Do you have any idea how much it would clear up the total catastrophe known as "Giran"? Between stuff like this and the exp grind, I have to ask myself - Are you guys idiots, are you not interested in drawing more customers, and in turn making more money?

OHHHHH! Can we get server merges while were at it!!!???
This will NEVER happen. Why? Because it will destroy the economy.
With an auction house, everybody knows exactly what the prices are and nobody will undersell or oversell. This may seem like a good idea but when items like SoM's start selling for 90mil, and the farmers decided to corner the market and make it 220mil, all they have to do is use the auction house (which I'm sure they would probably integrate into a third party program some how) to buy all the SoM's that are cheaper, and sell exclusively at 220mil.
Anybody who wants to buy cheaper is out of luck because whenever a new SoM comes into the auction house at a lower price it's bought by the farmers.
Also anybody who sells their item would want to make as much money as possible and would sell at the new farmer price.

They're idiots, and are not interested in drawing new customers at all. Money they like, however! Who doesn't?
I personally love this game, don't get me wrong. It's like a really flawed, bad relationship with really good sex. You could leave, but you'd miss it. =)
DM! The sharkdog is back!!!!
Good to see it again hehe.
geez can we finally get a sticky on this?
or at least big - no wait enormous letters above the forum that say "SEARCH BEFORE POSTING"
That would probably be "un-diplomatic" for the illiterate who can't read the "Search" link at the top of the page :P
Besides, it would take five months for it to go through. Poor Mistryl would have to go through fifteen layers of Bureaucracy, get them signed in triplicate, and then fail the "common sense" test :P
Your replies are right up there with your idiotic little anime pictures by your names. I wanted to know WHY they didn't implement it, not if anyone had asked previously or if it had been discussed. You trolling freaks see auction house and head into a spammed reply with the classic " I'm an anime slob look at my ugly/fruity little picture under my name " stamp. Stop trolling and start READING? Did I ever imply it wasn't discussed? No.

Wow man that's really funny/cool/profound. You and your friends are so unique and unusual. Wait, actually your a *** dork, and that line couldn't be amusing under any circumstances.
Um... I did answer why. You might want to read all the replies before going off on people who didn't answer you.
Their is a reason that everyone is mocking your idea. It's unoriginal, and had you taken five seconds out of your time, you would have read WHY it's not, and should not, be added and
It is entirely possible that, despite what you feel the game should be, that it is contrary to what the developers want the game to be. Yes, they should listen to their customers. However, that doesn't mean that they must implement every idea posted. Take that for what it's worth.
They didn't implement an Auction house, centralized selling & buying location, or offline selling because Lineage2 is designed to have an economy where as many factors as possible (regarding transactions) are present. This ensures competetive (and often frustrating) gameplay.

To the OP: the above answer is why. It is a competitive economy.
It has nothing to do with drawing customers or not drawing customers. The nature of the economy puts the power into the hands of the seller, not the buyer.
This is a tough game. The only change I would want is to allow us to set up a store and then be able to shut down our computer.
This is not WoW. If you want an auction house, please go back to WoW. If you want all the wonderful (see the sarcasm there?) benefits of playing WoW, then you have come to the wrong place, and should promptly return to WoW.
If you continue to flame people because you think their avatar's are bad, and continue trying to bypass the forum censors by adding words that are missing key letters, I do hope Mistryl bans your forum account.
All that being said, perhaps you should learn to deal with it like the rest of us. Most of the players that have been playing L2 for two years or more agree that an auction house would decimate this game. If NC were to implement something like this, there would be a mass exodus to other places, Aden not among them. it is this reason that NC is loathe to add something so terrible to their game. It would cost them serious money long term, and that is not something they would like to see.
Well..Sometimes I think that as long as I have been TROLLING these boards some people would realize my views on things. Sometimes I like to post about giving us an auction house. Or giving us server transfers. Just for post count really. I dont actually mean it. On that note.
Can we please get rid of the death penalty when being pk'd!!
"Giran"? Between stuff like this and the exp grind, I have to ask myself - Are you guys (game devs) idiots,
Wow man that's really funny/cool/profound. You and your friends are so unique and unusual. Wait, actually your a *** dork, and that line couldn't be amusing under any circumstances.
first you insult the game devs, then the forum trolls and then you bypass the swear filter
off to a good start man
I wanted to know WHY they didn't implement it, not if anyone had asked previously or if it had been discussed.
That is stupid then, because if you know that it has been already discussed, you can just go back to THOSE threads and read about the reasons. It is not as if nobody has posted any explanation of what influence an auction house would have on the game.
Short version: contrary to what you think, both systems - auction houses and private shops - have advantages and different effects on the economy. It is NOT only about ease of use for the players, far more important is what influence the systems have on the prices you will have to pay for items.
I agree though that the devs finally should put in a system which allows to set up a shop and log off.
Oh, so much anger! Yes, the line is funny in the context it was posted in. =) But of course if you stopped being angry for a moment, you might have figured that.
All the good reasons it isn't implemented have been listed on the previous suggestion/discussion topics about this - which is why you got this 'trollish' response.
What made you think the question of why putting them in was a bad idea wouldn't be answered on a suggestion topic about this?
You can have differing opinions about this, but pretty much all the arguments that exist have been chewed through ad nauseum. The implication that an auction house is by default better than a bazaar shows nothing but your ignorance of the implications of both systems.
It's not just about the prices either. But go back and read those subjects.
An honest question for the OP. Why do we need a virtual eBay in this game? Leaving aside the past arguments for the moment, what pressing need do you have that cannot be filled by either the current NPC stores (Wal-Mart or equivalent) or the Player shops (Specialty stores)?

