Light Elvens - Which Class is the best?

Player Questions Started Last reply 48 posts
Hi everyone,

I'll come back to L2 in a few days and I'm looking for a class that's fun to play. I only like Elvens tho. :o It should be a class that does well when it comes to lvling, also no glass cannon please. It should be able to take some damage and not die too fast(doesnt need to be the best tank tho. I prefer to deal alot & fast damage..) I'm just looking for something non boring thats fun to play. ^^!! Should be able to do Siege later on but doesn't need to be a pure pvp chara.
My boyfriend will most likely play a SE or PP to support me.

Which light elf (no dark elvens please..) is the best in your opinion and which one is really a chara to have fun with? What would you suggest for me? <3

I also hope to see some different answers and not just "play a nuker" hehehe!

Looking forward to your replies!!
Thanks alot
Silver ranger.

Temple knight is gimp, Swordsinger is also gimp. dont get me started on Spellsinger.
I had an archer class before & didn't enjoy it much.. What about the other classes? >.<! Or is it really ONLY the Silver Ranger that's good?
hmm sounds like you would have fun with either a dagger or sws, both kill decently quick in pve, although you wont match a caster/archer's killspeed, capable in favorable pvp situations also. archer and sps of course are most favorable in PvP :P although neither is the best of the best.

personally i would go swordsinger... very much loved in groups, you would have Agression skills and UD to save your PP/SE in tricky places, fairly decent killrate and not completely useless in pvp either...

melee and nuker classes tend to be better off with SE buffs+heals/recharges, whereas archers benefit more from PP buffs+root... if you're making a character to help your boyfriend that might be worth considering :P don't get me wrong, you can easily cross those suggestions and still function very well! it's just more efficient pve that way :P
have your BF go Prophet and you plainswalker. You two will love this combo very much. Both of you will be welcome in groups and you will love him for his buffs. And later on, he can become a battle prophet and help you kill mobs too, That way he wont fell like you are doing all the work.
Not boring and fun to play? Summoner. May have issues in PvP, but definitely not a boring class. Summons hit hard, tanks for you, and with transfer pain you won't be exactly a glass tank either, later on.

Definitely beats becoming one of the n+inf spellsingers or silver rangers, sword singers aren't all that common but not really all that fun to play either (I have one, playing feels like being a buffbot), temple knight might be fun, but not much of a chance in the damage section, and more or less no luck whatsoever getting parties. Daggers can be fun, but elven daggers aren't exactly the best tanking material, and lack the critical/haste passives the other daggers get.

For summoner the road from 20 to 40 will be faster with a SO too, and you can probably even save up in shots (i.e. not spam on every spell, but instead make adena).
So it's either a SwS, a Plainswalker, a Summoner or a Nuker? Hmm.. ^^;; I'd like to hear some more options tho!
Well there's only so many possible LE classes :/

temple knight, sword singer (knight branch), silver ranger, plains walker (scout branch), elemental summoner, or spellsinger (mystic branch) or elven elder (oracle "branch").

I have a sps, I like it a lot, but that's me.
Well lots of Damage Per Second would be the Spellsinger, but you would be "glass cannon" but not defenseless since you can kill quickly. But sounds like you want more beef in your stew...

Silver Rangers are good, probally the second more damageing and fastest leveling of the elven race. But you don't like the archers.

So my suggestion would be a Plains Walker, or Sword Singer, both melee and both withstanding about the same beating after level 60 or so, the SwS can take more earlier on since he starts out going heavy armor tank type.

These all will be relitively fast and all needed and good at seiges. The slowest being the SwS to level, but still a good class that is welcome in many pvp parties.

My Advice in order would be Spellsinger, Silver Ranger, Plainswalker.

Pretty good at PvP would be an Elemental Summoner but you would really have to like pets (unicorns) and also getting crystals may get annoying, and really...not a class parties really seek, and you wouldn't be using the full potential of your buffer friend.

Have a SE if you go Spellsinger.
Have a PP if you go Plains Walker or Silver Ranger.

