maybe i didnt do enough trials but it seems SS has no effect on the damage pole skills do
it appears that you only use SS if you actually hit someone with a skill but the damage seems to be exactly the same except for a few points difference
nah i tested it with all my other skills and seem to do about 50% more damage
have no idea whats the deal with the pole skills or why anyone hasnt noticed yet (my guess is cause noone ever turns SS off :P )
pole skills could definately use the boost provided by SS
The only thing SS do is adding damage over your P.atk.
This is the formula for skills btw when using SS
( (P.atk * 2 ) + Skill power ) *70 ) / P.def
The P.def is your target. If you don't use SS just remove the * 2.
In Interlude it got a bit changed to, the *2 on SS become * 3, not gonna be a massive difference but will be a somewhat boost.
yup i know that but useing SS on pole skills seems to have zero increase in damage
prolly pretty easy for you to check it out (if you can drag yourself away from sub :P )

If you read what I wrote mrDionis you would understand.
This is the formula for no SS
( P.atk + Skill power ) *70 ) / P.def
The *70 is affected by many skills, 70 is the base value, each weapon have a modifier to it, like blunts, got an 20 modifier wich meens it can be 60-80 thats why you see an variation of your own attacks. As thats just P.atk * 70 / P.def ( and the variation of what I said.
If you use SS, the formula is this.
( (P.atk * 2 ) + Skill power ) *70 ) / P.def
in INTERLUDE (COMMING EXPANSION NOT NOW) the formula is
I am trying a Glaive and so far am not impressed with the
performance. My Titan Hammer does significantly more damage
against the same monsters. I am lvl 35 and have all the lvl 32
Polearm Mastery and Wild Sweep skill levels. The Wild Sweep
is pretty good, but hitting without it is fair to poor, even with SS
:(
Also, how do I target multiple monsters? Maybe I am just not
using it correctly?
You have somewherearound a 120 degree angle of attack with a pole. You just have to be facing the mobs and attacking the one closest to the middle and you should hit most of them. It is even better to drag them to a corner so they cannot move out of your attack range.
I have noticed that using pole skills takes longer to complete and in effect drops my HP down faster cause VR seems to either not work well, or it's my imagination. It does about 50% more damage than a regular SS swing. The only thing I use it for is an opening attack so the healers don't draw aggro to any mobs, but I could easily manage without it too.
VR does not work with skills, so that is why you arent getting hp back when you use them.
The polearm is a weaker weapon against 1 mob, but that isnt what it is meant for. Best way to use it is to get 3 or 4 mobs, run away for a little(or into a corner) so they are bunched, then target the middle one and attack. You should be hitting all of them(unless they spread out too far). It gets really interesting when you pull 10 to 15 mobs at a time and half of them go wait for someone to die so they can take its place in the group...It is really polite of them.
The amount of mobs you hit and the width of the angle you attack is based on whether you have polearm skills to begin with and how the mobs are lined up. If you have no pole skills, you can still get about 5-6 mobs efficiently. When you reach 40 and decide to go polearm class thats when you will see the maximum range of your weapon. If you are only hitting one mob, then you should try targeting a mob in the middle or furthest away so that you can attack a majority of the mobs in front as well. It takes a lil getting used to, but when you have mastered it....leveling is a lot easier.
Even if you are under 40 and have no pole skills..using a polearm still is the most effective way to level. You also save money on soulshots which is a plus for upgrading. :)

Glaive does the same damage as a one-handed weapon. The Titans Hammer is a two-handed blunt, so it has a higher patk. It should do more damage. Besides hitting multiple targets, the glaive probably has a higher critical rate. If you are getting buffs to increase crit rate and crit damage, then the glaive might actually do more damage over time, even against a single target.
As a Dwarf I can tell you the best weapon is a bow.
