Ok so its 12:15 CST and we still have novembers heroes. So is this an early xmas present to our november heroes ro do we ahve another 3 wks of dealing with them.
"We know abot this problem and we are working on it. I cant give you ETA or any further information. When it will be repaired we will inform you (or maybe not)"
The funny part is I don't think they actually fixed it the first time. Was probably a temporary solution and they've just run out of time. Now it just looks messy unless they play this off as compensation for the missing hero weeks last month. But who is going to get shorted when they finally fix the problem and change the end of the period to the way it used to be?
I'm sorry for the recent problems with the Hero system -- I know this can be frustrating. :( We are looking into this now, and more details will be posted as soon as they're available.
as the points you get lose is based on total amount of yours or the oponent i don't see how a GM should be able to role them over into december ranking
they did not even manage last month to pay out Hero points only once
Instead of saying we're fixing it (I realise it takes time to fix, however laughable it is you're even in this situation) perhaps answer some questions as to how the fix will work when it's implemented, rather than patching it and having us figure out what you did after.
The main question needing answering here is will December's fights pre-fix be counted or not?
Mistryl, will the competitions for tonight be counted for the previous (still running) november competitions or for december?
It certain isn't fair to add extra days onto the end of an olympiad period after-the-fact, because your clan's strategy for olympiads definately changes when there's little time left. It would be like adding 2 minutes onto the end of a basketball game-- after the final buzzer sounded.
It's pretty obvious to me, november cycle hasnt ended yet, and we still have our november points and stats, so im pretty sure it will affect november rankings.
so here we are, sitting, waiting, 90 minutes from the next round of olympiad fights, and we don't know if they will count for november, december, or not at all. There is definately a sense of urgency in the situation that requires more than a "we'll inform you as soon as we can" answer. Right now, here's all we know:
- Hero competition for last month was broken, something related to daylight saving time,
- Shortly after, the hero system was disabled.
- Little news for the next 2 weeks regarding the problem
- Announcement comes that the heros will be patched (fixed?) during the 11/21 server patch which reads as follows:
An issue that affected the Heroes for the month of November has been corrected. Heroes who have not yet claimed their Olympiad Passes should speak to the Grand Olympiad Manager. The December Olympiad should also be running correctly.
-It is almost 6:00 est now, 12/1, and the december olympiad is certainly not running correctly, without any official response as to what will happen to the matches fought between today and when the problem is patched/fixed. I can see 3 possible results:
1. matches count for november- This would be unfair, as it would have changed drastically what strategies clans used in the olympiad, as the competition system encourages "trading" between friendly players/clans to maximize results. Like I said before, it would be akin to adding 2 minutes to the end of a basketball-- after the final buzzer sounded and half of your team has fouled out.
2. matches count for december- this would be expected, except that the olympiadstatus currently reflects the scores from november, and has a huge influence over how the competition is played out, especially for classes that are low on points from november, and risk losing 2 or 3 times and not being able to compete anymore.
3. The matches don't count- This would be unfair to anyone that competed between now and the fix/patch, which has an 'indefinite' timetable on the fix.
None of these solutions are particularly appealing, but something needs to be done. Turning off the olympiad would be the best option, but it's never been done before, so I don't know what kind of technical or beaucratic difficulties may arise.
In anycase, we need some sort of answer-- this situation is different from last month's competition because it may even CHANGE the heros for december, depending on what fix is decided, as opposed to last month which only changed the STATUS of the correct heros.
We have a possible fix in testing now and we hope to have it in place by the time the Olympiad matches begin. As soon as I have other news, I will post immediately.
All correct. They should either fix it for the start, or shut it off to preserve Nov. status until they can fix it. It's really hard to believe they can't just manually override it to make it end right now, hand out the results, and then key it up again.
EDIT: I just saw Mistryl's post. Thanks for the response, and hope it works!!!!
It wasn't fast enough for the teon server. On december 1, 2006 matches took place to affect the december heroes.
Mareg (Dominator) and skirn (sword muse ) got 'screwed' because of these matches. The noble gate passes on teon at least were 600k per hero instead of 300k. The people that didn't become hero got nothing including if they were over 50 points. Also, if you can't fix an important aspect of the game then just remove it all together instead of messing up it month after month aggrivating the game's long/loyal customers that have gotten to 78/78/78/whatever.
