Hello all. I'm a noob... the noobiest of the noobs. This is so because I haven't even got the client istalled... its still downloading from fileplanet. Anyway Here is my question. What is the best race/class combination to start out with as a noob. Here is my qualification for the "Best" It has to be the most forgiving for early mistakes. Thanks in advance Lineagers!
Its really no a best race, all the races should the same for a new player. Maybe a Human would be the best since you have more choices to pick when you do the first class-change. If you havent done it check out all the classes in the game on this site.
The beautiful thing about L2 is that all the mistakes you could make that have permanent consequences (mostly loss of money) are independant of the class and race you choose.
Listen around a little and say what kind of playstyle you are interested in, then I'm sure someone can give you more specific recommendations.
hmm well first, check the maintenance times considering servers just went down for a few hours :P if you finish installing and patching before thier back up logging in wont work so great ^^
until you get a better feel for the game its hard to suggest a class, and you'll probably bouce between a few before finding one you enjoy... dwarves tend to make good money after levelling up, but thier not a lot of fun for most people, healers/buffers are always in high demand with other support classes like BD/SwS a close second. humans have the most choices, and are generally pretty good no matter which way you pick :P classes i would suggest waiting to experiment with are Overlords(orc) and summoners(light elf, darkelf, human) because! OL's must have a good clan to level well and those can be hard to find at first, and summoners can be pretty expensive if you're not used to the market and have no money to build on. that's not to say they aren't great classes though, just difficult to begin with :P
and a final bit of advice: the whole game is not as dead as the starter towns, nor are there as many "bad players" named fdgfdgbl running around >.> but when you do reach more populated places, beware of scammers! do not ever EVER trade or drop anything you aren't willing to lose forever, no matter how good thier story sounds! L2 GMs will not reimburse your scammed items :)
I don't know if any of you are familliar with City of Heroes/Villians but I've been playing that rather exclusively since May of 2005. There my favorite charachter type was a scrapper. She was a claws regen scrapper and her play style was one of never stopping... its was one large scrapperlock and a heck of a good time. It was a flavor of the month build but it was fun. Anyway I like action and movement but not so much pvp. I know I'm getting into a hotbed somewhat with lineage as it geared towards pvp but the "Clan" idea is very interesting. And I'm going to have to learn to like PvP .... maybe its like a fine wine... takes age to make it good. further suggestions based on that information would be appreciated. Anyway when I play a game it is usually pretty exclusive and I made an executive decision to drop CoX for a while and come to lineage.
Of course please don't take that as I don't like CoX its just that after 18 months of play I need an extended Hiatus. I hope I can do pretty well.

no designated RP servers, and theres not a lot of RPers around :P the only difference between servers is lag and timezones supposedly :P get some interesting ping sometimes depending on where you live

In CoX there wasn't a designated RP server BUT Virtue server was the unnofficial RP server. Is there a Lineage equivalant? would be the more appropriate question.
Lionna is hte unofficial RP server, if you liked an up close , continuous hunting class i might recommend phantom summoner. The downside is you have to endure 40 levels of being a nuker. The upside is it's fun.
Yes, a summoner class sounds like your kind of thing - I say try any of them. My personal fave is ES, but I've never levelled a PS, only played a high level one on the test server for a few weeks.
