Character names

I have created a character on my account for someone else to play, just to see if they like the game. Now, they want to play, but would like to use the character name they created under my account. If I delete that character from my account, will the character name be available for use by another account?

Correct.

As soon as it's deleted, it's free.

i tried that about a year ago, and the name is still unavailabe :/ maybe its just my luck

Someone may have taken it, I picked a weird name for a temporary alt once, and found it recently used on someone elses higher level char.
