Summoner weapon

yet again, Im asking for some advice on Agrade wep for a sumoner. got myself some more experiance with different weapons, and SAs, but wanna ask again what you experianced summoners think.

for Bgrade, im 99% sure my +8 Aoba Health is about the best weapon I can get. I always hit, or well, almost always.
got me a +9 kesh focus some days ago, and thougtj, aya, now ill smack out a LOT more damage, with like 170 critical rate (dont remember exact) instead of 52 with the aoba.. but...ermm...no...I actualy do LESS damage.. (I have 58+ PP/SE buffs) my normal hits with the kesh is less, my critts are less? (wth...??!?) and I miss a LOT. and i mean a LOT!! sure, I guess counting misses, I critt twice as much or even more, but the critts dont make up for all the misses. and dagger...well...they miss even more...

so, what to get for Agrade?
BO focus? still, I will miss terrible much...cant se it worth it.
MS focus? this must be a badass wep for a summoner..a blunt AND focus!!?? o.O realy considering it! if i can find a OE MS (sorry im addicted to OE weps)
or keep my aoba health? would work, but its booring!

any other suggestions?
i'm only a low summoner, but i was told and use duels, i like them, i hardly miss and do a fair amount of damage (and i don't use SS with them, just bsps for heals) and my cubic fires alot it seems with these more than the one handed sword i was using.
but i'm guess for pvp, blunt/healt and shield are the way to go
Every extra crit balances two extra misses with just DW3.

Damage comes from crit, period - but as a summoner, you don't need to do that much damage yourself.
Hello,

Its great to see summoners! I being an Arcane Lord would recommend for A grade a SOM w/accumen, and go with DC Robes for the casting speed.

The Aoba w/health is a good choice too, but save up for a SOM w/accumen.

As for S grade go with Acrana Mace w/accumen, but stay in DC Robes, none of the S grade armor so far is any better then DC Robes for an Arcane Lord. Casting speed > All

im going the DD route, dont realy care about PvP with this toon.
I will stay in my BWLA+6. its more pdef then Agrade armors and it looks nice :)

If I somehow can lay my hands on a BO focus AND MS focus ill try them out both, and compare the damage.
I DO need to make the damage. I dont wanna be a passive pet for my summon. yea yea, it may be like that later, but i wanna try to DD/tank as much as possible.

btw, about focus. MS has focus. I will still have high accuracy...like 9 mor epoints then a BO focus? or something like it, and ill still have a lot more critt then Bgarde blunt. not as much as with BO tho.
just a question since i've never really played a true summoner.. mostly DD and pure mage types... but..

looking at the skill set for a Warlock/Arcana Master...

what exactly are you casting that you need a high cast speed?

perhaps i am missing something, but i don't see much more than servitor buffs, cubics and debuffs (once you reach the lofty heights of 76+)
heals ^^
all about the heals, i learned that fast, doing a full room in the cata, and then have a mass respawn and having to heal my cat so we both dont die...i can see how at high levels this would be crucial
indeed. in such a situation cast speed WOULD be paramount.

i suppose it would go to individual play style then.

do i want to be a psuedo-DD or a psuedo-healer ?

thanks for the info! i am totally interested in this class now :)
i'm with you on this one, i like being a DD(or at least a semiDD) so i just let my cat tank and i stand behind the mob and crit away and heal when necessary, but like i said, i'm still a low level and i'm sure at higher levels this class will get alot more interesting
It is true, Heal speed is a must at higher levels, where you can't tank/DD much at all with out getting OWND by mobs. You have to let the cat do all the tanking and DDing, plus my cat can reach 3000 patk when fully buffed @ Cat lvl 78! not to mention the almost 10k of HP it has! :)

That is why a weapon w/accumen + Armor with cast speed bonus is best at higher levels.

Take care.

holy smokes who needs a DD weapon with that kind of backup lol

let me ask you this:

did you, at some point, switch to this style of play? perhaps there is a point where the pet alone FAR outweighs the benefit of extra DD from you ?

what i am asking, i suppose, is it a good plan to be more of a DD style Summoner until say... 56 or something at which point you gear yourself up as the healer type?

Yes. Let me explain what I did.

-Up to 40 I played a Mage DD with Kat being summoned to recharge me.
-40-60 I slowly transformed into a +health setup with BW light and a AOBA /w Health. Kai was used from here on out because of the 10% xp loss.
-Once I hit 61 I started to switch to casting speed only with DC robes and SOM /w Accumen. To be honest I was not able to get my DC set until 67+ and my SOM once I hit 72.

Thats how I did it. Your armor I would say is more importent then your weapon in the case of warlocks.

Take care

excellent. much appreciated.
:P Why does nobody ever believe me when I say robes?

A little further breakdown - why cast speed is more important than PDef (i.e. robes vs. light)

- Casting speed prevents emergencies. You will not be holding aggro off your servitor for prolonged periods of time anyway, and that means it will be the one taking damage. Maximise your (by the way not at all 'pseudo' but quite remarkable) healing capabilities. Once the servitor is down, you will usually be swift to follow (see point two) - light armour won't save you in a situation that killed your servitor. Robes might save your servitor so you don't need to rely on your PDef.

