i hate not knowing much about an event...so i'm going to ask u guys what u know so far. is it normal to be hunting for 3 hours and not come across any event mobs? do event mobs spawn EVERYwhere, or only certain places that you have to wander everywhere trying to find? is it like tons of event mobs that spawn at a time, or just one here and there? and last, can i just grind like i normally would and have a hope of getting any mobs???
Certain places at certain times; they put out a global message when the spawn happens.
Check the areas relatively near towns; as the event progresses, they also tend to get closer to town.
And they usually spawn a pack of 20 or so monsters, undead or demon type. They use existing monsters (with different drop tables); I've seen monsters from TOI, FOD, Imperial Tomb, Forge of the Gods, etc. around Aden and Oren.
Raid bosses have also spawned at varying locations.
I just wish that mob will spawn from corpse instead of random packs at random times/places... It's getting fustrating to camp at certain areas and not being able to lvl at mob of my lvl.

Just to clarify - the mobs do not spawn all the time. When they do spawn (once every few hours), there will be a message, and since everybody searches for the mobs immediately after that message, you can be pretty sure that all event mobs in easy to reach places will be killed about half an hour or so after that message. You can of course wander around and try to find any packs of mobs which others have not found yet - sometimes you get lucky if you search in a spot nobody ever goes to. Yes, there will be packs of mobs (like 20-30 or even more, sometimes even with a raid boss among them), not single mobs. And like in previous events, not all of the mobs which spawn drop event items. Only a few of them pop and drop lots of stuff, the others have only the normal drops which they would have if they spawned in their normal spots (including quest items, so you might e.g. get a papyrus from a mob which normally spawns in TOI).
So, yes, you HAVE to search for the mobs. If you just stay in your favorite XP spot and wait for the mobs to suddenly appear right next to you, you will probably be out of luck.
