Just went to Stratics site to look something up and received a virus warning for VBS/Psyme so if you have virus detector turned off don't go there or turn it on.
I'd suggest sending a PM to LordChaos666 about this as well. Thanks for the warning.

Virus Alert General News - Tuesday December 12 2006 2:35 PM PST | Posted By: LordChaos666

Dear User,

Early this morning we discovered that an attacker had placed malicious code on our sites that may pose a security threat for some users. The code exploited a vulnerability in Internet Explorer and attempted to install the Downloader.Delf.11.AZ trojan.

We have removed the offending code and as of this moment our sites are completely safe. It should be noted that this warning applies only to our web content and not the forums, which were never compromised. Additionally, users of non-IE browsers should not be affected.

If you have visited our sites within the past 48 hours using Internet Explorer we encourage you to run a virus scan using your preferred anti-virus software or a Free web page scanner (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/).

Please feel free to contact [email protected] if you have any further questions, comments or concerns.

they already know they ask you to check your computer as well a link if you don't have a anti-virus.

p.s. im glad im using Firefox. :D
but i whent to that site 2 min ago, guess its not gone. or its back again
Its back again. Its been back twice through some exploit. The tech team is working through the christmas to figure out how it keeps reappearing.

I still urge you to use a good solid virus scanner (grisoft has one for free at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 ) and check your system regularly.

This does not affect non-ie users.
I pm'd ya as soon as I figured out that it wasn't my system allso this is different than one on the 12'th. According to McAffee this is an old one circa 03 and and was found on a large Korean web site. McAffee blocked it from loading so if you got latest I assume you are safe.
Norton Internet Security blacked an intrusion attempt on my system. I can PM you with the information it gave me if you want.
Couldn't they just redirect the adress to another server to bypass this? (Sry for being an E-N00B)
Is this only affecting IE?
Yup hole in IE didn't list any more
Yes, its only affecting IE.

No, directing it to another server won't help, since it would be just as vulnerable as the previous one.

Since its Christmas Eve, I am not sure how many, if any, of the tech team is on.

It will get resolved as fast as we can. Thank you for your understanding and I hope you all have a merry christmas.
The issue has been fixed, the virus is no longer there, please email me at lordchaos <at> stratics.com if you see it resurfacing. Thanks.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
The moral of this story: dont use explorer
Never use IE, it is the work of the devil
Sorry Stratics had to deal with that, especially over the holiday. I suppose I'll leave my holiday wish for the punk(s) who spread that malicious code between me and my evil-wish-granter.