- Once an emergency has happened (servitor dead), you are likely left with no chances out in light - it takes years to re-summon in it after all. If you're in robes, you at least have the slim chance of pulling off a resummon.

Last but not least, ES and WK simply look hotter in robes. :D

I can see your point there for sure, and it does make sense to me.

My only thought about that was this: added DD from you = mob dies faster = pet takes less damage = you need to heal less anyway.

it seems to me, from Balis' layout there, that as you progress to higher level mobs, your added DD becomes a non factor anyway.

seems like a SOLID class to me, not only do you have a couple choices of play styles, you get to evolve moreso that say.. an Archer class.. where you are DD from Level 1 and never change.

can't help ya with the whole "no one believes me" thing tho :P

maybe it's the post count - i kid, i kid...
I couldn't afford a SOM but I was able to manage a BOMT w/acu. When I do want to beat on something I still have my +7 Dama w/focus, works fairly well. Also wearing DC robes. This helps a lot when I need to cast a heal on Kai and I'm using the Dama. I still have a fair casting speed. When it gets hairy I quickly switch to the BOMT.

I found that my DD output started being a non-factor about mid'50's. Kai's Patk is so much higher than mine that for most part I really only hit things to make the cubics fire. A lot of times I don't even use shots.
Do you need SOM with acumen or could use like homu with acumen? And save money to some DD weapon too. I see summoners on Gustin running with 2-handed swords or OEd daggers too.
If needed, you can switch to acumen weapon and cast heal, or is it too complicated and one can panic and mess it up when need to switch fast? Sorry I play no summoner, that's why I'm asking.
SOM = 1 Absps
Homu = 3 Cbsps

but yes you could do that. However, I prefer using the A grade wep for other reasons as well....higher Matk, A-shots weight less, I can carry more of them and stay in the field longer....

SOM would let me carry my shield which does help from time to time.
any bigg diff majestic vs dc on summoners?
Is the DC robes and SOM route viable for phantom summoners too? Having soulless out means ur mana gets sucked dry, so spamming heals is going to get me into MP trouble.
I'd go with tallum robes rather than DC, but if you're having big mana problems, go majestic or even blue wolf robes.
already have majestic since may main is a bishop
Was replying to Tukumi. But I'll reply to you now then :p

Yes, there is a big difference, whether it's important on warlock in the A grade levels, I don't know. The difference is the +2 wit on dc, and it's definitely noticable.
Tallum has +15% cast speed and +2 WIT too if it's only about casting speed.
But DC has nicer bonus with pdef and para resist.
But tallum has the m.def bonus which is really nice.
I can say for sure at lvl55, with a warlock, my damage is NOT a none-factor. nor is my BW light. fully buffed with 58+ PP buffs, and VR/EMP, I solo a room in apostate easy, I tank 75% of the time (I lose hate when the mobs is almost dead, or if I get many adds) I never need any heals when tanking, even if I get 2-4 mobs hitting me. I do, with a +8 aoba HEALTH weapon, about 35-40% of the damage dealth to the mob.. not only this, if I would go the healing route, and my kat tank all of it, I would be out of mana very fast I belive, cuz summons have close to no pdef.
and at Agrade there are some nice weapons to get, and our damage goes up once again, a lot prolly. so I think we are still counting as a DD untill mid/late 60's. maybe then our damage is so small there is no point anymore.

with a +8 aoba

Yeah... :p

If both my pet and i are attacking i do 25% of the damage. That's not a negligible amount at all.
at mid 60's?
i have no clue what to do at 61 anymore... >.<

atk speed duals so your cubic has more chances to go off.

so ++ kesh*kesh. or ++ sls*sls.

And tallum robes is poison bleed resist, +2 wit -2 int, +15% cast speed and +8% to M df.

While D/C is +2 wit - 2 men, 50% resistance to para, +15% to cast speed. +5% to P df. +7 to run speed.(forgot to add that part)

Tallum Light is also a fair set that adds M df and more mp faster MP regen rate.
I just unlike duals... I guess i still have nightmares from back when I played my BD....

and I would never ever EVER use tallum robes on a human mystic chick.... gotta be the most terrbile looking set in the game!! MAJ robes looks awesome tho :)
yea yea yea, flame me...I want good looking toons! ;)

its just I will have major problem letting my BWLA go...at 56 i can tank pink mobs in cata (stunner rooms or medusa rooms in apostate) so in low 60's ill have no problems tanking them, will be a walk in the park...
bhaa.... i guess ill just se what happens..
hmm, scrolling true the item database a bit...
DC robes seems as the best armor for Summoner I guess, fastest casting speed? and best p.def of all robes (224pdef vs maj 118pdef, I think, counting +8% pdef for DC, and more counting all buffs and pasivs and if you ++ armor)
what about dama*dama+4 or more? +6 accuracy gotta beast 8% attackspeed from dual kesh?
Check out l2calc (http://www.l2guru.com/l2calc) for final results on stats of gar choices.

