tips on new SK

Soo i started a DE. its my first one. and i want to get some of yur guys inpu on the race and class. I am planning on going SK, because of there offensive and defensive power. I have played a DA for while and while i love him, i'd like to work on a character that is a lil more offensively gifted while not losing all the power of a tank. Soo anyways if anyone has any tips on hunting or play style, or really anything let me know. thanks guys :)
ohh yea. I am currently lvl 15. i dunno if that makes a difference, like if u had a lvl grind routine. (ie. lvl20 NOS lvl 30 HC...etc)
On my alt, I have no intentions of going SK after 40, I do find soloing the PK a little boring since PK/SK is not a high damage class, however, they are extremely fun in Raid groups and Groups in general.

The other day I partied my PK in a catacomb and was running trains so that someone with a Polearm weapon could beat the hell of them while staying relatively safe.

So if you're planing to always try to be in a group, I'd say tank classes are fun, but if you intend to solo a lot, then with the low DPS it can be a lil' rough.

When you hit 20, try to get into an academy and if you can get sponsored for a Heavy Clan Oath armor, I must say, it ROCKS. It looks great, has good Pdeff, etc, etc. I love the Oath armor myself. I have both Brig and Oath, and Oath has way more Pdeff than Brig.
well i've leveled a DA before. and i mean probably 80% of that was solo. so i mean i don't think it'll be that bad. but are they ment for groups or can they handle being alone?
I'm having no problems soloing at pre-40's, on 2-4x hp mobs.
should i use a claymore or ELS? any other tips welcome :)
Sword-Shield till 40 on a Palus.
107s till 40, without any doubt. heck, you could even use duals for a while into 40, maybe even until 52 when you masteries start to show, and when you really will need a shield, because if you can keep you vampiric cubic up, and use life drain and life leech, you can keep your hp at full for every fight. no need for a shield, really.

Sword-Shield till 40 on a Palus.

sword and shield? or sword minus shield?
107's? really? why? i mean i have a +6 ELS i was planin on using or a +6 claynore. but what are so good bout 107's?
I don't really know what is good about 107's when your +6 ELS has 110 P Attk already.

A shield will let you block attacks, and a single handed sword attacks faster then duals.

Imo duals in DG are show-off.
For the PK I suggest indeed as Orvieta already said Sword and shield. You get chance to block an attack and your attack speed on one handed is fast to handle the job.

I made my PK into a SK and am enjoying her tanking skills. Not sure on the mass damage dealing though...Then again I still have some way to go so I'll be able to give more feedback when I get the hand of things.
well i upped my ELS to +9. I just classchanged last night. Oh man bro! My attack speed is like 572 or somthin. it seems like my computer can't keep up with my swings, basically i'm loving the my dex right now lol. the only downside i've seen thus far with the PK is his weight gauge, i can only carry half the ss i normally do. but he's pretty raw anyways.
I tried both duals and a SoR on my first character, (PK) and to be honest, I was able to kill faster with the duals than with the sword and shield combo. When I got to C grade, I was using a Sword of Delusion and FP shield, but my buddy with his +5 C duals outlevelled me like a champ. (He was also an SK)

For solo, I'd recommend duals until 52 like someone else said. For groups, sword and shield are a must.

Good info in this thread by some higher level SK's.

Claymore is 112, does more damage and is overall superior in every way to the duals for a palus knight.

Make your +6ELS into a +6claymore for damage/efficiency... keep it an ELS for defense.

Frankly, if you are soloing, the herbs and your heavy armor completely remove any need for defense to 40.

If you are grouped often and in the catacombs/necrop, then the shield + ELS is better.
As a high-level SK, I would suggest sword and shield combo as well, in addition, I wouldn't suggest the claymore. While it does have more damage capacity, you lose a lot by not usinga shield.

I solo'd my way to level 61 on my SK, without buffs, and it was fairly easy with a dd build. I got 1-52 in under a month usinga sword and shield. Your drain may not seem like much right now, but it works wonderfully to keep you alive.

That in mind, Clan Oath Armor, a kite shield and a+9 els will get you to 40 in now time, and you will be lookin for c grade.

Also, if you can find a crafter, greater compressed packs of dss lower the weight of dss enormously, allowing you to carry quite a few dss without worry of running out. I generally kept 5 packs on me and another 3k out of packs.
Keep in mind... you won't be under 40 long...
Don't worry too much about it.
Either a +6 ELS or +6 Claymore will be fine and very VERY easy.
SK can solo very well... i can still solo at lvl 70 with a good 4% an hour.
about wpns....anything with focus is ok thou at later lvls Shield really keeps dmg out.
i tried today using a dragon slayer +3 dmg per hit increased about 20 points only and atack speed greatly fell and no shield
while using my damascus +5 not only gives focus but also boosts atack speed (and Bss xD)

so u can toy around with two handed or dual swords on low lvls but stick to a Damascus and shield on high lvls.
any question pm Askaban on Sieghardt
Well i think im gonna stick with the +9 ELS for now. Just for attack speed with swift pots. NOW for where to level, I can't get into Cats or NEcros till next week i jsust did class transfer yersertday night (the quickest one in the game it felt like, lol) so i need a good hunting spot where i can just grind real quick. I can pretty much 2 hit anything that is within 2leveles of me (im lvl 20) soo yea just give me some tips. Thanks guys, you are really encouraging and informative.

BTW...is there anyway i can compress package my own ss-d cuz i can only carry like 4k right now and thats a lotta town runs. :)
anyone?
Lvl an artisan and you will be able to do that yes...

You could try Orc Barracks, it will be on the red side, but its good xp, and I always had nice DG drops there...you know for your cubics later on...
You gotta find an artisan with greater compressed packs in their book. Kinda rare cos people forget about htem

And for levleing.

I leveled to 22 in a cata, but outside dion will be fast exp for you.

22-30 I leveled on the 2x HP mobs in Partisans Hideaway, now called Fortress of Resistance. I didn't have buffs for it, but went fast and easy.

32-40 was a breeze in HC.

Also, outside of Heine is the Field of Silence and Field of Whispers. Most mobs around there are 1/2HP. It has insanely high respawn rate, drops tons of herbs, and also there is a quest from the lizardmen which gives mats, including Bone, Ori Ore and VOPs. Captain Gosta is the guy you get the quest from, and it starts at level 32.

I've heard a lot of people talk about SK's using magic swords because of there weak defense and stronger magic atack. but i was thinking could i overcome the cons of using a nonmagical sword by using Blessed spiritshot?

normal sps does 1.5x dame
blessed sps does 2x damage
most damage from spells come from their power rateing
so its not worth get a magic sword?

No not yet. Some people would say never... but I happen to think anything which makes you less predictable in PvP is a good thing.

Some SK use Mage weapons to augment their magic attacks for PvP.... which does indeed have its advantages.
However, PvP at 40- is not advised outside the arena... and Palus Knights' magic abilities are limited to say the least.

Frankly, PK (and then SK) is a melee with some magic... leave the magic sword until later in your life when you have life leech and lightning strike.

You will nuke reasonably without the magic sword... more Matk is better, but frankly you will be swinging more than casting.

From 20-40 you are a melee with a tiny amount of magic.
Thus get a melee weapon...