Hope this helps a bit. Basically, choose if you want melee or range. Then choose between Spellsinger (magic ranged) Silver Ranger (physical range) or Plains Walker (light armor dagger) Swordsinger (heavy armor buff support damage assist)
I play Temple Knight ... I kill All Elves with the exception of a good SPS or Summoner ... I am best at killing archers caus I can stack my P def so freakin high, I have root and slow, I have a Skill called Tribunal that lowers the archer's base crit rate by half, and as a LE I am a crit Machine with or W/out SWS or a foc sword =)
I can take massive hits and having Cubics <kinda> watching your back is nice =)

Also , with the DW nerf to come in interlude more P def and damage reduction is gonna be a very very good thing =)

finaly , we are **** and rare and we are getting our final cubic in interlude and it is the sexiest cubic of all ... for serious ...
I have also played SPS to 53 now and a Abyss Walker to 62 and I can tell ya that the SPS was easy yet ... boring .... /yawn to lvl and the play style of the AW is similar to the PW even tho AW does ++++++ More Dmg than PW .

ehh my 2 adena a wooden knickle and 2 eggcorns

EE(+SE) or ES(+PP). In the former case, though, your "alot & fast" damage will be either to undeads or from your other party mates.

Levelling EE+SE active duo is not a hard task, and is fun too, but you will need to reach lvl 56 before Interlude.
i've never tried a healer duo before, but it sounds messy lol

summoner could be good though, only problem is they do get pretty expensive later on and might be tough to keep up with as your first with no cash to build around

i've never tried a healer duo before, but it sounds messy lol

Indeed, it levels slower than SpS+SE duo, but with much more fun, and EE in nuker setup isn't a glass cannon either. It could become quite expensive when you start nuking multi-HP mobs with Turn Undead, though.
It's only boring if you make it boring, I did group mobs from around 50-60, taking advantage of the sps speed. That's nowhere near boring ;)
I would go Silver Ranger(just cause i love it) but i know you're against the ranger. maybe summoner might be better, if your boyfriend is going support class to help you out, then you 2 can duo up to lvl 80...and i'm not joking, there are summoners that solo to 78, and that's with self buffs, so being fully buffed, you can go far and fast.
Sounds like ES/PP or SwS/[either] to me. :)
^^; thanks alot for the anwers.
My 3 favs are ES, SwS and PW... Puhhh still having a hard time to decide. >.<! They all sound like fun.
I have a question about ES tho, I heard that the saviors get up to 90% of the earned exp. Wouldn't that make lvling terribly slow?
You use the 10% servitor, naturally. :p

its different per servitor, on ES the one you'll PROBABLY use most is the Unicorn Boxer, it takes only 30% exp. the Unicorn Mirage takes 90% and i've never found a practical use for it honestly  the Unicorn Merrow only takes 10% but it's skills are AoE oriented so make it a situational summon... and finally the unicorn Seraphim only takes 5% but it's a group buffer so again, situational. also keep in mind if you choose a summoner you'll have to pretty much be a nuker until you turn 40 and complete the second class changes, as there are heavy penalties on summoning without masteries... and you'll only have the Boxer(transfer's its MP to you) and the Mirage(wind nuker) until then, the Merrow comes at 40 and Seraphim at 56
you use the 90% guy to manor and farm drops
wont get much xp obviously but its alot cheaper than the other ponies
also you can use it in pvp ^^

lol? Please... nobody really uses the boxer for prolonged grinding anymore, not since the end of C3. You either AoE on half HP mobs if you're rich (or very poor), or you single-target with the merrows melee attacks and assist it.

There is no real excuse to use the boxer. :o If you can't get through the buff round with the merrow, buy some robes and/or a mana up weapon.
well, a friend of mine used to duo in Cruma on his SE with a ES. The Xp they made was insanely fast and they had no downtime. When you get to higher levels both of you would be welcome in mage parties as well.

hmm well i use BW light, a kris and the Boxer. i like to use baby nukes to pull extra mobs from nearby for continuous fighting, and his Recharge makes for good agro transfer :P merrow tends to die unless i have my orc friend with me to root them :(
^^ thanks for the infos about summoners. Sounds pretty interesting. But my bf fears that they don't do well in pvp because of mana burn and banish savior. Once my pony dies i'll prolly die as well.
But it still seems so be an interesting & fun way of lvling. Does lvling speed increase when a summoner equips light armor + duals or so? ><! that would be even more fun imo. Or is that pretty uncommon?

