I decided on a Dark Elf mystic and chose Bartz as my server, however it seems that I have not run into anyone else. Are the Dark elves not a very popular race? Just lookin for some advice and new friends in the game. Can't wait to party with some cool people and join a great clan if any of you have tips for a n00b besides the ones I read it would be greatly appreciated.
The area tends to empty as soon as people level up a bit. Bots like the area. (Bots are characters automatically operated by scripts/macros).
There are many quests that will pay some money and also spiritshots or soulshots. These items when used with your attack, enhance the power. They can make all the difference.
The spiritshot (like any other) icon can be dragged to your shortcut belt so you can manually click them when you need to. Right clicking the icon will automate them and they will fire each time. A little padlock is visible on the bottom right to stop you dragging icons out during combat.
Check the adventure guildsman as he has a list of all quests for your class and any class. These will give you a reward. Sometimes it might seem a bit disappointing but it can also be useful. Apart from the reward, the quest gets you travelling around the area and introduces you to new mob.
As you kill mob, you get exp of course but you also get sp. This adds up and enables you to acquire skills, some of which need a spell book.
One tip when using windstrike or any other long range attack.
Once you've started it, you can "pan back" or move your mouse to an area back from the mob, click it, then when the attack has finished, you'll move off from the mob. This will give you some time for your spell to recharge and keeps you a safe distance from the now charging mob. You can get it to low hp and let it reach you so you then physically hit it to finish it off.
Mats (materials) drop when you kill. At first you might need to sell these to the shop for a few adena just to survive. After a while, its best to keep them and sell in bigger towns like Dion or Giran for a far better price.
Never sell recipes like SilverMold, SteelMold and Compound Braid to the shops as you'll get peanuts for something that could be between 10k and 50k.
I'm going on here lol.
One final thing. If you've some money and are looking at a weapon or armour, then go for the best weapon you can afford first. In your case, m.att mystic weapons are what to look at first.
I have a dwarf somewhere on Bartz I think but I primarily play Hindemith.

Welcome to the L2 family. Only advice I can give you is to grind like crazy to get to lvl 20 or so then move out of the Dark ELf Village. Its a starter town and not many people hang out there. Get to gludio or dion soon after reaching 20. and you'll find many more people. If ya need any help with anything give me a shout in game and ill help ya out if I can.
