A Samurai walks into a bar...

Greetings,

This story is very interesting as it shows the value of playing L2. L2 is a game that stimulates your emotional intelligence.

I was riding a train in Japan (I was studying aikido). A large drunk man walked into the train, and started to push around people, he even punched a woman who landed on a couple of elderly people, they all quickly ran to the back of the train.

I know my master insisted that skills are only to be use in defense, I felt I had to do something.

"OH, A foreigner ! I'll give you a lesson Japanese style !"

I smiled and as the drunk came towards me, an old man wearing a kimono said "HEY!" In a tone you would use as if you met an old friend.

What do you want from me ? The drunk asked the old man. I was ready to strike if he touched the old man.

Is that sake you are drinking ?
Yeah, but what's it to you ?
Oh, I love sake. My wife heats some for me every night, and we drink it while watching our garden. I love the trees, don't you ? I am sure you have a wonderfull wife.

She died, the man confessed, he then went on about how he had lost his wife, his job and all his money, and how shamefull he felt.

As I left the train the man was lying down on the seats, his head on the knees of the old man. He was telling him about him problems.

That old Japanese man was an emotional intelligence genius.

Self control, discipline, empathy and knowing how to interact with other people are the basics of emotional intelligence. These lessons are all tought by this game, so who said games are bad ?

Have Fun ! ™

<grins> Nice story Dark.
Emotional intelligence? I haven't heard those words lumped together since my parents suspected I had Asperger's.
Wizards rules (http://www.prophets-inc.com/the_author/wizards_rules.html)

If you want some good rule thats worth applying to your life, try these.

it comes from a book series that I read, and love.

there is a rule for every book, the 10th rule isn't posted on the site yet, yet I put it into a thread on there.

some really good things to use as tools for your every day life!

pwnt imo

what an emo noob lol
So you see that a man punched a woman who fell into some elderly folks, and then you got ready to strike IF he hit the old man?

Priorities...

A man striking a lady is about the most filthy thing he can do, that should have evocted some rather heated "emotional intelligence" if you ask me.

granted your story would be shorter, but more just...

unless she asks/likes it of course ;)

that's sexist
woman should have the same right to be punched in the head as everyone else
of course. thats why they invented feminsim after all...
lol, I agree, bunt can't say more than that or I'll get banned from the forums, lol.
Ah but you miss the moral of story. Yes hitting a woman or anyone for that matter is wrong, but responding to violence with hatred or more violence is not the way to go about it. Resorting to violence should be a last resort. The old man practiced one of the true meaning’s Bushido, or at least Miyamoto Musashi. Defeating your enemy or taking away his will to fight without a physical strike. I can truly respect the old man for his actions.

But this is not the teachings of Pa’agrio. For Pa’agrio teaches to beat your opponent into submission and to crush their spirt.

Fixed that for you.

Yes, but it's too much of a weird concept for NA...
Good story Dark
Yes, sadly it seems that way Gurduul
You are not Orc, you do not understand.

To take the fight out of the person, one has to completely and udderly crush a persons spirit.... To grind it to dust with ones own fists.

as a fellow orc, i would say thats exactly what the old man did. as an orc, i spend a lot of my time not xping, just standing there watching the world move around me. comtemplativeness is as much a orc virtue as deathcrushinguberdoomness is. so there is certainly more than one way, to be an orc.
I teach that to confront one's opponent in a direct attack is foolish. Crushing him with a zamboni is best. May he find peace among the burnished ice.