I also took a closer look to SwS skills and i think it wouldn't fit me. It's way too supportative and has no real attack skills & needs big groups to lvl up, while i prefer to have a 2 ppl party with my bf.
So i think i'll have to decide between a Plainswalker & a Summoner now. ^^; I kinda would like to hear some more opinions on the Plainswalker, tho. Daggers seem to be the new hype atm, right?
the 90% summon is for farming and the mnor system, and pvp
the PW is good, you will crit like crazy.
If you want damage, play dagger or archer.
If you want support with some damage, play ES or Sws.
If you want to heal, play EE.

Do not bother with Sps or TK as they are pretty much dead classes.
Awesome I subbed a dead class and loving it~

summoner pvp depends on the player's abilities more than some other classes :P

PW hmm, i haven't played one very far past 40 but of the daggers in my clan i can say they level pretty quick compared to most other melee classes, are good at manor farming and hold up well in a lot of pvp situations... almost never the first target and capable of good damage assuming specials land. fake death can be pretty fun to play with also hehe
I have played a Sword Singer, Silver Ranger and an Elemental Summoner. BY FAR the Elemental Summoner is the most fun and best of all the three. I have also played a Plains Walker and the ES was still better. IMO it is the most underplayed class in the game. And if anyone says they are not good in PVP just dont know the class. The ES hero on Bartz is just unbeatable, and we get cubics that do dammage over time that are just awsome. So if your stuck on Lt Elf go ES you will have a blast. you will be a nuker till you hit 40 though but it is worth the wait.

Fen
if u want a light elf make a plainswalker they're fast many crits, high atc speed and evasion and enough damage to kill easy an opponent
oki, i started to play an elven mystic now. She is lvl 15 and atm i really like the playstyle. ^^! Looking forward to play her at higher lvls later on...
I still wonder if a summoner does well with a sword / duals & light armor later on. Or is it robes all the way?
I'm a fanatic robe-wearer myself, but plenty of people are happy in light armour.

I can't understand it, but that's how it is. :p
I have a elf going to ES...its only lvl 32 but I really look forward to have one. A friend has his future ES lvl 38 and doing quests right now...i think they will get a lot more popular now :P
So now you decided either between ES or PW.

PW will defiantly be "better" in PvP. You are fast and have really damaging skills. Also I would find them more fun with silent step and whatnot, and really if you are duoing with a Prophet, it will be super fast leveling.

ES on the other hand, won't be bad in pvp but just don't expect to "pwn" in pvp. Really I think if one of you is going a support class I would go damage dealer as the other class. ES are cool, but they are semi-support themselves, they support their summons.

Overall you are just going have to think threw if you want to have pets and if you plan on just duoing your way up. PvP being slightly important, but PvE being something you find fun. Go dagger if you plan on being a big pvper, like speed, and would rather not have a pet.

The beast master or the assassin, your choice.

but just don't expect to "pwn" in pvp.

Few classes do solo ganks better than summoners.

Not everything is stacked buffs 9v9 - and of course in stacked 9v9s, being the only class that can cure stun, silence and root (until interlude) is pretty 'pwn'.

ES on the other hand, won't be bad in pvp but just don't expect to "pwn" in pvp. Really I think if one of you is going a support class I would go damage dealer as the other class. ES are cool, but they are semi-support themselves, they support their summons.

hey, maybe the PP/SE could get a hatchling or wolf :p then they can chill and support thier pets while gaining exp eh? until ES get's jealous of PP's strider later anyway lol
Yeah, but lets just say for example...

Get Prophet buffs, you know your target is in a catacomb. Silent step threw the mobs, find your target, back stab, done! Not to mention quick get away by running away from your opponent threw a room of aggros.

Or Seige PvP, buffed and a fast melee which can easily drop a parties support and drop a busy nuker like a knife cuts paper.

The PvP I am speaking of isn't pvp where it is 1v1, 1v2, 2v2, whatever where both parties know that pvp is going to happen. At high levels pvp starts getting bigger and bigger...

Lets face it, the best pvp happens at high levels mainly because that is where the most people are at.

Not saying summoners are bad. But in large scale pvp your going to have to worry a lot more about erase and whatnot. They are good in pvp, and in some small group pvp they really shine. They can summon friends which is a pretty **** skill which will help ya get those ToI 10 parties if you log out up there.

Comparing a dagger to a summoner is hard. They are just so different. But a dagger is the natural born killer outa the two. Not to mention that Dagger users can efficiently use bows too if need be.

