The holiday event Tis the Season (http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2006/12/tis_the_season_1.html) has drawn to a close... did it make you jolly? What did you think about this event? Please place your votes below and reply in this thread with specific comments to let us know your thoughts. Thank you!
Anyway, this was a pretty wellbalanced event overall, I did end up having to buy a few trees, but they were common enough to buy pretty cheap.
Good event and thanks for keeping the hats around through January at least. (Though I would say it should be usable every December to Febuary, the winter season).
Had no problems getting trees if I really wanted them. Used up several regular trees and drop items for the Winter Gala (which was really my intent to begin with) and still had enough to make 6 or 7 special trees.
Didn't want the hat, on aesthetic principals (Yes, I'm a slave to fashion), but I was also kind of disgruntled by the limited duration it could be worn.
All in all, no real emotion either way toward the event.
Considering that these items had such little value, I thought it was pretty ****ed silly that you needed 10 small trees to make one special christmas tree. Reducing the requirement to 2 trees would have hardly unbalanced the game.
And while the echo crystals were nice, 10 different types with our extremely limited inventory space was overkill. Maybe if someone hadn't made the dumb decision to limit our ability to continue a quest only if we are using less than 64 of our inventory spaces (rather than just adding a function which checks to make sure there is enough space to hold all the additional items the quest was going to put in the players inventory) this 10 wouldn't have been as spiteful as it was.
i actually got less xp because of this event
i went from getting .29 per buff round to .22 it got to the point where i went to hunt mobs that usually give me less xp so i could actually get more (3x hp mobs ftw)
dureing the event i got 4 full drops and every single time my inventory was full which resulted in me makeing a mad dash to drop some cristmas junk so i could pick up (at one stage only 30 seconds before a gank group showed up)
And I think if you're going to have an event that has the potential to fill 15% of the highest base inventory given, you should give us a different inventory for that crap.
Don't say "You don't have to pick it up." The game mechanics are set so I either have to point and click each individual drop, or I can do the fast thing and smashy down my pickup button.
Event sucked. Drop rate sucked(way way too many drops) and sucks even more having some jack-o setting up dozens of trees near a gatekeeper in a heavy populated areas.
I wish there was an option to turn of the ability to recieve certain types of drops. Something perhaps in a Poll tag, where if you choose 'NO' to participate in a given event, you don't hear, see or touch the items from said event.
1. Don't carry so much otherwise junk.
2. It didn't give you less xp, the xp is the same, you were doing something else differently or simply spending too much time picking up.
Fishing equipment (rod, lure, luminous lure, shots, sweet fluid from the quest): 5 slots (the fishes get processed at once and the results moved to another char, so I don't have those items with me)
Basic materials: roughly 40 slots (there are 49 in total, theoretically - no point in packing them in my WH, since I tend to get a ton of different ones on the typical multi-day run anyway, so I might as well reserve the space).
That's 73 slots just for the basic needs. Add to that other crystals, soul and spirit ore for crafting shots on the run, all the keymats that drop when I'm not seeding, seals, dimensional fragments and stuff I carry around for my clannies ... and I really can't afford to lose 15 slots to a stupid event.
Consequently, I had to go through my inventory frequently and throw this useless junk away, or (in case of the crystals) use them up.

1. you got any idea how quickly a WS inventory fills up? read beneath for a slight idea
2.it gave me less xp trust me i watch my xp bar like a hawk and do time trials constantly
it can take me as little as 2 seconds to kill a mob but i was often spending that same amount of time picking up 3 or 4 cute useless presents
This event blowed last year, majority complained about it, so what do they do? Repeat it, exactly the same, with the addition of santa hats. Great, thanks... ^^
And large xmas trees are a complete waste of time if you are A grade or above - regen rate no faster at all. This 'event' is farcical.
i didnt like how hard it was to get the
santa hat... for a relaxed gamer like
me i couldnt even get one. also the
drops of cartain things were really
unblanced. like fir tree branches
were way to many and not enough of t
he others.
well if you only have 2 hours maybe a
little more on the weekend then you
wouldnt have been able to get one like
me. so you may think you are a relaxed
gamer then yuo didnt know about me. :)
*waits for a post in the shape of a christmas tree*
Actually the event was fine for me. Not something I was really psyched about, but meh - at least it was something for the holidays. Kinda wished I could turn in my excess trees for large New Year's fireworks though.
**** nukers :P
i dont haqve much of a choice everyone of my mob executions begins with armor crush
skill cost 350 hp to use so even with vr4 within 10 mobs i start running low on hp
solution? herbs
not everyone has the option of hunting non stop for 3 hours without a single heal
place im hunting now doesnt drop herbs (i should really have been here from 77+) but getting 1 crappy se heal on average every 1.2 mobs is getting old real fast
OMG. I can't even begin to say how much this event sucks.
My main is a WS with an SH subclass. As a WS I have a lot of quests active to obtain recipes and parts. My quest items occupy 24 slots at the moment. The **** ketra quests take 7 slots.
When I switch to SH I have very few slots left for the mats I get while leveling. During the event I was continuously cleaning my inventory of the f'ing echo crystals. Why do the mobs have to drop crap to screw up our inventories.
The trees can be helpful in raids, but needing 5 slots to gather the parts is a burden. Reduce the drop rate, and just drop the trees. Building the trees, before you exchange them for special trees is another waste of time.
And think about the poll questions the next time. Anyone who does PvE has to participate if they are picking up drops. You dont have much choice.
Maybe next time, there should only be one type of event drop - a present like what the items look like on the ground, and then we can open it later (if we want) and there can be beads, fir tree branches, stars, flower pots and echo crystals inside.
Actually I'm kind of curious now to wonder why the mobs didnt just drop the full tree from the beginning. That would have saved 3 extra slots right there.
I have to agree. This was a pain in the butt for my nuker that already has to carry around CP/HP/MP pots, heal pots, QH pots when I can get them, cursed bones and shot. Not to mention regular and blessed soes and then pick up drops.
