is it a good idea to save SP's early on? should i just get as many skills as possible or focus on a few? is it possible to gimp a character by misappropriating SP's or will there always/eventually be enough SP's to max out every skill if you know what i mean?
Depends on which class you are playing, I gather that most classes have skills which can be left. If you post your class I'm sure someone will tell you which skills you should give priority too.
doesnt matter 1 bit tbh
low lvl sp is such a small portion of high sp cost by the time you hit even 60+ you wont notice it
just so you dont gimp your self at low lvls make sure you get your main nukes and weapon and armor masteries first (in that order)
then feel free to spend leftovers on whatever you want
so should i put any SP's into ranged weapon skills even if i intend to be a gladiator for example? i played this game before and that seemed a wise thing to do due the high dmg output of bows.
If you dont use a bow at the low lvls dont buy skills. If you will want to buy them later they still will be there. It's just if you buy a useless at that moment for you skill you will not have sp to buy skill you need right now (for examplle sword/blunt attack skill, wearpon or armor mastery or relax or what ever else human fighters get).
Max out your weapon/armor masteries and any attack skills that go with the weapon you are likely to use.
The fact is that up to lvl 40 you will get skills that go for the whole branch of your race and some will be useless by the time you hit the effectif class you want to be. So if you alreday know that you are going f.e. gladiator, be sure to take only the skills of use to that class and don't waste SP's on skills you will lateron regret having taken.
If you choose your skills wisely you'll have enough SP's to keep you going and taking in all skills you require to have at all new skill levels.
I know if I had known this on the first days of LII I'd not have taken many of my now useless and slot filling waste skills. Together with having to give the Sp's to level my clan up it's been a nightmare. Thank goodness it's all done with now LOL.
At low levels, I get the most important skills for my class... so for yours it would be weapon mastery, armor mastery, passives that increase you hp and regen rate and any specialized weapon abilities that YOU will use (powerstrike for example).
I do, however, wind up getting the skills I don't need as well, since they annoy me by being in the list of available skills all the time, but then again I am slightly OCD.
if you go human kight, make sure to get a single level of powershot. do not increase the skill beyond level 1 since you cant unlearn a skill you've already learned. you can use powershot, alternating with drain life, to pull mobs at a super cheap mp cost. increased levels of powershot take more mp and thus wont be of any use to you. also not that you can use any bow, even a ng short bow, to do this, and it doesnt consume any arrows.
there should be a SP quest at lvl70+ or something..for 100k sp or so...would be nice >.<
25% into lvl and i need 60+ million sp...... just for the good skills
how you doing?
i actually skiped 50% of my skills this lvl (as well as 3 of my third class skills ) because if i buy it now in interlude i will have to shell out another 30+ mil sp makeing my total sp deficit higher than 100 million sp
dwarves spend the same sp on skills as all other classes
the only difference is they have less skills
a more accurate statement would be spellsingers/necros/sws/sorcs end up with extra sp
as fast as gimp skills go i actually need all mine most classes can skip some
so far ive skipped light armor masteries (i would prefer to have those for solo) hp masteries (i would like to have those but the 2 or 3 mil sp is too much) and pole skills ( i really need wrath and could use the masteries for aoe)
if you want to suggest a skill that dwarfs dont need go ahead cause so far the only thing i can think of is siege golems and stun attacks :P
hmm,I may be missing something, but why do you need powershot to pull? wouldent a normal attack with the bow do? >.<
longer range than a regular bow attack. a regular attack with a bow will cause you to get aggro from all aggro mobs standing next to the one that you want, before the arrow is even fired. drain, in contrast is just barely outside of the aggro range of most mobs, by using poweshot level1 it becomes a peice of cake to get the "angle of approach" correct, such that you can aggro the passive mob and leave the nonsocial aggro one standing there dumbfounded. also, you can alternate between powershot and drain becasue the reuse time on both is fairly long. really, i just wanted to point out an example that there could be an incentive, depending on your class, to NOT level a skill to max, in an effort to make the OP feel better.