Like I said, summoners aren't bad in pvp, and can do pretty well. My spectral master friend is great (DE summoner) but if I was going to 1v1 he probably wouldn't win whereas a Plains Walker would have a better chance.

They are both good classes each having their own perks. But if you think you are going to be hardcore pvp, yes...Plains Walker!
eeeeeek the confusions again! *lol*
Prolly i should try out both classes after all and see which one i like more after 40+. It just will be some work to get both up that high. ^^;
At the moment pvp doesn't really matter much to me, but i can imagine that later on if i found a good guild it will become more and more important.
That sounds as if the Plainswalker levels faster together with the PP than the ES would do. I always thought it would be the other way round and we could just Duo our way up with ES/PP but that we would need an additional killer / party for the PW.
Also i can't really imagine how my usual playstyle of the PW would look like. Is its mainly click -> target -> watch? (cause i think that could bore me overtime) or does it include more of a different spell usage? I made 2 newbie characters. 1 is an elven fighter & one an elven mystic and so far i find myself having more fun with the mystic cause of the spells & the faster lvling speed. I'm sure that could easily change later on tho. >.<
But yes, of course you guys are right. It's not really possible to compare 2 classes which are so different.

Unlike most others, I'd differently would not go SpS. they have horrible MP management! and sense the sleep neirf of C5 they can't protect them selfs.

SR has the lowest P atk of the 3 archers. but probably the fastest atk speed, and highest crt rate.

PW has the lowest P atk, but they crt so **** much they will still dish out alot of dmg. their skils land alot from what I can tell. I (BD) was lvling with a PW, SR, PP, with out of party 56+ PP. we killed so fast we cleaned out 3-4 rooms in minutes, and mobs wouldn't respawn fast enough.

SwS is really nice class, great for archer or dagger partys, and really good for small parties.

TK sucks, is a tank. has low dmg out put. and aborbe alot of dmg. but they still wont find any party that will pick them up!

eeeeeek the confusions again! *lol*

well, PW is a dagger... most dagger skills have a % chance to land, that % being higher when you are behind or to the side of whatever you plan on hitting, not meant to tank monsters head-on but it will work okay as long as you have your SE/PP to back you up. dagger's are generally good melee physical damage, but low HP's and sort of squishy :p
horrible MP management.... hmm is that a problem for ES too? Or are they doing fine?

Also, could anyone of you give me a little more info about how the playstyle of a PW would look like? ><!
Is it just target -> click -> watch monsters die or does it include alot of skill usage?

Also i was wondering if TK and SwS are the only 2 elfen classes that would profit from heavy armor? (and use it of course) I'm almost tempted to play one of them later on just cause the armor looks so ****. *lol* ^_~

You can solo all day long with no need to worry about something called "MP"...
"MP Management" ... not in the dictionary of an ES ;)

summoners will never have MP management issues if you play the class properly :P i suppose it's always possible to run out of mana being silly and using level 36 nuke skills on level 58 monsters... that would dry you up!

PW.. yeah click and watch, you'll run out of mana for skills quickly if you use a skill every kill, probably every-other kill too

TK and SwS are the only classes with masteries for heavy armor, meaning it will do more for them than anyone else... however, i have seen the occasional dagger or archer in heavy armor. never played that way myself so i'm not sure how effective it is :p

Amys, do you really play an ES at all? =_= It's perfectly possible to nuke around that level without MP management issues... it got recently boosted because the nukes no longer fail as much. It can actually make some things easier...

And yes, PSs (also summoners) definitely have the worst MP management issues in the game - they don't even need to use spells to consume it.

SwS do not get heavy armour masteries. Only Elven Knights do.
I would like to say anyhow that TK can be a very fun class if you enjoy a less damage heavy tank class that is good at supporting himself. Not something for everyone to enjoy but still a good class in my opinion =)

Other than that a PW is very fun and an SWS could be fun since then you can go heavy armor and try your best to do as much damage as possible =)

hmm yes i do and unless i have the Boxer out, which you seem to have no love for :(, that type of play will burn through my mana faster than any other class i've ever played. you'll end up sitting

Edit: whether the SwS got its masteries as a knight or not it will always have more of em than a caster or rogue type
If you don't want to manage MP at all, play a warsmith ! But you'll get fun management issues...

and best LE class = SR or PW !
