lol yes, it's very funny to most people that Mr. Rogers defeats everyone and is triumphant in a blood stained sweater.
Perhaps the lyrics are entertaining (I don't really know) but the music was extremely bland. I didn't know how it ended because I wasn't listening after a minute or so.
It's not music for the sake of music - it's like one of those poorly drawn comics where part of the multi-medium-art just suffers because it's not relevant to the end product. :p
Nah, that horse is beyond dead and beaten. But you kids go on enjoying your Showdowns and Macarenas and disco or whatever it is you listen to these days.
What I listen to mostly is progressive rock, classic rock, heavy metal, progressive jazz, classical, etc.
I may have some or may be tempted to buy some.
Nah, I really don't push my music on people.
... You've no qualms about denigrating other peoples' choices of music, but you don't want to push your music onto others.
That's an uncommon combo but technically can work. Don't worry Sir E, I won't let you push your music on me, but I'm always on the lookout for something I haven't yet discovered.

Here's the thing, I have a friend whom I've known since Junior High (that's almost 30 years ago for those playing at home). He and I have *never* had similar tastes in music in any way, shape or form. To this day, he still pushes his music choices on me and sometimes gets offended if I don't like it. He will ask my opinion and I will very politely give it; but only if asked. I try not to be "that guy" and insist that everyone listen to my music choices.
On the other hand, if you play songs "on the radio" or post them here, am I supposed to just not comment if I don't like them? I've posted when I do like them. I guess I just assumed that when you play your music or post songs here you are asking for feedback. Perhaps I was wrong and people only want "yes men."
I guess you missed where I posted a "kudos" to you for playing Robbie Robertson... :(
LOL! Sir E I'm not taking your comments personally. Ultimate showdown is never in my queu and if I played it even once as a request (possible, not probable) It is with the same personal disdain you share.
And yes I saw the positive comment about Robbie Robertson, which is the reason I sincerely hope(d) you would share some of your musical suggestions. I imagine I would probably enjoy more than a few of them.
As a DJ, I welcome feedback. I take comments such as "Your music sucks!" and toss it into the ole trashcan where they belong, but well thought feedback - criticism included - is always welcome.
LineageRadio is, for the most part, an amateur-based, request-driven rock station. It is dominated by the likes of Nightwish, Disturbed, ACDC, Rammstein... the usual suspects that we get endless requests for.
I do my best to try to add other things to the mix... without making the core audience feel like they've been abandoned. So when someone like you has a musical suggestion, it probably has it's best likelihood of getting air time on my program. So I ask these things sincerely, not to bust your chops. And I know you aren't busting mine, because I know what music I play.
Speaking of which, I think I'll be starting out tonight's show (The Beast farm! 12:00 - 3:00 AM ET) with my usual Friday Night mood-setter, then probably do an 80's show.
Well, to be honest (and I'm not accusing you of doing this) but some things are definitely way overplayed. Mr. Roboto, for instance. I swear to god that I've heard that song more on L2 Radio than I ever did during the '80s. It sucked then and it sucks worse now. Yeah, I get the joke.
Let me explain why I, in the past, listened to L2 Radio. It wasn't to hear stuff that I already have. It was to listen to stuff that might interest me. I am perfectly fine with wading through 4 or 5 crap songs to find something I like (except Country, immediate disconnect). That said, here's what's on my computer (bands, anyway) at work. It is a tiny fraction of my CD collection at home (yes, I buy CDs):

True story. At the local record store down the road, they have a section called "John Melloncougarcamp." I laugh every time I see it. They also have "Jefferson Whatever" but I don't look through that one...
See there ya go!. I happen to have tons of Genesis and Billy Joel for example that whhen I do play it, seems to drop my numbers faster than my acapella singing does. Things like Bruce Hornsby, Don Henley, John Mayer, Sarah McLachlan etc tend to sit on my shelf in CD cases and not get loaded onto the EHD because I know it won't be appreciated on the station.
Heck it's bad enough with the death threats I get for my 80's shows. Luckily for fans of the genre, I tend to get so many requests during a typical Retro Beast Farm that I get to play about a third of the songs I originally queu.
If more people like yourself listened in on my show, for example, and requested some of the music you enjoy, the numbers might be steady enough to justify my selections.
Luckily I have a fairly steady weekly schedule (due to my RL time limitations): Tues and Thurs 6-9PM ET and Fri 12-3 AM ET. (and the occasional cover).
If more people like yourself listened in on my show, for example, and requested some of the music you enjoy, the numbers might be steady enough to justify my selections.
Like I said, I listen to hear new stuff. I don't make requests for music I already have. And chances are if I like something that well, I'd go buy it. But I'll try and listen tonight.
You're telling me that the music in a song isn't relevant? Wow....
Yes, music in this song is secondary. It's trying to do something else. People need to stop thinking music is some sort of sacred medium that's above all the others when it comes to mixing.
