Where should I level? I'm a level 40 Plains Walker (Elf Dagger) and I am leveling slow as anything. I can't really get a good group in a catacomb or a necropolis. Where should I solo?
Its been a while since i used my PW alt, but if I recall you can try some of these places around lvl 40
* Alligator beach: hunt the alligators around there, the alligator skin quest gives you enough adena to spam healing potions.
* Wastelands: Kill the tyrants, they are green to you so you should evade a lot and save a heap of potions.
* Floran: The lizardmen around that area, again they should be green.
After you get around 43 or so you can go to alligator island and stay there till 49.
Find something light green(that is melee) and kill it til it is light blue. The Light Green mobs wil allow you to evade more and you will have alot less down time. If you are just doing PvE try to find a Tempered Mithril Set for the +4 evasion bonus, it will help alot in the grind, since evasion is going to be your main defense(your pdef and hp are rather low as a PW). It doesnt really matter which light green mobs, but 1xhp is usually best. I lvled in Garden of Eva on NOS's and Stakattos in my low 40's, then Aligator Island after that. Granted they are 2x mobs, but they are rather easy to kill once they turn green.

"Slow" is very relative. A person without some buffbots will level 'slower' than one who has one or more. Also, nukers can kill mobs much higher level than themselves for more XP and faster than a melee can. (Add a buff/recharge bot and they can do this faster than a buffed melee as well.)
If you want 'fast' xp as a melee go for mobs you kill fast. Don't do the nuker thing and solely rely on xp per mob. Also, avoid mobs with lots of dagger resists and pdef bonuses.
Outside of the areas already suggested, you might want to check the following:
Sea of Spores (Just watch out for Orfen, until you know where she is, if she is up.)
Vanor Silenos (The ones between TOI and Aden)
Hunters Valley - (The bugbear/Lakin type mobs stun, but are not aggro.)
Forest of Mirrors - There is a area with just Taik Orcs (And Taik Orc Warriors/Archers) just north of Witch's Catacomb & across the road. The Archers are evasion mobs though, so depending on your level/accuracy these will be the hardest.
Ivory Tower area - A bit higher level, but the Formor and Bugbears aren't too hard in this area either.
Avoid elmore between 40 and 50. Mobs are either dagger resist, or horrible solo. (Ragna Orcs are like Timak Troop Leaders.) Frozen labrynth mobs are more dagger/solo friendly. (Just watch out for mobs that split on skills!)
When all else fails....just wander around and find mobs that aren't yellow/red and kill them yourself.
I'll second the Spores....good concentration of mobs. I stayed there from early 40's till 46 before I headed to the Ivory Tower area. At the Spores, stay up top and just run back and forth along the whole top rim....you'll never run out of mobs.
well with my aw, almost the same as a pw, if i had buffs i would lvl in branded. unbuffed i was always at sos but that was mostly because i needed tp for my necro.
