Orc question

I'm needing a new lowbie manor alt, but I'm having problems deciding which Orc I want.

I just dinged 20 on the orc fighter tonight, but here's the dillema.

I already had a Raider, I know it's a good class, so I want to try a Monk......but.......on this new orc, I've used NG fists weapons and the leveling was horribly slow and boring. Then at 17 I switched to the Zweinger and went to 20 much quicker than I did with Fists weapons.

So now I'm of the opinion that Fists weapons completely and utterly suck (yet I'm still intrigued by the though of a Monk).

The question that I have is, when you turn monk and get top D fists, does your damage increases or does it still suck really bad when compared to a Sword or a 2hander?
Fists have same stats as blunt weapons and therefore when compared to a 2h sword that can crit relatively often they will not be as good. They only really get good after you get your attack speed bosts and a few fist masteries since that is when you start getting more p.attack and make other weapons obsolete.
hmm, so by about what level does a monk/tyrant starts to shine? I don't wanna have another gimped Dwarf wannabe toon if you know what I'm saying...

From the skillset, I would say that the Monk only really starts to take off at L36. (Boost Attack Speed passive) I've heard from others as well that it is a lot like Dagger classes in that the passives (+totems/skills) only really start to stack up well in in the late 40's.

If your 'lowbie' is going to farm seeds in the 22-32 range you might be better off raising the Monk to Tyrant and letting it do the higher level seeds and let the raider do the lower stuff.

...then again my 'lowbie' manor char is a LE 'Scout' that wears Brigandine armor and uses +3 Crimson*Spinebone Duals.
I can only offer that I played with a Monk at around lvl 38 or 39. He was amazingly fast, and certainly a MUCH faster mob killer than my Raider at about the same level. I also have a clanmate who deleted a Monk at lvl 33 because he didn't like how slow it was (this was in C1). This suggest that somewhere in between lvl 33 and level 38, a Monk gets a hefty boost. This is pretty consistent with what PainAmplifier is saying.
I'm enjoying my raider - she's a few levels away from Frenzy, and with crit buffs available, there's just no way a monk could compare.

The "make or break" monk skill comes at level 68 - that's what makes you crit, and that's a pretty high place to go to just in order to make a lowbie manor alt.

Before then, they're all about the attack speed - which they can maintain better then raiders can maintain their patk, of course ... but then, they don't even get that until level 40.

If you were killing faster on your monk than on your raider, I'd say you were probably not using frenzy and rage to their good effect and/or didn't have buffs.

If no critical buffs are available, they are closer.
cool thanks guys. I guess Raider again. Oh well, at least this time it's gonna be a Female raider/destro. Just gotta get used to a Green Muscle Woman with a huge sword instead of delicate fists :p
I wouldn't say fist weapons suck...

But you have to remember.

Raiders can take on groups of mobs, while monks kill them one at a time.
Raiders are single target unless they use a pole - the latter is hardly viable when manoring.

Oh and ... yeah. Girl orc power!
Tyrants get AoE as well.. but not very good at it, perhaps on 1/2 hp mobs.
Tyrants.... AoE?

Name one AoE skill?

Force Buster, Force Storm.
Clanny has a 38 Monk and he is loving it. He told me that once he got to lvl 36 and picked up the skills he couldn't believe the difference it made. He kills way fast and is leveling quickly.

I partied with a 43 Tyrant last night in Branded. Part makeup, TH45/TH41/TY43/BD44/SE48, oop pp (lvl 60pp, clannie was bored so he come out to buff us). We went as deep as you can go in Branded. It was like running a meat grinder. We kill so fast that it was pathetic. We decided that tonight we take that party to Apostate. Tyrant Skills rock!
I think what he meant by Raiders taking on multiple mobs, is they are typically in heavy armor. A monk is tough, but can't take as many multiple mobs ganking him/her, from what I have seen.
