ok, so far my experience with this game:

where should I start..

2 days trying to download the game and after I finally did it had to wait several hours in the client since it only downloads at 50kb/s T.T

good, finally in game, choose graphic and other options and then creating my character, only to find out I can't make a two words name for some reason..

good graphics indeed but useless if I can't pick my own keys and mouse settings for good gameplay, ok I open the options menu and in awe I cant find a single input option ?

I want to: bind any key in keyboard for spells etc and also invert mouse wheel for zoom, for some reason is inverted compared to all other games I played <_<

ah.. and after all this trouble just about 5 minutes ingame I get a message saying server maintenance in 15 minutes for 2 hours !! >_<

also can't seem to pick my own attributes when I level up ? is it supposed to be automatic ?

thats all so far in 5 minutes playing the game, not really what I was expecting from a monthly fee game <_<

sorry for bad english, thanks for reading.
Not commenting really on your option requirements, I'm sure someone else will answer that.

All I will say is L2 is renowned for being very different to other games. It's unfortunate you have started the game on a Tuesday. Maintenance happens at this time everyweek and lasts anything up to 2 hours.

Stick with it for a while. Many people who come from other games to L2 have similar issues but few of them leave once they get into it.

You will get used to the difference in gameplay and I'm sure you will love the game.

Welcome to L2 :D
To bind skills to your keyboard (F1-F12) just drag them to the hotbar.

Inverted mouse...I have played many difrent games that has zooming on the wheel and all of them has been whe same way as L2.

5min is nowhere close to try the game out. Get to lvl 20 before getting to conclusions.

Your atributes will go up, but not for every lvl you get.
Go here ( http://www.lineage2.com/Knowledge/race_human.html ) to see when you can learn skills and what you can learn.
It is worth taking your time to try to play Lineage 2 as Lineage 2, rather than all the other games you've played. It's probably different not just in its controls, but also in the eventual level progression. There is indeed little to no customisation of buttons, and I'd urgently recommend playing with your keyboard hand on the F keys and your mouse for movement, targeting and camera control. It may be awkward for a while, but I have found it ultimately one of the most comfortable control schemes for a game I have played with.

There is no 'stat build' in Lineage 2, all characters are essentially the same - you can modify your character's performance by equipping various armour sets (http://www.lineage2.com/Knowledge/item_sets.html) and other enhancements (http://www.lineage2.com/Knowledge/enhancements.html), none of which are permanent. The closest thing to a build you will find is the wide variety of classes - there are 31 in total, many of which do similar things in a different way.
thanks for answering guys, well.. I don' t mind about the game design for leveling up and related things but for me input options are a must, and no matter what, any game should have the option to change them (whats wrong about wanting to use my own keys instead being forced to use predefined ones?)

I'm playing it more but not for long if I can't find a solution for this.. ~_~

Good luck...there is nothing you can do to change the keys.
2 solutions:
1. You learn the how to use the current setup
or
2. As you said try another game
Don't let this turn you away from the game. It does take some getting used to, and I didn't like it either when I first started, but now I wouldn't want it any other way.
Get a nostromo pad if it's really that unbearable.
Haha I know the feeling. I was upset a bit first too when I found I could not configure keyboard and as I love playing any third person view games I found controlling with mouse only to be painful.

But you'll get used to it pretty fast, trust me. Controlling this game is very easy and intuitive. You have to constantly look around in game for mobs, enemies, selecting targets etc. and it's hard to do it without a mouse. Doubleclick on NPC or mob and you run to it automatically. Excellent thing, I got so much used to it that while playing vanguard beta I was shaking head "why can't I just click on mob and run to it and smack it, there is sword cursor anyway, I have to manually walk there and even face the right direction >.<" hehe.

If you REALLY need to use different keys, make your own keyboard layout and switch to it. But it's a bit useless, switching between profiles when typing chat and using skills ...
Also note the "enter chat key" in Game options, this allows you to control movement with wasd keys, but everytime you need to type something, you have to hit enter key.

Also gamepads (like Nostromo N52) or some programmable keyboards (Logitech G15, Z-board) will help you a lot. Specially considering fact that constantly having hand on F keys is uncomfortable to your wrist and can lead to pain.

Welcome to L2 and good luck, I know this upsets you but try game some longer and you discover it has much more to offer than lacking control configuration :D
nly thing that bothered me when i first started L2 was the mouse zoom was inverted
after playing L2 for so long its all other mouse zooms that are "inverted"
