It doesn't matter what colour the mobs are to you if you are hunting for coins. They are quest items and will drop regardless of the level differences. I would suggest poling the formors near IT. Groups of eight or more should drop you at least one per group. I think my record is five from one group.
i know mob lvl doesnt matter to get quest items, but i need 3-400 of em, and would be nice to get some xp whie i do it:-)
As for the mobs in vos, do you know which ones drop unicorns, and is the drop rate any good?
Spent a long time hunting there on sps just after c4 was out , like you say is opk for a mage. tried on bh sub recently, and with cancel/debufs/porting mobs/transforming mobs etc, it gets a little hard a little fast so far, which is a shame, some good spoils there i hear.
Anyway, if anyone else can point me towards some mobs i can kill that will give me coins please feel free:-) Failing that, anyone on Kain wts silver unicorns shout:-)
The Ole Mahums north of IT, in Oulaw Forest, drop them at a good rate. I used to be like you,and only want to farm those coins where I could get XP. Frankly, I'm about ready to give up on that, at level 58, and get them wherever I can, including hunting blue mobs. TheMoo is the only one I've heard say they got good drops from Formors. Everybody else, including myself, find the drop rate horrible. FYI, if you do end up hunting blues, at least you should be able to kill fast and get the coins fast.

Ugh, no herbs drop in DV....oh man that sucks. :confused: DV is the best place to get the gold coins too. I'll look through my notes and see what else dropped thoes at a good rate for ya.
The only other mobs that I know of (outside of DV) that drop Gold coins are the Timak Orc's around Cat. of Apostate. Sorry for the bad news mate. The good news is you will get Blood Medusas coins off the Timak Orc Soldier, Archers, and Shaman.

The secret is the poling part. If you do them one at a time, the rate is quite poor. Small groups like four or less don't seem to be enough. You really need to pull a large group. Admittedly, it has been a while since I have done it, but I'll head out there tonight just to see if things have changed.

I have been hunting VoS for 7-8 levels. My SH is 65 now. As I go to harder levels in VoS the relative mix of silver unicorns and blood medusa changes. I pay no attention to which mob drops which coin. I just know that after all these levels I can get 2-3 A grade weapon recipes, assuming I have the Kali coins.
BTW DC robe recipe spoils out there. My SH went out there in party with a BH to spoil the DC robe. Waiting for the mob to transform, and the spoil to take, before killing the mob, made the XP very very slooooow. Needless to say the craft failed and I am still using Avadon.
they should really update the quest descriptions. There is only written from the undead in DV and the Timak Orcs as far I remember.
Saddly I am only L50. So Goddard and Doom Knights seems to be to high :(
