In the world of MMORPGs, all intelligence is lost. This is one of the few places where its cool to be completely stupid. The way you communicate and interact with others is the biggest part of being cool, so here's my guide to being one of the cool, regular players on any MMORPG.
1. Attitude
- This is the most important part of being cool, so read close and be sure to follow every step.
A. "I am the best." - Say this to yourself every time before you click that LineageII.exe. You know more than everyone, you are smarter, and you are always right. It doesn't matter that you have only been playing for a week, you are still better than everyone.
B. It's your duty to let the whole server that you're better than them.
2. Language and Lingo
- Here are a few words/sayings to use in your every day conversations.
A. baf my plix - Say this to everyone. And I mean everyone. Say this at any given, random time. All your peers will appreciate it and you'll be the talk of the town.
B. 10x - This is the newest super cool way to say, "Thanks." And for those of you who have no clue what the word "thanks" is, its also "tnx".
C. n00b - This is what you call anyone and everything. What does it mean? Well just that you're the coolest M.F. to ever walk any MMORPG is what it means. Use it proudly and loudly. There are many variations to this well know, very cool word:
- newbie (for those of you who just aren't cool enough to use 0's)
- noob (you discovered the word "newbie" yesterday)
- n00b (you discovered 0's make everything cool)
- n00bz0rz (Only for those really **** cool people who are better then almost everyone)
- n00bx0rz3rz0r (Top of the chain. Don't use this unless you are sure you're the coolest person ever; You put the Fonz to shame)
D. jajajajajajaja/xaxaxaxaxaxa - What does it mean? **** if I know, but it sure is super cool to use after every word you spit out.
E. "u gib adena noe plix" - This works best in Giran. Say this to anyone while spamming them with trade requests and they will be sure to empty their pockets for you.
3. The chat system
- L2 has a very diverse chat system, but theres only two channels you'll ever need to use, and please, use them all you can.
A. General chat. This is where you get to use !Shout and show off your uber l33t skillz with your CAPSLOCK KEY. Never turn it off, if you do, you will look weak in the eyes of others. CAPSLOCK is how you are cool when talking.
B. Trade. Only use this when you want to simply chat with others. Remember, its not for trading, you should use the general chat and !Shout WITH CAPSLOCK for trading.
4. Playing well with others
A. PK anyone who looks like they are AFK, or at least 20 levels lower then you. You are the best, you are the strongest, show it by killing all the weakest and vulnerable people you see. Be sure to use some of the words we discussed in part 2 after you kill someone.
For example say, "u n00bx0rz3rz0r jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja" after you shoot 20 arrows into an AFK player.
B. Even though you're the coolest and best player already, act like you're poor. See part 2.E.
C. PVP. This one is a little tricky. Like PKing, you only want to go against people 20 or more levels below you. Also, make sure you have full buffs and that the person you want to PVP with has none. This will insure how much better and cooler then them you are.
D. Using other languages. This is a key point to being cool. If someone ever makes you feel stupid, use a language they don't speak to say things like, "I slept with your mom. It was good." - Even though they don't know what you're saying and will continue to call you a coward because you cant even talk [censored] back in their language, all your friends will want to give you high fives for showing them up in a language they don't know or even care about.
E. GM communication. Since you are the coolest, most important person on this server, spam all the GMs with any problem you may have. Someone kill you? Tell a GM! Think you're character is bugged because someone kicked your ***? Tell a GM! Don't have any problems? Demand that a GM comes to you, then tell them you forgot. It's your job to waste their time with useless ********.
Best regards, MrTeacher.
p.s. I apologize for any unorthodox words to be found above.
I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!
Oh and you forgot if you are a class like a HE with epic jewels and a drac bow, jajajajaja that much more when you kill a support class like a EE or bishop. Alone. With mobs on them.

LOL
Sir! I have a question: -Can you use jajajajajaja and xaxaxaxaxa simultaneously? Or even combine them to jaxajaxajaxajaxaja?
Even more LOL :D
I asked some greeks once what the deal was with xa0xa0xa0 and so forth. The answer was, that they just like to press as many keys as possible when they laugh. Not sure if I'm satisfied with that answer :p
I wrote this because I think one's attitude in game is a very important thing, especially if one considers Lineage2 is, first of all, a social game. That's why acting stupid on purpose denotes, in many cases, home education everyone of us has been given. I, of course, should have been change my "guide" meanwhile, for I wrote it a very long time ago, back on late C1, but nevertheless, I still can find it amusing and, why not, useful, at least, to some of us.
I'm glad, people here, on retail, are so receptive.

I agree, doctor. I played this tune a while back in a post called Darkmotion's guide to being an idiot.
Oh and a small correction, the NEW cool word for n00b is nb. Good greif I hate it how kids these days just remove all the vowels.
People here, on retail, also have a few teachers lurking around.
I found this guide to be very accurate; however, there was one phrase I didn't see that puts you above the rest in Lineage 2. I've included it so that everyone can step up to the cool kids club.
"Don't make me bring my main!" (also "I'm bringing my main now!")
Saying this after you die saves you from being uncool. This can be used even if you are on your main. Saying this even if you are on your main saves yourself from being laughed at. This phrase will not only strike fear into the hearts of all that are around but also make you seem uber cool because...dun dun dun....you have an even HIGHER character than the one you are on. After you have uttered these words...nobody will ever remember the fact that you died. Now that's hot....
I absolutely have no idea by what means those stars appeared next to my post, and I'd be glad to find out that myself. (nor do I understand the exact meaning of it, although I got an idea). This is my first time I play Lineage II on retail servers, and I still need a bit of time to get used to it. Also, please allow me to remind you that one's avatar is one's concern exclusively.
As for the fact that you hate me, well, I got used to this feeling a very long time ago.
Sometimes, it makes me wonder, though: isn't comedy a funny way of being serious?

Heh. I also am of the belief that the manner in which a person acts in an environment where they have anonymity, freedom from consequence and liberty to apoproach each situation in any way they choose reflects their true self.
Hardcore roleplayers may be an exception to that general idea, but they are also often recognizeable as such.
The people who tend to balk and flame me for that beliefe are, shockingly, the ones who tend to cheat, grief, smack-talk, follow the guide herein, etc..

Oh my lord.....
We now have darkmotion which is the unstoppable force and MrTeacher which is the unmovable mountain. :D

Well then of course I will indulge you, doctor. Those stars were once used as a system for players to rate themselves and their posts with a star system. You could rate any other player or any thread with 1-5 stars.
It was said to have been PK'd (the system) by Mistryl, but from what I am seeing it just seems as she kept to rate threads for the folks (and removed the player ratings alltogether).
So the stars is another person who thought your post was really good. Here, let me take one away from you.
The rest were just basic personnality type questions. Welcome to the boards doctor. Comedy can be used as a teaching tool.
Well it doesn't have to be an NCSoft employee, anyone can rate threads, just scroll to the bottom of the page and there's your chance.
As for the original post, it's quite scary for all the time I've been playing I've never seen 10x used. Until just after I read this post, and then saw someone using it in Dion..
Edit: Someone is sneaky with those edits :p. Making me look like a fool, but what should I expect?
