viable alternative for PvE - it makes the difference between outrunning a fair amount of mobs or not, an extra point of WIT or INT is also viable in PvE.

In PvP, I suppose there's little that can offer serious competition to the +CON in the fourth slot though.
Con has its advantages in PvE over dex for mages imo or the other extra point in INT or WIT.

Carry more supplies, have better damage when CDLing, more stun resist, more hp for taking hits. I think the advantages of having CON dye over Dex or another +1 to Wit and Int far outweigh the pros to using the other dyes, PvE or PvP.
Not all mages have CDL - I will agree that on a necromancer or SH, I would not seriously consider the +DEX, although maybe the WIT if I was determined not to touch CDL.

For a sorc or spellsinger though - meh. Carrying supplies alone just doesn't seem worth it, can just get compressed packages instead.
...more stun resist, more hp for taking hits.

What would Dex give you for PvE, being able to pick up drops faster?
if you are a nuker and letting stun mobs even hit you once, you are doing something wrong.
How about stunshot? even level 40 orc archers have it.
dex adds to shield block rate which is about the only way a mage can beat an archer
also makes melee cry like little girls while you kite them around with 10 extra speed

main nukes dont fail anymore which makes cdl more like swatting flies than the original high sp xping

correct
if you have 2k hp and get down to 200 hp you might hit for 2k damage
if you get 2.5k from btb and get down to 200 hp you might hit for 2200

if you are a nuker and letting stun mobs even hit you once, you are doing something wrong.

Hyperbole aside....

It happens. Within the context of doing everything right, you can still be stunned as a nuker under some circumstances.

I'm sure plenty of mages will attest to that.

That's why +CON dye is probably the best dye to have in that 3rd slot for a mage. It makes Demon Set immediately viable due to the increase in HP. It gives more HP for B2M, and so I've heard, also helps yield more damage when CDLing. And at C grade, the boost in carry load helps when you're carting around all of that C-blessed sps. Greater compressed packages anyone?

+DEX is a viable alternative for PvE

I put +4 DEX on my SE. It's the only way the buffbot could keep pace with the faster moving HE, SK, BD and AW.

Run, Forrest! Run!!!

if you are a nuker and letting stun mobs even hit you once, you are doing something wrong.

If you are a nuker and you waste that buff slot on a Dex tatoo you are doing something wrong.
+CON is only necessary if you're getting into trouble in PvE.

+DEX helps you exp a tiny bit faster (+WIT or +INT probably better), and does, actually, help at avoiding the emergencies during which you might need +CON.

No, definitely NO debate for PvP.

But PvE?

my nuker has con, not dex. what im saying its not a must. yes, if you pvp, you need it, if you pve, you dont. I never needed it, but I still have it, cuz I dident care to change it. but I did rather have +1 int or wit instead of +4 dex.
