Hey i currenlty dinged 20 and am a wizard and wounder what armor(set,robe?) and weapon(2h/shield/1h?) i should use? I currently use Devotion set and Journeyman staff. If someone could tell me how dye's and enchant on armor works that would be great too. I got 2.5mil so i can aford some expensive items :).
you can't really afford a whole lot with 2.5m. sorry but it's not enough for top D weapon.
I'd get into a clan's academy and get the academy robe set. +5% cast speed and +5% to P df. really decent mage set if you ask me for a D grade armor. and probably the cheapest to get.
for weapon, well like I said you can't afford top D, but the best mage is staff of life.
Maybe if you go to giran On a good day, buy a Manguchie (which is a dagger), take that with about 500k or more AA(achient adena) you can up grade that dagger to top D and then trade across to get the Staff of Life. I do this all the time when I need a top D weapon. would cost you about 1.6m on most servers with a tax rate of about 5%.

And for the staff is it store buyabel or droop/recipe?

Second to best D grade weapons can be bought in the Giran weapon store. Actual amount may vary based on the current tax rate. (1.5 - 1.7 Million is average) To upgrade to top D at the blacksmith of Mammon (NPC) you will need 480,000 Ancient Adena. (And a second to top weapon) You can either buy Adena or Seal Stones (Redeem for AA at a dawn/dusk priest) from other players but this will be expensive. You could go to a Necropolis or Catacomb and grind your own Seal Stones for AA, but you will not be able to do this solo. It will also take awhile to get enough Seal stones/AA you will need.
It's not *necessary* to get top D, but you'll probably be two shotting mobs someone else will be one shotting, or nuking a bit lower mobs instead of deep reds.
I used a +3 shillien Knife (Mid D) for pretty much all of L20-L39, but that was a DE (Dark Wizard) and I had a pair of Knowledge gloves for the extra matk set bonus. I did however, do most of 35-39 on the half hp mobs in the Innadril area....and stayed with some lower level mobs (green) until I hit L35. (most people I know would be slamming at Deep red mobs for max XP per kill instead.)
See if you can get into an academy that will supply you with clan oath robes.
This is really one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get decent D grade armor. The Clan Oath Robe set is pretty good to, MP bonus and a 5% increase in casting speed. The quest is relatively easy and many clans will consider it well worth the investment of the 722 D-grade crystals that the armor costs, so they can have the rep points you will earn for them when you graduate from their academy.
