The BIG MISTAKE they made since DAY1
and this is for everyone they made it
and its also the cause of all the people preferring buff boxes
to real life players
TIME ZONES
if u are from australia, there is lil chance u can play with somoene from Europe
if u are from America thee is lil chance u can play with somoene from japan
it has all been the mistake of day number one:
only American servers
they should have done like ALL the other games do
at first launch (so even closed beta)
they should have launched with:
1 american server for east coast
1american server for west coast
1server for NZL and australia
1 Asian server
1European server
and then lots of problms would have been solved
launcing a european server like 1 year after
i had a level 72 toon then, there was no way i was going to
start over again, and transferring with nothing but the toon ?
abandonning my gears ? no way
so NC, for next time, the world is bigger then america
maybe u should look at one handy thing in the future
a great invention called :
"THE ATLAS WORLMAP"
it even indicates TIMEZONES wowie
Playing on Lionna with European and US friends, i'm sometimes getting confused with all those PST/CST/CET times
I think we should really use some kind of a "Lineage Standard Time" or something, that would be easier for meetings... Wasnt there an "Internet Standard Time" at one point ? I seem to remember something like that...
Amazing how those not in Asia (Korea) were unable to play it (unless you had the hook up). :p
Its too late to fix the damage done by not having servers catering to different parts of the world for L2, but hopefully L3 can resolve the problem by not creating it in the first place.
Also, advertising would help alot for the population issues.
It's just a convinience issue
sure now it's fun to know people from all over the world
and i'm sure some people of europe will still prefer
american servers, and some americans will go on asian or
anny other server
but then the time zone will be a distinct proper choice
and also, like for the sieges hours, competition hours
they are not really fit for european hours
unless u are unemployed and dont have a life off course
But also will allow u to come home, and know, ah my friends
will be on, because , hey, we're in the same time zone, i wont
have to wait 5 hours more for them to get up
All you're doing by creating specific time zone servers is to make the problem worse, IMHO - I have very irregular times, and I know that special designated servers always have 'empty' times. Lionna certainly has 'low' stretches, but being on pretty much around the clock across the week (shifting sleep times between 11PM->3AM and once or twice a week noon->evening), I can say it doesn't have the kind of late night emptiness that always left me out in the cold on the European RO servers.
Yes, Swatch's "beat". I actually have a beat clock, but it seems like no one else does.
Oh yeah maybe that was what i was thinking about, anymore info on that ?
Well, what they have actually done is they basically split the 24 hours of a day into 1000 beats. The thing is, they adjusted the watches so that you and me have the same beat time. For example, for both of us the internet time now is arround 645. BUT, here in GR it is 4.30 PM.
The biggest problems are really in-game event times (castle/clah hall siege, manor). For everything else, you just need to find people who play at the same time you usually do. There are people online at pretty much all times of the day as it is now.
The biggest mistake ever done was that L2 did not start with Europe server right from beginning >.<
Hpe they learned their lesson and fix that for L3 and other future games.
Edit: I'm not talking about this because of separation of any nations/continents, but about siege/manor times and time-based droprates.
same here, all events occur after My 1 am time
this is verry hard to make, since that most competition times occur in my 1 am sunday, so hard to go to the hero competitions, sieges and so fall out of reach too
I did those for some time i nthe start, but my health came to suffer under it.
So health is still bigger then the game, but this makes me
and everyone else who cant stay up this late, miss like half the game.
and no staying up till 1 am is no biggie, but if u do a siege it starts arround midnight, but it ends muuuchh muuuch much later, and that is the problem.

Or you know, the old standard, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). It is after all the only timezone most people know. I know some ..err.. Americans don't know any zone past their own individual local one, but that doesn't discount 95% of the world's population knowing where they are in relation to Greenwich.
