I did plated leather and a berserker sword with focus on my sws in C grade. I whooped out some seeerious dmg. Be carefull so you dont get aggro, ´cause with PL set you dont have alot of P.def ^^
in bgrade BW hvy is best imo. weapon, you could continue with a 2handed if you want or go a crit.dmg sword with shield.
A grade and S grade I´ll leave to others since my Sws is stranded at 56 whilst I´m toying with my ES =) gogogo 76!!!
Well on Lionna DVC is kinda empty except for some sub parties .. compare that to c2/c3 where you could find 50 - 100 ppl at entrance forming parties (or just standing there doing nothing)

i dont know what u compared sws to but if it is bladedancer, u saw wrong. bd lvls faster than sws because they solo better and party easier.
dont learn charm. dont learn sword symphony.
+4str +4dex -8 con for ur lvling
plate leather, blue wolf, tallum is the ideal set from C to A if u go dmg. switch tallum with majestic or nightmare if u want to go +con style later on around 70ish.
You want to party with a Bladedancer; you will need to get good at singing right after the first BD dance because of the mp penalty.
A good dagger can be a very nice weapon. Hunter doubles your base critical rate (dex modifier*weapon base) and a dagger has 1.5x the base crit rate of a sword. You also sing faster with a dagger.
Bladedancers have a dance that increases critical damage so with fire+hunter (and DW of course) a dagger can out damage a two-handed sword. The tank weapon masteries do not add that much to p.atk so you do not lose too much using a weapon without masteries. This might change in Interlude though as the crit damage buffs are getting nerfed.
SwS are also pretty good with a bow (pvp or raids mostly because of mp use), same crit chance as a dagger but singing is very slow.

I agree with this alot.
As a BD I always look forward to a duo, or any party that has a SwS in it.
I know many different set ups that a SwS could take, some say use two handed blunt, or sword. but after you get to 49 and you get hunter, you should try to max dmg so a good crt dmg dagger works wanders.
Sword Symphony isn't the best skill (don't land alot). but it has saved my life once, so to those that say don't learn it are wrong. learn it, but don't learn charm.
Never EVER!! sing before a BD dances, BD's have a much slower MP regen rate then SwS. SwS will regen faster, but BD has 3 dances which they must have up at all times. While SwS only needs 2 at the most, some times only 1, or some times 3(PvP mostly).
I'll tell you this, if you sing before I dance, I wont dance till those 2 minutes are up. Best thing to do, is right after I dance my first dance, you should start your song, if you get good at it, your song should land right between my second dance and my third dance. then 1 more right after this.
Usely, you only need hunter for parties, and P df, or Mdf. and sometimes run speed (depends on where your hunting at). A good time you'd need run speed, is if your in a party with a lvl 77SD (spectual dancer, BD's 3rd class) thats trying to get you to the bottom of a dungeon. you'd need the run speed of wind to make your party move faster, because it cuts run speed to a low rate.
1 3 1 has always worked fine here too, if a bd doesn't dance like that he'd probably get pked :P even 7 songs/dances can be kept up without any problems with clarity and renewal
Also unfortunately there are many BDs that simply just forget to dance, doing first song seems to remind them >_<
Eynel
guilty.
I get so involved with killing the mobs, I don't realize my dances fell till I start to wander why my atk speed is so slow.
This is why I made the suggestion in that BD/SwS tread in "player suggestions". about them adding a SB at relative lvls that drops off of a RB to increase dance/songs by 1 minute. and you can learn this skill up to 3 times. to max out your dance/song time to a 5 minute useage.
Why should we have to wait till we're 76 to o/e our dances/songs, and only do it for cost and not time. I'd much rather have my dances up longer then cost less to put them up.
Specially with this new 78 skill that SD/SM get.
Just make a SB just like the one for the buff bar to increase it. 60/ 66/ 74.
That way our classes can use your mp for other skills, like sting, hex, hate, sword symphony, ect, ect...
Ya, but if it's not available to everybody, and one person has it but the other doesn't, it screws up the timing.
The idea is to get something done. worthier someone else has it or not, to make dances/songs last longer.
if they make a skill for BS/sws like this, and you have to use a book that drops off raids, then it would get people out to raid more often, right now most raids don't get farmed at all.
......... <SIGH> the spellbook idea is TERRIBLE!!!! The only way it would work was if dances and songs didn't affect each others mp usage like before (c1/2?), then I agree, but not like it works now.
Else they would have to just increase mp consumption and duration in a patch. Imagine having a level 60 bd and 76 sws in group, with different duration on their buffs, way to **** your MP..
Your arguments are piss poor, all I hear is yadi yadi, it's all for the wrong reasons, though the idea isn't bad.
I used to love my SWS. But once I got A grade... the only thing to look forward to is lvl 66 "Song of Vitality" and then lvl 76+. I felt very little incentive to continue lvling for 1 skill @ 66, and a pretty profession title at 76.
This is a good thread. All BDs and SwSs should read it as well as anyone that parties them. At least once a week I have to explain why Im only doing 3 dances and not 4 or 5, and the other day I had to teach a SwS how to sing with me, Im not picking on SwSs I also had to teach a BD how to dance with me. For some reason there are a lot of people out there that do not understand the shared mp factor for the 2 classes.
A minor correction to an earlier post... SwS are awesome to have *with you* in PvP. Same again, as a SwS, it's great to have a party *with you* for the buffs and everything. However, removing the benefits of any other class from them, SwS are no better at PvP than any other tank, providing only slightly higher DPS than a TK, and having lower PDef (all other things being equal).
In my experiences with a BD (and I have spent rather a lot of time partied with a BD), 1 3 1 with the SwS leading works just as well, if not better, than the BD leading with 3 followed by the SwS' 2 songs ( 3 2, as its called). Neither class can support 3 each indefinitely until the 70s (4 if soloing) without a recharger available.
My personal experience is that BD forget to dance more frequently than SwS forget to sing. Most probably because SwS have less to do than BDs. My pairs almost always use the 1 3 1 song-and-dance routine, so I added a macro to sing my first song, in the hope that the "I'm singing now..." announcement in party chat gets the BD ready to do her thing.

So very true. The songlist between Vitality and...mind blanking on the name of the MP Regen song... is depressing, to say the least. Sure, they have their (rarified) uses, but they aren't exceptionally useful, certainly not to bump Hunter and Earth out of the buffbar.
