Whats depend on tax rate?
I look glosery store in 5% and 15% tax rate, but its price is equivalent.
It shouldnt be.All items in town stores should have their prices adjusted acording to tax (they differ by castle though)
I m look for price gemstone Soul Ore (Kain)
312 Giran 15%
312 Goddard 5%
337 Dion 15%
325 Gludio 15%
325 Oren 15%
325 Rune 10%
337 Innadril 15%
312 Schuttgard 10%
337 Aden 15%
Also need to consider what the Aden tax rate is. Aden is like an "Overlord" castle. It gets a piece of the action from a lot of the other castles (But can't remember which ones now... used to show under the casle control map, but they changed that so you can't see what castles Aden has influence over any more).

Inch.
Rune,Stutgart and Goddard are part of Elmore not Aden.So they dont have a tax rate from the capital.
at 5% soul ore in giran would be 287. if every town has the same tax rate, the items would cost something different in each town. giran has the lowest prices if tax rates are the same.

the tax rate is a measurement of how much the castle lord hates the denizens of that town.
In this case real tax rate is ( price of soul ore is 250)
-----Aden Kingdom----
25% 312 Giran
35% 337 Dion
30% 325 Gludio
30% 325 Oren
35% 337 Innadril
35% 337 Aden
----Elmore ---
25% 312 Goddard
25% 312 Schuttgard
30% 325 Rune
It's because there are 2 markups over NPC price:

1. A town-specific markup on items. This money just vanishes. Giran's vendor markup is 5%, the lowest of any town.
2. The tax rate, part of which goes to the local castle and part of which goes to Aden or Rune, depending.
