I am a new player to Lineage II (started playing 4 days ago) and I am very dissapointed to find that my chosen server (Franz) is flooded with bots.
I was looking forward to meeting new people in a new game, joining a friendly community and feeling part of something. Instead in every direction I look there are people called xjghft or some variation of that. No one speaks. I cant ask any questions or get any help because no 'real' players seem to be in the start villages.
When I try to do quests to level and get the Adena to get out of the start zones, I have to compete with a small army of jghfyt named people for every mob.
Often while I am casting a spell or aiming my bow at a mob a small Dwarf called xsdjfht flies past me and stabs it. This means all of my quests take 10x longer and Im angry that this is because of bots rather than natural competition over mobs from real players (which is normal).
I'm bored, lonely and sad that there is no community for genuine new players at level 1-20.
So, is there any hope that this will be better if I change servers? Does anyone have any advice or hope to offer me, as right now I feel like quitting because the Lineage II experience as a new player is just horrible. :(
The reason you are competing with them in the starter towns is that NCSoft keeps banning them and they have to restart. Finding them all in starter towns is a good sign that NCSoft is hard at work banning them actually. Once you get away from the starter areas you should see less of them. While you are there do your best to report the ones you see including the names of the toons in your report as best as possible. The majority of the L2 player base is higher level whith the game having been out for 3 years now. Once you get 20+ you should start seeing lots more live players no matter what server you are on.
Question, are you from Europe? If so that explains why you chose Franz to play on. If your not in Europe you should try any other server besides Franz or Teon as they are both located in Germany.
there continue to be account removals and it sure looks to me like NCSoft is being responsive.
Last week on Lionna i started a new orc....in town was over-run with the little buggers. All lowbies in bronze. Not bad out in hunting areas though--except around frozen waterfall (though they still arent' the competitive automatons...they veer off if you target the mobs they are heading for).
Logged in today on that toon and not one bot! None in town (that's NONE). None in hunting areas. None left in frozen waterfall area.
My point is, with constant [censored] that occurs re: bots we should acknowledge when they are eliminated. Sure those folks will buy new accounts....but my feeling is that over the past weeks this issue is being addressed to some degree.
Honestly, the 'bot problem' is not a problem for a new player. Not on franz and not on lionna--first 20 levels are so easy even with bots running around that it isn't even funny.
Heck, my son started playing last week and working on his own he is lvl 28 in 5 days (granted he got some great gear to use from my alts).
If a brand new player can do that then it would seem the 'bot problem' isn't much of a hinderance for newbies.
Just my opinion.
I am from Europe yes and I have the best ping with Franz.
I also thought maybe Franz, being the newest server, would have lots of nice people to meet in the start villages. People not called xfjght.
I guessed that it all gets better after level 20 when you get out of these places (and Im sure it does, just dont know if I can force myself through the misery of 1-20, Im supposed to be playing this for fun after all).
For people like me experiencing Lineage II for the very first time, its not good for the first 20 levels to be a nightmare because of bots. I have to base my decision to play or not to play on how much I enjoy the game, and Im really sad to find my experience so far ruined by all these bots and by the absence of anyone 'real' to interactive with.
There's nothing you can do to stop low level bots in a game - except closing sign-ups, not banning the high level ones or hiding them in instances.
It's unfortunate, but that's the reality of the game and the earning potential in it. It's doubly annoying since it keeps real new players out - and there's nothing to say to make it any better than it is.

*sigh*
Now let's put this into perspective a bit ok?
Recenlty I made a char on Franz to see how fast you can go to 20, it took me 4 days, while not even playing more then a few hours a day. I had no outside help, just the newbie buffs, newbie shots, the exchange systems...any help the newbies get as well.
If you can't bring yourself to spend 4 days to get to lvl 20 and explore Dion and such where the real play begins, then maybe you should ask yourself what you gonna do when you get 0.01% from a mob and it takes you 10 seconds to take it down.
And when you lose 12-16% 2h later in a Raid Boss or a siege.
Bots are a serious problem at any lvl in this game, but as you can do very little about them, you have to deal with them either way.

Thats exactly it though. I dont have to deal with them. As a new player if they ruin the game for me I wont play.
If I didnt post here no one would even know that Im here feeling like this. I wonder how many other genuine new players try Lineage II and experience the same as me and quit because of it.
Dont forget when you level to 20 in 4 days youre not new, you dont need help, you dont have any questions to ask and youre not looking to make friends or talk to people, you no doubt have high levels and a clan etc etc. Remember I am totally new and this is my first ever week in Lineage.
Im not here to see how fast I can level to 20, to have my first experience of the game be a nightmare for 20 levels before the fun starts, to have all of my first impressions be bad and keep coming back for more. Why would I do that? Games are for FUN.
I want to interact with people, thats why I play mmo games. Not to constantly attempt to say hi to people called gjdhgt or to sit in silence and frustration while xdjfhgt people repeatedly fling themselves at the nearest guard while I ask for help and advice and get no answers.
I want interaction, fun, friends, nice people around me with real names. Im not saying the bots are making it impossible for me to play, Im sure I could level like crazy and get the hell out of there if I played hard. I am saying that the experience of being surrounded by bots in your first ever week is very offputting.
Seems its just something I have to accept or quit because of which is sad because so far Im more likely to quit. :(
Even if there was no bots at the first 20 lv's Sinda you won't be able to interact with ANY REAL players anyway. Why? For someone who's re rolling, 1-20 takes less then a day, new players can as well burn true it in a day if they put there mind to it.
As I said you won't find real players, no bots or not, because the first lv's just go to fast, also non want to really party the first lv's because that just slow you down. This start to change after lv 20 however. And also this is the reason why peoples tell you to work to 20.
Another thing to think about is to find a clan, pickup groups is almost non excistance, peoples part with there clan mates.
As for bots, I yet have to see more then one or two of then once per day or so by now, they are almost non excistance for the moment at the higher lv's.
I know your just starting out and all but check the clan hall forum. There are a ton of clans on Franz advertising for players. Even if you just chat with them in game it will make the experience so much better for you. The reason I keep playing this game is my clan mates. If not for them I probably would not continue. Most clans want low level characters starting out if just for the clan rep points they receive when you hit 40. You get help and people to talk to along the way. A good mature clan makes this game a true joy to experience.
Welcome to the game! You picked a good one. One of the things that makes Lineage good is that it is hard, not easy.
The folks you encounter that seem to have sneezed at the keyboard upon name selection are just another obstacle to be overcome. You have many good tools to use to get you past them quickly. Before leaving town, get 'helpful magic' from the Newbie Guide. The Guide will also give you Newbie Shots, which help you level.
In most starting towns, there is a quest that gives you 6000 additional Newbie Shots. In the Dwaven village it is the quest given by Filaur at level 6. A guide to all quests is here. (http://lineage2.stratics.com/content/library/quests/)
With newbie buffs and Newbie shots, you should be able to level to 20 quickly and leave those problems behind.
Yes exactly, don't get discouraged about bots in starter towns, soon you are 20 and you won't be visiting your home town again, certainly not untill you do your lvl 40 quests.
What PleChan says about higher lvl bots, they are still there, but a bit less then before.
Just live a bit in the mood of the game, admit it is a hard one and that you have to work for it. And you will be so much happier when you end up in Dion and see all those people and know the game can start.
