I was wondering, is it difficult for a SK to get parties in catacombs ? not with clan but just by shouting.
Would be good if a few SKs could tell me their experience with this.
its difficult for any tank to get a party now adays. shouting for parties doesnt get the results it used to. looking from the first post u did about chosing a fun melee character i suggest bd. gets parties very easy and lots of active skills to play around with. alright in pvp aswell.
Yes, but in for example Sieges doesnt people demand that the BD just sits there dancing ?? I know I can just give a [censored] about what peeps want me to do, but I dont want to be the hated BD =_=
ok...so i was actually plannin on going SK like the guy that posted this. BUT now after all the talk of BD's gettin parties all the time, i kinda wanna go BD lol. a question tho. if you can't find a group can BD's solo alright?

Its pretty difficult for most melee to get groups nowadays, with the emphasis on archeres and nukers. Good fun classes, IMO are SK, DA, Gladi, WL. Note, I am not a big fan of everyone and their mother playing a BD.
Also, while most tanks don't do tremendous damage, but with the right build SK/DA can do quite a bit more damage than most people give credit for.

That might be situational.
I was in a party with my clanmates and they commented that it is rare for them to have a nuker in the party.
As far as parties, let me give the OP some advice. Make your own. Do not rely on others. Sure you can shout for a party but Unless that one particular party is looking for a tank, they are not going to respond.
But if you shout "putting together a group for "x" you might find that there are other people out there who might want to party but feel a bit self conscious about shouting for one or actively looking for one. But if you give them an opening, they might pm you to see if they can join.
You will also have a broader pallete of players to choose from as opposed to trying to "fit" your tank in someone else's party. And you also have control over the party. What could happen is you get a group of many tanks who all don't have parties? So, you go somewhere where you can mow through mobs. Maybe see if you can round that out with other classes who seem to have problems with parties.
These types of parties can be the most fun because it allows people to utilize some of their other skills and not have to fit into the mold of "the perfect party".
I can't tell you how many times I've looked at th shouts and seen many people shouting for a group that could have all just partied together.
I think most classes that are not support/healer (they are always in demand since there are not enough of them~) must have friends or a clan to get party.
It's also better to just keep actively approaching people from early on, helping them out etc. - then you will get lots of invites. ^_^ I play two ubar gimp classes and still get lots of party love.
I agree with what ppl said about creating your own party. With the event mobs that just occured tanks were much needed and not many ppl play them. Sure a Bd is fun, but nobody plays with no one these days, and BD can definately not solo since they have low hp. The only way mine is okay is I got a buffer acc behind me and a little kitty healer, plus I have to take on green mobs.
Max HP has little to do with soloability. :o BDs can solo fairly well on herb drops areas, but they're not as independant as SK (who also takes much less damage thanks to the shield).

bd's can solo extremely well. when i was in 50's i soloed most of the time with just se buffs and no down time. in my 70's i soloed a fair amount of time and when i hit 74 soloing only get easier. vr dance = vr effect 4 so just stack that ontop of se vr and its just insane. herbs only make it even easier.
SKs can be a good choice for small melee parties in catas/necros.
Focus weapon is a must even like Hex, Phantomic cube is a good choice also.
Good classes to hunt with: Destroyer, Gladiator, Tyrannt, BD, Warsmith, Dagger users, Summoner
Mid good class to hunt with: Archers, Warcryer, BHs
Worst classes to hunt with: Nukers, Healers, other Tanks
Actually, I would rather have a Prophet than an SE in a duo on my SK. I get more than enough HP back from drains and Vamp Cubic. Zerk and Haste are great, in addition to Bless Shield.

Anyways, last time I had a duo with an SK, I ended up tanking since I took agro. Not really the SKs fault cause it was all a matter of gear and choice of SA on weapon.
But back to the OP question.
Hmmm, Ive been trying to type this for 30 mins now.... but I realised my point of view is probably biased. And I have never played an SK or any other type of tank.
But the summary is:
Last time I played with a tank in a catcomb was in a full 9 man CLAN part a year or so back. Since then, I never had a tank in any of my catacomb parties nor did we need one. Im sure this is not true for all catacombs party, but I told you my point of view is biased.
To tell you the truth, the best xp Ive had playing with any kind of tank is in a small melee party. Tank set up to increase he output damage + me (prophet) + sometimes a melee DD such as a tyrant, destoyer, glad. I have a DA, SK and Paly on my friends list and most of the time when I log on they send me a pm to see if I can duo with them. They knwo what gives them good xp :P
Go find yourself a nice battle prophet somewhere:P Im sure its going to better and safer xp that catacombs.
Meh, don't even need a party before 66. Get prophet, SE, or clan hall buffs and just go solo a room. After that the mobs are physical resist, so talk some mid 40's academy graduate(DD class) into coming with you to provide a small DPS boost without really affecting your XP gain.
