A guy messages me with name identical to my hunting friends name. Except its one letter difference ok?
Well he then starts saying something along the lines of "Hey bro its me, give your weapon to my new dwarf so&so for a sec."
The dwarf he says this too is sitting their trying to open a trade window.
I pulled up chat window and took a screenshot of all of this, can they be banned for this or punished? The flaw the morons made, was that the name of the friend they coppied just so happends to be my Other Charter(I 2 box). Haha what a joke right? Thanks much for any help.
man, the things people will do to screw you over. Haha was funny though watching them impersonate me. I should have been like "Ok, as trust give me your weapon first, just so i'll know its you."
Its even funnier when they pm you trying to convince you that they are your main.
Me and a bunch of clannies where sitting in town, and this guy who had my mains name(1 letter difference) started by pming me. I found it weird that I was trying to pm myslef for my own gear >< Anyways, they then pmed my BF, then my dad, then my bro.... lets just say it didnt quite work :P
The correct response to these stupid scammers is "Here's your sign" :p
but be careful for this type of scam anyways (or any of them) cuz it's perfectly legal

here's one more for the books one of my friend(french again) got Pmed by her own husband fake name toon in english while he was sitting next to him in IRL she got a kick out of it
O forgot this one i really got a kick out of it when i got Pmed by my own buffslave while she was logged and next to me in english as always loll i always pm my in english lolll.

I had a guy try that name cam with me once. He was trying to impersonate someone in my alliance, whom I was talking to on Ventrilo at the time. I was running out of Oren on my way to Apo when the guy started talking to me. I ewas halfway down the ramp, talking to my friend in Vent and said: "Sure, I'll show you my weapon" The scammer, was promptly dead on the ground, I was red, and he was like "wth are you doing?!?!?!" Was one of the best things I have ever done I think. :)

Happens alot. They use me and my RL boyfriend all the time. But they did try it wil my Boxed proph the other day. I lol-ed It was cassic.. i traded my box my SOM and eqed it on him and the dorf was like wait no i need to see it on my Dorf.. I was like silly buff bot you don't have a dorf. The dorf just logged.
Someone has tried this exact same scam with me. The problem is they were using the name of my buffbot. I may play the game long hours, but the minute that my toons start talking too each other without me actively using the keyboard, it's time to quit the game and seek serious professional help. Seriously.
But my all time favorite scam? The overenchant scam...
Scammer: "Hi, nice duals. How many +++?"
Me: "Thanks. Just 12."
Scammer: " Nice. I can +2 your weapon for you."
Me: "Thanks, but no thanks. I know how to enchant already."
Scammer: "But I can give you +2 more. Guaranteed not to fail ever. Here, trade me and I..."
Me: "No chance. I enchant all the time. I trust my luck more than I trust your guaranty. But I tell you what -- if you can make another one of these now, I will give this one too you for free." (Equips +16 Kris and shows to scammer) "Deal?"
Scammer: "Sorry, but +2 only works for blue weapons. I broke other weapon trying +7, when they turn red."
Just to stop this ... it's rule that anyone trying name scam on our clan ... has to give over there weapon first ...before getting another. The scammer won't pass over there weapon and if they do ...they then get to follow me to WH and watch as I make a deposit...free weapon cool!
