Two questions: Sorceror and Seals

Player Questions Started Last reply 16 posts
1st. So i have a human wizard lvl 23 and i would really like to work on a mage. ( i am currently deleting a character to make room for aeither a prophet or some healer class) anyways i digress. I would like to go Sorceror, but all i keep hearing is they suck and i should go necro. Well basically, i wanna know why they suck. i like the look of sum of the skills. would people totally ignore me in party if i went Sorceror?

2nd. I am on Liona server. And i went Dawn. am I screwed? lol. last cycle dawn won. can anyone on lionna give me a heads up? thanks. :)
Reason why people don't like the Sorcs these days is cause Sorcs are AoE nukers. Well, you need an AoE sleep when the Sh*t hits the fan, right? Wrong. Sleep is now nerfed beyound the point of being even remotely useful, so there goes your AoE nuking.

You can still xp as you have a single target Nuke.
Don't forget the whole mana thing. Necro and SH can both solo without too much mana due to Body to mind and they have a substitute spell that costs significantly less mp than their main spell does (Death Spike.)

Sorcerors get about 3 minutes of up time to 7 minutes of down time, same with spellsinger. They absolutely MUST find an elder to duo with, or spend a great deal of time sitting on their butt. (On the up side, if you're in school, you have plenty of time to do homework.)
The merrow can tank AoE fine with me healing it - I'm sure it would be no problem for a sorcerer if they took an EE with them. Or, you know, an elder and a tyrant or gladiator.

Or you know, the OP was all about Sorcs. So I answered it with info about Sorcs, and not who should they party with.

By the way, EE's don't have Empower, Sorc is a Nuker, now I don't play a sorc, but I play a Necro, and Necro is a Nuker. So to me, a Nuker IS a Nuker. Every bit of M.atk counts.

So why in the world would I party up with an EE when it would benefit me a lot more to party up with an SE?

Hell, I would even party up with a Bladedancer before I party up with an EE. No offence to those who play EE's, but that's just not a class I'd party with.....ever.

Also, there are a lot more SE's than EE's running around. Waiting for just for the right lvl EE to come by and LFG'ing would be a miracle, especially if you find such an EE within an hour or two.
SpS is better than sorc..

special at higer lvls in PvP

SpS 78+ > all
Sorcs are fun.. as are SpS. Otherwise I wouldnt play one :P
EEs are also great to have in party. I dont get nukers who think otherwise. An efficient mp source that can reduce your mp costs, increase your defence, and provide you with a lot of healing power and can crowd control when you accidently aggro too many mobs... sounds good to me :) SEs are good too... I just wouldnt turn down an EE to any of my groups/duos.

Oh.. and people who think aoe sleep are useless are probably in parties that dont need it to begin with. I still use it... regularly. Only difference is now you have to start casting it before you really need it. E.g., you see a group, you cast before you aggro it. Or if a tank is pulling, you cast before the tank aggros it. Its no longer an emergency skill, its a pre-emptive crowd control skill. If your group kills most of the mobs before you cast sleep cloud... then your group probably didnt need it anyways... :)

Ice/Fire/Wind Vortex's are truly awesome :)
Sorcs are still a viable class. Some people are just upset because a skill was changed that made the player change the way he leveled his toon. With the addition of mana pots dropping the down time is next to non existent. If you like to play with fire, then play a sorc. They are a fun class and do just as well as they have always done.
Im my opinion, sorcs dont suck. You just have to learn how to play them. And since you have never played one, you wont notice the differences.

That's a silly point of view. A BD can make you cast faster, and hit harder. If you're playing a sorc or a sps you're still going to sit for 10 minutes out of every 12.

Take an EE. You get Wild Magic, and you sit for 10 minutes out of every 30.

For that matter, unless you XP off in the middle of nowhere, everybody thinks the clarity buff is REALLY cool. They'll probably even trade empower for clarity.

empower herbs anyone? the fact that EE's can generate more MP for you than SE's now that we have clarity should count for something... obviously if there is a SE lfg and no EE to be seen its logical to take the SE instead of waiting around >.> but no reason to ignore an EE of appropriate level if there is no SE at hand.
The mana is no longer an issue with either an EE or SE where herbs drop. If you're with an SE then let the SE grab the mana pots and you almost double the mp you get. With an EE then just try to grab as many emp herbs as you can.

In all honesty during the whole time I've played L2, I've met maybe 5 or so EE's. So see, what it comes to counting fingers and toes, I didn't even ran out of fingers.

yeah, but you said this earlier..

just because there aren't many, does not make the class as worthless as you seem to think it is. i could say more but i think it would be wasted :p attitudes such as yours are why there are so few EEs to begin with...
then don't, save yourself a tear on my count, and I still stand by my original post =)

SE > BD > EE

you see, a while ago, I had what might be called an "Epiphany". Since then, the only person I care when I log in, is Me, Myself and I, but I have tried very hard to actually give a **** about the people around me(in-game), but it just didn't work out for me and that's a whole other topic, and one I'm not willing to talk about.
Hey, if you don't give a crap about mana regeneration and sitting as opposed to standing when you run out of mana, it's your ballgame. Strike out if it makes you feel better :)
EE > SE when you're tanking your own AoE for the point heals.

Good luck surviving on greater heals. :p
