just kiddin. CDL is a spell that does more damage when you have lower HP. The most damage of course being if you had 1 hp. It scales dramatically as you approach 1 so 100 hp will do significanly less damage than if you had 50 hp.
Explain:
1)what is it?
2)what makes it better?
3)any tips on using it to kill mobs (grind/exp)
cdl is just like a normal nuke, but it does more damage the lower your hp is (from using body2mind is the best way)
what makes it better is that it does a lot more damage than a normal nuke, the downside to this is, if a mob gets close enough to hit you once, your pretty much certainly gonna die
as for tips, i wouldnt use it where there are lots of aggro mobs, one might spawn right behind you, the next thing you know you got -4%. Preferabley if you can find melee mobs, (with high pdef?? as these generally give you more exp, and since the pdef dont matter to you, then its a nice type of mob) then those will be the best for you, also i would try to find mobs you can easy kill ie. 1 or 2 shot, you dont want the mob to be anywhere near you when your cdl'ing.
Another thing is it saves money. CDL doesnt cost more spiritshot to use ... yet you are doing a heck of a lot more damage, so in the end, more adena for you, (and faster exp).
The problem is getting used to cdl, because 1 mistake and that 20 mins work just went down the drain (plus you might get death penalty ... ;/ )
general rule for cdl is "i can 1 hit the mob and the mob can 1 hit me"
not completely true if you have good buffs (zerk, BTB, vitality, emp, dances)
basically you want to max out your damage while also increaseing your maximum hp since cdl is based on how low your hp is as a %
eg
50/300 hp = 2k damage
50/400 hp =2.2k damage
i cdled alot on my sub and i can honestly say its not that dangerous
i was actually cdling when NC added the patch to stop spells failing and its just a joke now
back in the day a spell failure would usually mean death so you remove that and you just end up with fast efficient cheap xpping with very little risk
