so to make robes or light, it takes 771 d cry, which on my server cost 643-645. thats about 500k for the armor. what in the hell? what a total ripoff, how's anyone whos new to the game gonna have that! and don't tell me bs that "oh your sponsor is supposed to pay for that" no sponsor in their right minds will just throw away 500k.
Yea a clan who doesnt is either made of members who are very poor, which can happen, nothing wrong with that, or else they don't care and then you're in a bad clan.
500k for full body armor, helmet, boots and gloves? That is amazingly cheap, you know MOST of us started when academies didn't even exist, and the only top robes or light from a shop were mithril and manticore, both of which are about 500k for top and bottom ONLY. Throw in a helm, at least 60k. Non set boots, 90k. Gloves, 90k or so. That's not even set pieces which were always around 500k-1 mill (elven mith gloves or manti boots)
Seriously... you guys have it easy. Even IF you had to buy the crystals yourself, which is highly unlikely.
OH MY GOD, 500K for near top d-grade armor set, this is a travesty, its an injustice...how are people supposed to play?
Every time evil NCSoft force 500K from us, baby jesus cries.
Let me weep with you my friend. Weep for the injustice of having to spend 500K in crystals (which can sometimes be had for less) for a whole complete set of top level armor, instead of having to spend a month painstakingly putting the sets together, spending millions on a brig helm (that didn't even exist in the beginning) and leveling with medium d gear...there is no justice in this world.

grrrrr *grumble grumble*
Let's conclude.
First, you have no idea how to make money in this game. I had 500k adena spare when I hit 20 on my first character, all of it from my own work.
Second, you have no idea how much D-crystals cost in production. If your clan's Warsmith isn't capable to make them for less than 500a consistently, find a capable one.
Finally, yes, I hand over the D-crystals for Academy armour to our newbie freely. I'll get the armour, after all, so we can try to over-enchant it - new members get this enchanted armour to use instead of the plain one from the quest. That doesn't cost us any money we would really miss. A lot of clans on Teon are, similarly to us, handing out 1-2M of adena to every non-twink graduate who stays with the clan. That, too, doesn't really put a dent into our finances.

You don't actually need a WarSmith. I set up a buy store for them.

Lmao funniest thing ive seen on this forum, u sir are a funny man :)
On topic, if u think 500k is a rip off i wouldnt bother going to C grade ive spent 24m On my armour kit and jewels and 20m on my weapon thats 44m, and ure moaning about 500k? lol

If you are already complaining about 500k, then you lack the courage to play L II.
It is a grinding game, and if you don't like it, go play something else. Elliebelly said it in other words, we didn't even have academies to help us out.
I have forked over the crystals for my student without blinking - I have supplied them some DBSpS, I have run with them to help powerlevel them a bit (recharges and minor buffs).
You're a ******* poor sponsor or need a new apprentice if you don't trust them with 500k borrowed.
PS: My mains are level 45 and 46 respectively. I do not have a higher level BH or Warsmith or anything of that sort supporting me.
It would take me less than an hour with the apprentice to get the money back if I wanted to.
PPS: It's not because you're an old timer that you treasure every adena you make, but because you're obviously not very good at it...
In my clan, when someone is brought into the academy they are either given a former academy member's armor or one of our elder members gets with them as soon as possible to get them through the quest.
We are not a rich clan, we could not even afford a single level 12 crystal if we wanted (unless we attain personal donations), but we do not hesitate to help a new member.
So, to the original poster: You have nothing to complain about, only your own ego and inadequacies.
It's not the "making adena is hard" thing which is weird, it's simply that even though the OP plays since beta, he considers a full D armor set with set bonus for 500k adena too expensive, when for standard D armor sets like manticore, banana set, brig, the set completion item alone costs millions. If anything, academy armor is cheap.
Well, I'm sure for most rogues, which is probably who you will primarily find wearing light armour, the +MP from Manticore, which costs around 5 million to complete (not even thinking about a helmet) which has such a great practical effect is more important than the additional evasion from the oath set.
make a dark elf, do the two quests: will the seal be broken, and dangerous seduction. both are in the school of dark arts.
in total for thes 2 quests, u kill 4 mobs. return to the questgivers for 1 EAD, and 102,500adena.
next port to orc village (go to gludio, then orc village) do the Walk of Fate quest. all you do is talk to another guy out in the boonies marked on your map. reward 1 ead.
presto 302k.
if youre feeling really lucky, get another EAD from the Seed of evil quest on TI. open to all races. kill 1 mob (easy).
no money complaining plz. it is out there to be had.
Depends on server, i sold 3 other day 100k each in about 30mins. Think point he was making rather than moaning about adena, they should get off there rear end and earn it. Its there 2 be had.
Dudes.. I see Clan armor as a god send.. I remember finally getting my DA to lvl 20 and she became a Knight, back than the only armor she was sporting was not high grade like Brig or half plate, but mithril armor.. and at that time.. I thought that was the bomb, she had resistance to poison and a bit of stun resistance also... but not once did I complain when I was able to work up the adena to get to half plate, I must say people who starts off fresh again and the academy is around has it made. To get Clan armor for free is like a gift from the gods themselves..so people who has it should be feeling lucky and not complain that they had to fork over a near 3million adena or more just to get top D grade..which I must confess when I got to lvl 40 I was still in half plate when I got to lvl 43.. I was in Chain armor.. now at lvl 45 I'm in full plated armor.. thanks to alot of help from alot of friends. :) thank you guys if your reading this..
why did i even bother? no body even read what i posted =/. well at least now i know the names of the forum trolls
I think you missed our point entirely :/ We're trying to point out that 500k for a full set of armor, as opposed to 1.5 mill or more to complete an equal level set with a bonus is much cheaper than you probably realized.
Considering I equipped my nuker in CO for 1/4 of what the Gloves of Knowledge would have cost me (granted it's not as good...) I think it's a bargain.
And yes, I wouldn't give an apprentice of mine 500k, I admit. I'd give more.
500k is about the adena pickups I make grinding 1% (subtracting shot/crystal cost, of course, I probably earn quite a lot less). I could probably wander around on any given day and find 500k laying on the ground with nobody in sight if I really went looking for it. Using the manor, I'd need to seed and kill 33 monsters to make 500k. That's less than a half hour.
Cost of the CO set asside, the sponsor is typically the one picking up the tab in the end, so any academy member with complaints can cry me a ****ed river.
You don't like the price on CO? Okay, don't buy it... oh and have fun gearing up in all those other, more affordable D-grade SETS...
Anyone with the gaul to pinch penies when they are being outfitted by some ones else should be placed ona firing line and shot, then the cost of the bullet should be billed to their familes so our costs are covered...