Usually, attack speed beats out accuracy - it depends on where you hunt, I suppose.
you happen to know what base accuracy weapons have?
if we say sword shave 0.. blunts have what, +5? dagger -4? what does duals and fists have. 2handed weapons?
just some info that none will read, and it doesent make me smarter either :(

Prophet lvl56+ buffs, and +4str/+4wit tatoos (may change it)

a lot of info :/

comment: Dama*Dama for sure looks nice. highest accuracy of all weps, so its possible to hit pink/red mobs as well me thinks. better crit then a blunt, faster then a onehanded (and dagger, counting duals hit twice), and best p.attack.
i use tallum too, the only i would like to have from dc bonuses is +7 speed. with tallum i gain more men. biggest mdef which help me to resist to all curses. both have the same cs bonuses. Moreover is far cheaper :P

i still use my aoba +7 /health, also 10 days ago i drop a hell knife so i always have mental shield :P my aim is a Som/acu but i dont know how i will get it :(
Elemental summoner: Buy a bow. Your cubics will be activated more than with other weapons. This summoner's cubic are activated as more as p.atk you have.

Phantom Summoner: Buy duals. This summoner's cubic are activated more with much atk speed. You'll think that the speedest weapon is the dagger, but the dagger misses and with misses you have no cubics activated.

Warlock: Buy a blunt or duals. This summoner's cubics are activated more with enough atk speed and p.atk at the same time
nice but what happen with the bow-use penalties?
Bow use penalties? I havent a summoner on c5 yet but if its like this sry about the wrong at the elemental summoner. Things have changed from c4
yeap penalties when mage classes use bow or pole......... c5 stuff

First: All cubics (except healing cubic) are activated based on the following rules:

1. For each cubics, there is a chance to activate with each attack. This chance is:
* 30%: Phantom, Viper
* 20%: Aqua
* 12%: Binding, Spark, Storm
* 8%: Vampire

2. For each cubics, once the cubic has fired, there is a reuse delay which means there is no chance at all to reactivate that cubic until this delay is up. In general:

Quick Reuse: Phantom, Binding, Spark, Storm
Medium Reuse: Vampire, Viper
Long Reuse: Aqua

PATK plays no role in the cubics. Attack speed matters the most for things with a low chance to trigger but a fast cooldown (binding, spark, storm) while it matters less for things with a longer cooldown and a high chance to trigger (like Aqua)

Second: You can activate a cubic on a miss, I've done it a lot. I saw it most noticably when playing with a TK who was low on MP so she'd pull monsters by running up and hitting once. She'd miss, her storm cubic would go, and she'd deal damage without generating any aggro. It's easy to do with a bow on my main, too, especially as I miss all the time.

Third: I am not actually sure if it's possible to activate a cubic on the second swing of the duals (each attack consists of a pair of swings). My belief is that it is not, but unless I can get my attack speed really slow I find it hard to see for sure.

As for me, my summoner either uses an +3 AOBA w/ Health or a +8 Homuk with Acumen (my subclass's weapon). I choose them mainly for the SAs; I do melee even at 75+ but compared to my summon, my own damage is relatively small. I melee for a little damage + the cubics, but I don't worry too much about pumping my own DPS. I tend to use the AOBA in most cases ( a small damage boost + survivability) but if I need to heal often I switch to the homunk.
pdef between tallum robea and DC robes is a lot...well a lot in robe-crappy-pdef-way :/

hmm if cubic trigger on misses, and not on 2nd swing of the duals, duals are out of the question, and daggers should be on the top prio list of wep ....>.<
in that case you choose between mdef and pdef ;)

pdef between tallum robea and DC robes is a lot...well a lot in robe-crappy-pdef-way :/

I typically go for the MDEF bonus over the PDEF, but in general I like light armor anyway.

I've considered a dagger; if there was one with either acumen or health I'd take it for sure. I usually pay more attention to SA than atk speed.
well as long as Im tanking I like the Xtra pdef. maybe mdef is more worth then pdef later tho.
Im kinda poor atm, stuff dont sell :( so I guess if i dont sell anything befor I hit 61 ill just borrow my mains dagger (soul sep)
Yeah, I use NM light armor in PvE. Good pdef and an mdef boost. By the way, at the highest levels, there's simply no way to tank; the summon pulls pretty quick regardless. I do often try to take a few hits to try to distribute the damage a little between myself and the summon, but except for stopping beast shot or holding down the windshackle key until I am out of MP, I couldn't ever truly tank.

On the other hand, with VR, the summon doesn't really NEED me to tank. It keeps its HP up pretty darn well for having such bad pdef.
yea well Im only 57 still, so I have no problems tanking. late 60's will be hard I guess tho. yea summon tanks pretty good, if we dont get adds. 2 mobs hitting summon and its time to heal :(
I still wear doom and tanking isn't reall a problem, in a pinch i can tank teh rift RB. Remember your armor doesn't do that much as a summoner, TP is your real armor.
