A true newb in the midst! (that would be me)

Hi everyone on bartz!

I purchased myself the Epic Collection 4 days ago, and I am still coming to grips with the game. I made the wise choice of reading up on every scam I could find online so that I can avoid them!

I chose a Dark Elf Fighter as my class, and so far have reached level 10.

I really like the way the game plays compared to WOW and Guildwars, its alot less story driven, and more do-what-you-want type thing.

The aconomy scares me greatly, but from what I've read, my income will increase as my level does.

if you want to say hi ingame, or run around doing stuff, my avatars name is Silicor!
OK a couple tips for you do the adena making quests, stratics has a nice list of them. Never sell you mats to the npc stores ex vernish coal iron ore etc. Try not to get in to big a rush to level take your time hunt more for adena then xp. Also dont buy the item you want from the first shop that is selling it, and try negotiating on the price. Welcome to L2 and GL
you may also want to see if some clan wants to put you in their academy. They get clan rep points when you graduate and you can get good game tips and make some ingame friends.

GL and welcome to the best kept secret in MMORPGs

Thanks for the tips!

Is an academy like a place in clans for newbies? sounds interesting!

I managed to get some serious grinding done last night, went from level 9 to level 14!! Made myself about 22K in adena, and I am now carrying alot of materials.

you said not to sell them to merchants, do you recommend I setup a shop and sell them that way? or look for players wanting to buy them?

Also, can I get rid of my squire gear? or do I need it for something later? I cant sell it, and i cant drop it.

I know what you mean by best-kept-secret, I played WOW using the trial, and the graphics just bugged me to know end, it was like playing warcraft 3 in high res LOL
Guildwars graphics are probably a little better than this game, but the instanced world, while great when your a lower level, really distances you from other players, as you are only ever going to meet other players in towns. plus getting to level 20 in that game means your levelling days are over!

Thanks for the good words! and ill check out that adena quest list!
Look for players in "Buy shops" wanting to buy your materials. Although I recommend seeing how much the merchant wants for em compared to the player. This way you get the most money out of your mats since some players do scam at times.

and I am now carrying alot of materials.

Store those in your warehouse....That will free up your slots on your character.

Also, can I get rid of my squire gear? or do I need it for something later? I cant sell it, and i cant drop it.

Drop it in the little trash can on your Inventory screen when you are done with it.

:>
Or use it as bait for reds when you get higher level.
LOL to above

slowly trudging up the level ladder LOL, managed to get myself to level 15! I'm actually started to like the grind LOL, thats scary
Oh dont worry , its gonna get alot slower very fast!

I dont think anyone answered your question about the academy.
Yes the academy is a section in clans (lvl 5 or above) for toons from lvl 1->40. The intent was to encourage clans to recruit newbs and low level toons.

I would also want to give another few tips:
Make sure you get the newb buffs from the newbie helper. They are godlike buffs for low level toons.

Save your money, dont telepot, run instead.
Look up quests on stratics, I know some give 60k to 100k adena reward. Some give decent weapons for new players.
Hi there.
I would recommand that you store all your matrials in the WH enstead of selling em off.

At the higher levels the cheapest way to get equipment is to craft it, and that way you will have a part of the basic matrials your going to need already!
Crafting isn't always a guaranteed success. Some crafts fail, which is why I sell every material I get and even delevel a time or two so I can buy gear that has already been crafted. Plus I do the manor system.
This is very important. The econemy is based around Giran's tax rate which is currently 7% You shouldn't buy from Other NPC shop's (unless the cost of porting offsets it) Giran's prices will effect you thru Early C Grade (which can be purchased via the luxury shop) and will always have some effect on the prices on the server.

As you level into top non grade and then D check the prices In Giran. If it can't be purchased cheaply of a Player's shop then get it from Giran's NPC shops.

At your level you can't really afford to get ripped off. Your also going to want some nice 107 Dual's eventually (probably if you go that route)

You can get the non enchanted ones for 2.2- 2.5M in Dion...... AVOID THOSE!!!!! You can make them your self by going to giran Buying a Elven sword and a Bastard sword. Then buying Dcrystals for 640ish and land up making the duals yourself for 1.9M (at giran's blacksmith)

Selling tips: Selling your gear for slightly less then shop price will always get it sold Specially D grade and higher. But make sure it's a item that's accually available in a shop. Certain set pieces are craft/drop only and command a premium so you don't want to go to low ... and yet also don't want to be to greedy!

I found that using the manor system thru your late 20s and on into your 30s is a excellent way to generate coin. You won't get the drops (keep that in mind) as they are null once you've seeded something but you will get adena dropping to. You can easily make enough to get into your level 40 low tier C gear.

If your looking for some ingame tips or have some questions (and I am not afk) feel free to send me a tell... As a crafter im on 24/7 but usually only at the comp for a 1/4 of that (sell shop and all)

Good luck and welcome to the leveling hell that can be the game of L2. :) (thankfully due to several tweaks you wont notice this much till your very high levels!)
