whats the point of language filter?

Whats the point of having language filter in this game? I got a warning for profanity, even though I didnt go around the filter and most of the words were -_-. And when gm pasted into email, what hes giving me the warning for, all the profanity words were there, instead of -_-, like it was on the chat screen.

Don't -_-ing swear so -_-ing much and you'll be -_-ing fine.
