I read with interest the post by Grolley about being hacked and losing 3 years worth of work. First let me say to Grolley I am sorry that your being treated this way by NCSOFT. Its seems they don't own up to any responsibilty with this issue and I know we can all read your rules. But let me say I find it very offensive that you locked the thread. Apparently you can have an opinion but if NCSOFT decides it doesn't show them in a good light than can censor you. SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!!!!!
I guess Grolley has to live with your decsion but my question to NCSOFT would be ok you can't give him back his stuff BUT what are you doing about helping him track down the person who did this so he can press charges. Surely you are able to review accounts and player activity to know the name of the toon that did this and provide that info to his local police --or what violation to privacy would that be covered under???? For NCSOFT to take an I don't care attitude show that your customer service leaves a little to be desired. If you can't re-imburse him for his loss at least help him find the person responsible ---NC SOFT MUST DO THE RIGHT THING HERE. I for one will being watching this with much interest and my continued business depends on your reply. 1. Just because they prohibit discussions (or rather flamefests) about it, does not mean, that the matter is not investigated. That is what the support tickets are for.
2. It is unlikely, that Grolley would be able to press any charges against anyone, as technically, noone did steal anything from him. He is still the owner of the account and that is it. Everything else, including any virtual property on all accounts is owned exclusively by NCsoft, so they would be the only ones to press charges against some hacker.
3. As written in the other thread... Did Grolley get any mails about his security questin being entered falsely ? If that were to be brute forced, it would give hundreds of mails, that can serve as proove to claim, that it was not his fault. If there were no such mails, then the hacker must have answered the security question correct on the first attempt and that can only mean, that the information leaked out.

To 2: Why does NCSoft then state there is nothing they can do about the issue, and they that should contact their local law enforcement thingy?
To 3: He does have the e-mails I'm sure, or at least he received them... but what would that change?

All nobles with top gear, and seemingly done from the same guy (same IP). I'm not flaming, just adding to the discussion, so please don't lock the thread since it's important to at least make it known there is a large issue of hacking going on and people should take precautions as no one is sure how he's doing it (seems like in a lot he's just brute forcing the secret question since there is no lockout time.

Oh, this is ONE example of this attempted hacking trying to get accounts. Grolley got the same emails as well. But then again, Grolley and others are in the wrong.
No I did not. The people that have been hacked thus far on Bartz have a few things in common thus far.
1. They have mostly been people who have known wealth.
2. They have mostly been clan leaders.
3. They have mostly been noble+ people.
Why attack these type of people?
1. You see these people with highly overenchanted A grade and S grade. Prime target for wealth.
2. Clan leaders usually have a large wealth of money in their clan warehouses, especially ones who own castles and have a larger alliance.
3. Nobles have been in the game for a long while and have usually aquired alot of wealth.
The hacker knew what he wanted and he did his research.
I logged in approximately 20 minutes after they officially logged into my account. 5 toons were stripped. My main and 2 alts on one account. One the same PlayNC account was out clan shop toon and my prophet. Those two toons were cleaned out as well.
I love it when stupid people chime their two cents in about things that have been in the TSA for years. If you don't bother to read it... don't be surprised when things like this happens.
And btw... I've had friends have their accounts hacked into too. Nobless.. had lvl 75+ and 65+ subclasses deleted... and their character deleveled from 78 to 65... and the hacker got the account eventually banned.
Another... had an enemy infiltrate their account and they mouthed off the gms... screenshots and all... and they had their accounts banned.
Yet another lost the same crap as this guy did... though in this case... his loving clan mates REPLACED IT ALL WITHIN DAYS.
And then there is two other friends who just got banned a few days ago because of credit card issues. Okay... this was a bit inexplicable but in every case... none of these people cried as much. Every forum/ subforum I can think of has his spam in there. Why he thinks he is special enough to change NC's policy is beyond me~

I guess you are one of the people who would still let slavery happen because it had been an accepted practice for years. His clan and alliance are begging him to take gear. This isn't about not being able to play, this is about the principal of the situation.
What if there is no way to retrieve the gear that he lost? That is a very real possibilty, you know. If the hacker deleted the gear and didn't transfer it to another character like he thinks, it's not something that NCSoft can do anything about.

Except if they have logs (which I'd assume they would), they could replace it, or even rollback the character...
Impossible? No. Tedious? Yes.
Which is why I think they don't do it.
Although they reimbursed people who fell for the e-mail scam so I don't see what the difference is now.

Ncsoft can spawn items, can make mobs drop any items, Just like they do in the event. They have 100% control over it and we all know it. Nscoft your a bunch of lazy people that make games and could give 2 [censored] about what happens in game. Start doing something about it and you wont have a problem. They know what everyone does in this game, They know who does this and who does what it isnt hard to see that. They just dont want to do anything about it.

I think you are all missing my point--it was not about the items lost --i can read the rules it was that NC SOFT can trace what happened BUT WON'T--thats wrong--they shouls at least try to help instead of throwing the rules in your face.
