i was thinking of changing my subclass to a summoner.
and i was wondering, what level do you get the summon party member skill?? and do only tthe ES/WL/PS get that skill and not necros?
and any additional info on the summoner class would be great. i've never played one before but they look kinda fun
very expensive classes to play. a lot of D and C crystals used every hour, beast shots for your summon, and shots for yourself as well, at least if you wanna level fast. so, its expensive, but, its fun, you level fast, and you grind very well solo with or without buffs. I yet havent been partying with anyone except helping low-lvls in clan, but i dont se why summoners would not get partys, im sure they are welcome.
so, go for it!
To counter the expensive post, well i can't counter it it's crazy costly. The upshot is you make more than you spend which is not something every class can say. It's not a lot of money though. There are lots of things to do to change yoru income though and a summoner has a lot more control over his spending than otehr classes.
Want to farm money? usethe 90% pet and no shots. Want fast XP? Use the 10% pet with both of you spamming shots and full array of cubics.

Summoners make good party members. They are very nice damage dealers and their cubics are helpful. However, as a phantom summoner, I am never a "must-have" class. No parties out there are sighing and wishing they had a PS. That said, I rarely have difficulty getting parties if I choose, though mostly with people I know. Random pickup groups are extremely unlikely to believe I can be a healer, but in groups I mostly DD anyway unless additional healing is required. In raids nowadays I am always a healer.
I personally deal with the expense by partying with a bounty hunter ;) And really, it's expensive in consumables but the flipside is you don't need expensive gear. A summoner can do perfectly fine never going above B grade. You don't truly need to worry about A grade weapons or 11/12 soul crystals or whatever. What is a virtual necessity for some classes is a luxury for you.
yea. well, me beeing a warlock I hope a will get wanted in groups once im 56 :) doesent realy mather that much for me anyays, cuz i always party with my ally.
the only reason i haven't done it yet, is cause my warlord sub is 56, and i dn't know if i wanna level up again unless it's going to be fast, cause i know once i get the queen summon i'll be in a party 100% of the time, so i'll level fast then for sure
Summoners are decently fast XPing. 74->75 took me a little under fifty hours total, which isn't bad for soloing at 74. Could have gotten it probably in closer to 40 hours if I'd gotten the best hunting spot all the time.
Summoner is almost absolutely PvE class.
No ranged attacks, except of one summon's long-reuse long-cast 750 range rather weak wind-based nuke.
That would be a 90% exp-consuming one. So you can't quickly switch to pvp from pve mode.
All your servitors have a critical of 40 (up to 110 with buffs), and their pvp damage is penalized to add. They have limited p. and m.def, low attack speed.
Your servitors can't benefit from potions.
That being said, you are basically screwed, when it comes to pvp. It comprises the imbalances of c5: range, insane crits, imba-skills, potion spam - those are for the win, and you have none.
Not to mention skills like fear, betray and erase, that easily strip you and only you of your weapon.
Yet I can only pity those summoners that choose to go buff-bot-like ways. There should be some pride.
SkySapphireStorm no offense but summoners is one of the better PVP classes in game, specially towards nukers, they usually win towards them in an even leveled fight, oh and nukers is rangers LOL.
Only disadvantage summoners really are in PVP is towards stun, other then that they are really good and strong PVP class. biggest advantage is that most have no clue how to fight them, as they being so rare, and most have no clue what they go for due the same reason.
As for fear, I can say this much, GOOD LUCK, all real summoners summon got an 100% resistance to fear, I've seen an 76 OL cast it over 20 times on an 72 PS and yep... didn't land once.
Erase sure is evil and thats about it more or less.
Summoners are good at certain types of PvP - for example solo ganking of small groups. :p Other than that, it's pretty much all in the buffbish summons.
All summons have a +100% to their base fear resistance (meaning double the base fear resist or halving the chance to fear them).
On and Silhouette's nuke is 900 range and it's Darkness, not Wind.
In PvP I wouldn't use Silhouette anyway, unless I was up against someone substantially below my level -- I'd use Soulless in some situations, and Shadow in others. The VR is more useful in PvP than a relatively poor drain.
Edit: And with Ple it's not really an attitude, just a combination of a different language/culture + the tone of voice loss from text communications. It sometimes comes across as confrontational when it's not meant to be.

Okay, np if thats the case. Just never really seen Ple write in that style, so I was like whoa where did that come from.
lol thanks for the info...but i have a pvp class...my sr, i was looking for something that' is different and fun, i have warlord now and that's like 100% opposite from sr. and it's fun, and was just wondering about the summoner
No arguments with the buttons to push.. I'm only 48 with my PS and I already have 5 quickbars I use when hunting, add buffbar and summon bar.. Yeah, I sometimes click the wrong things.
The fun thing is, if you think you can't afford shot spam, you don't have to. You can solo without shots. It's slower, and if you're fighting things a bit above your level or get a lot of add you might have to regen once every few hours, but that's not all that bad. My summoner can make up to 18% an hour at that level if I spam shots, around 10-ish if not. That's not a bad pace, and it's without any downtime or pauses if I want, so.. I can even solo with Soulless without problems now, the herbs account for the annoying mp drain.
Not 100% true. While they can't use the potions that the players uses, they do benefit from the pots/herb drops in the solo areas. That being the case, combined with the self buffs that I get for my servitors, I can last a long time in the field and XP quite well.
As for PvP, yes they took some of our PvP hit power away. But by no means are we totally screwed in PvP. I was in a party in FP the other night and 2 members of the party asked if they could test damage on Kai. I said sure as long as he was allowed to hit back. They thought that was ok, at least the archer did, until Kai hit him twice and took ALL of his CP's and just a hair of his HP! He didn't like that too much. The dagger took a lot of damage as well. Also, if the Warlock has his cubics up and is anywhere near your same level, you probably don't want to try him 1v1. Kai hits hard and the binding cubic para, when it lands, last about 30 seconds. Not too many classes that I can't kill in 30 seconds.......
Where does one get beast shots? I didn't know a summon could use shots.
I should hopefully have my class transfer complete tonight. I have 2 more apprentice cards to get and four summoner duels to do but the first two have been a piece of cake.
If anyone on Gustin has a souless or phantom cubic book look for Pandemonium in game as I need those two. Souless is the harder to get so that one I'm most interested in. I hope to get phantom on my own but I'm not beyond buying it for a good price.
Every summon got a passive skill who is called Resist fear, it doubles it resistance to fear. It's not really hard to get that ain't it ?
What's the source of that information?
To be honest, it was too hard to test, couldn't find a coherent enough nuker within my nearest surroundings, on PTS or live.
Still, haven't seen any mentions of that. If only in summoners wish lists. Were your tests from c5 times, btw?
Fear is not much of a deal quite often, since servitor can be simply killed, outdamaging the heals.
And sure, everyone is afraid of the leet and really-really reliable warlock cubic.

Source of that is L2P, which ultimately got that info from the leaked C4 server source.
