I have seen several videos with SK vs. BD and all of the SKs come out on top. This confused me, because I heard that BDs did more damage and such and that SKs aren't good at doing damage really. So why would the SK seem to have an advantage?
Is it the cubics or something? Just curious because I was pretty much set on being a BD but when I saw them getting ripped up by supposedly crappy tanks/DDs I started to have second thoughts... And do SKs do more damage than BDs or something? Again, thoughts?
Gracias.
P.S. Spare me the "Zomg 1v1 pvp sux and neva happens" speech :p because I am just curious here.
BD aren't all that great 1v1; they will outdamage the SK but the SK has better defense, cubics, and drains. Apart from its low HP the SK is one of the better tanks in terms of its skills, so it's not exactly a weak opponent.
BD in a group makes a group of gods ;) well it's not that extreme but it's quite powerful. BD are made for groups, and in group v. group they're an absolutely indispensible component.
I suppose your already aswered your own question.
A SK is a TANK class that does decent damage.
A BD is a support class that does decent damage, but more than a SK.
The BD cant inflict enough damage on the SK (tank). The BD doesnt have that much Hp to start with. Oh and the BD doesnt have any uber attack pvp skill as far as I know. They always have UD I guess.... and dont know if hex ever lands in pvp.
Anyways, all speculatioins!
Correct me anyone if Im wrong.
Cause thats what happens when I try to attack a tank class with my battle prophet. I end up doing 10-15 damage a swing to the tank that has who knows how much hp, and the tank ends up doing ok damage i guess.... but I run out of hp alot faster than the tank ever will.
Similar level SK and BD PvP's will generally go to the SK. This is especially true at later levels, not only because of the cubics and nukes, but also because of armor masteries.
A DD build SK can be a tremendous foe in any type of PvP. They have a wide range of skills that focus on making opponents do less damage, and take more damage. SK and BD share a drain, and some attack skills like Hex and Powerbreak. And while I may not do nearly as much damage as a BD with just self buffs, I can cause a BD to lose a lot of damage capability with my magic.
SK and BD share the following skills: Hex, Power Break, Drain Health, Freezing Strike, Arrest, Sting and Poison
BD gets four main dances for PvP: Fire, Warrior, Fury, and Vampire
SK gets the following skills: 3 cubic (1 debuff, 1 drain, 1 poison), Life Leech (drain). Lightning Strike (paralyze), Judgement (lower Accuracy), Shield Mastery, Heavy Armor Mastery, Guard Stance, and Final Fortress.
The cubics hit hard and fast, especially so at later levels. Vampiric cubic can do quite a bit of damage at later levels (last PvP against my brother at level 55 I did over 200 damage each time it hit, and it hit him about 6 times in our PvP) Poison Cubic can quickly drain an opponents CP and HP, and has a far better landing rate than Poison spell or Poison Blade Dance. And the Phantom Cubic lands Hex, Curse: Weakness, and Wind Shackle debuffs.
Don't get me wrong, a BD is nothing to sneeze at, moreso at higher levels, but they really aren't made to take out tanks in a 1v1 setting. Tanks, in general, take quite a few hits to kill in most cases, especially if UD goes off. And in combination with Final Fortress, can mean very little damage from an opponent.
1v1 a savvy SK should be capable of beating a DB many leves higher than its own.
BDs are, as was stated earlier, an extremely important componant in group pvp, but are one of the worst class to 1v1 with.
I can't think of any tank that should loose consistantly to a BD, but least of all an SK... LS is dangerous, and BDs aren't known for their exeptional M.Def.
How ever, they are a fun class and fast lvling class to play.
A BD will out lvl a SK.
SK has a second lvl UD while BD only has lvl 1, and isn't upgraded in 3rd class. while SK can over-enchant his UD.
The main problem with BD, is low HP do to their low CON, which is also the cause for them getting stunned supper easily. which at 61+ becomes a major problem cause out side of catas their is no where for a BD to lvl at with out getting stunned.(not many places that I've found atlest)
Another reason why a BD would lose out is cause after lvl 36 BD no longer gets any P DF passives like the SK does.
I love my BD and wouldn't trade it for a SK to save my life!
oh BTW, for PvP vamp isn't that great. it's more about inspiration which adds accuracy. but that hardly gets put up unless your party asks for it. normally it's: Furry, Fire, Warrior.
