Does time affect drop rates?

Some of you will know that the drop rates for pollen increases during peak hours. Is it the same for items / quest items? I spent 6 (not in a row) hours yesterday grinding for infernium ore. Some was during the day (GMT) and other after midnight (again GMT).

With me playing on an American server, the later of my two grinding sessions gave me 4 ore in 4 kills, whereas in my earlier session I got 4 in the whole two hours... I'm one shotting the tigers with CDL so you can imagine how fast I'm churning em up.
How many total did you get in the second time period?

In the end, this is commonly believed to be true - but not confirmed.
Second session I spent 4 hours and got 21. It's hard to say from this if the drop rate increases or not as I could've been just lucky. I'm hoping for an offical word on this.
There was a large debate on this a while back, but no official statement.
They can't give an official statement on it. If you look at the timeframes of the drop rates, the increases generally occur during normal "work" hours in East Asia... just because it happens to coincide with stadard "peak" hours in the US means nothing tho.
