There seems to be an on/off switch for this quest. Take your nuker to the IT pit and once the coins start dinging then kill as many mobs as you can as fast as you can. When it stops dinging coins then slow down and mana up. Kill slowly until you start dinging coins again.
That will get him Gold Wyverns. I will agree, the drop rate on this quest is frustrating. I will be interested to see if others have any good advice.
FYI, if you want to make Level 1 collector, you'll need 220 each of Gold Wyverns, Blood Medusas and Silver Unicorns. From my experience below level 60, the best places are:
Blood Medusas - Timak Orc Soldiers and Archers
Gold Wyverns - Shackles in IT Crater (they are also in DV)
Silver Unicorns - Formors around IT and Oel Mahums in Outlaw Forest, north of IT.
like i have told every person in the game and seems i'm going to do the same here if your doing the coin quest to be come a royal member do not do it when your the same level of the mobs is a waste of your time period.
keep leveling forget about the quest for the time being when your higher level then is when you can do the quest without the stressful moment of waiting.
no one believes me until they try it and here is the trick in all the quest that are made in the game.

you could be the in level 70+ and you will still get them. if is easy for me and my friend's to be Royal Member in 4 days so can everyone but since most prefer to buy them thats their problem.
You don't have to be the same level. I can take my 70+ SE to DV and rake in the Golds.
It does, however, get old to kill dark blue mobs for coins. I'm quite glad that they've increased the number of mobs that drop coins, and made them do so at higher levels, too. It made absolutely no sense that to get a recipe for a weapon that you could use from 61-75+, you had to farm mobs that were below level 55.