Heh, I love the "go back to WoW" responses. He seems interested in this game as opposed to WoW, I assume if he wanted to play WoW then he wouldn't be posting on these forums. He wants AH then just tell him why it wouldn't work in this game instead of telling him to go back to WoW, its a bit lame.
Yes, AH has been suggested like a billion times and it's pretty much a dead horse. However, if anyone noticed his post count, it tends to point toward that he may be a newbie to our forums and may not know the ins and outs searching topics or what suggestions have been dismembered by everyone. Cut the guy some slack on that part.
I played RF for a short time which used an auction house system. One thing there really threw me with RF's set up is you put your item for sale in the auction house and someone just came along and bought it. There was no bidding to it. Is that how auction houses work in all games that us that system? I was kinda ****** of because I set what I thought was the starting bid price very low on a somewhat expensive item and just like that it sold. Do you actually bid in other games? I still dont like the idea but im curious.

Good to see it again hehe.
I was never away. Perhaps it's you that's back...
As I beheaded a master of arms in a duel, he was burried with the common folks and his dog laid on his grave, since sensing the odor of his master.
After 3 days, the dog was lying on its side, panting. Anyone could see it was thirsty and hungry. So I went the well and filled up a bucket, and picked up low quality meats for 10 sols and went back to the grave.
I had to join my hands and pickup water to give to the dog, and after a few laps he stood up and drank loudly and long for himself.
I then handed it the low quality meat from butcher street and it gulped it without even chewing a bit. For the next 6 days I fed the dog who would not leave the smell of his former master. After 9 days, his corpse was in such a state of deliquescence (http://bibliolib.net/article.php3?id_article=206) that the molecules of scent were altered to the point the dog could not smell the anymore. He stood up and walked away.
A servent came to me running 3 hours later. Master Darkmotion, a dog won't let me into the house. Even if I lived 5 kilometers from the gravesite and with all that traffic, if it was that dog it had the nose of even one of the king's dogs.
As I arrived, it was it. So I petted it for the first time, and he sealed the deal by licking my hand, and walking into the house. I name him Goliath.
I would be happy if I could just log out and remain in shop mode within game... At least for 48 hours without re logging so I don't have to have my PC run forever. :)
Auction houses suck big time as they level prices and end the possibility to play the market.
The only usefull modification to the actual shopping system would be to create tiles on Giran's floor with 1 shop per tile.
They'd be then finally ordered and easy to browse.
Even if it's less a problem since our population is dwelling so much

They didn't do it because in Korea they have a deal with the electrical companies. :D
Auction house does not imply 'you can turn off your computer' (RFO), and no auction house does not imply 'you can't turn off your computer' (log off shops suggestion).
As the thread began with a hostile and unconstructive tone, and the other posts followed in the same tone, I am going to close the thread now. While we appreciate all suggestions, please take a look at the forum rules for more information about what is considered a constructive discussion. Thank you!
