A lvl 40 Elven Elder

When I reach 40 with my EE what weapon should I be using?

I've got duals at the minute but know that its not the way to go post 40.
Should I be using a staff? I have seen some EE use staffs but on occasion I may be soloing due to finding a party being unreliable. :p
Wouldnt a Homunkulus Sword be good?
any takers want to reply to that... lol
are there any other options. Or is a magic sword the way to go?

any Elven Elders have any suggestions?
I've been primarily using a +3 Homu w/ acumen for the past 20+ levels. Homu + Shield for nuking undead and for healing in party.
For soloing on non-undead (L40-52 or so), I used OE duals and spammed a whole lot of SS (very expensive and inefficient, but serviceable). Generally I prefer to keep my shield on at all times.

Going forward now (A grade), I plan on primarily using a SoM or other A grade acumen sword, and carrying a Focused Dagger for dealing Melee damage.
If you can't afford the Homu + acumen right off, a crystal staff + Mana Up is not a bad start, providing you stick to undead and party healer with a few buffs thrown in. You can get the staff in the Giran lux shop, and a lvl 5 crystal is not too hard to come by for the SA.
Do you want to party well or solo at all?
Solo is very painful for an EE, it is very very painful over 55ish.

For solo I suggest a one handed sword+shield or a two hander, a dagger also works well but you need to only hunt greens as missing is a problem. Mage swords/blunts have very low patk for solo and MoH uses too much mp for it's damage (it is also often hard to find a right level field with only undead in it).

The "correct" play style for an EE is definitely the healer in a party; usually with an acumen weapon but you can be the healer with a melee weapon if you want, most groups don't mind a slower casting healer if they also add some dps (you also cast fast already).

Some mobs do aoe stun or similar and you want to stay away from them as your puny damage is not worth the possibility of being unable to heal when needed.
I agree.
It is difficult however for me cause i have no clan. Soloing although slow and painful appeared my only option since SE's seem to be more of a popular choice in parties.

Don't get me wrong I really like being an EE due to cast speed and speed in general.
I enjoy grouping too but hunting usually occurs during the shout process of "EE LFG" and this can be a long wait.

So. I have gathered that you guys are suggesting a fighter set up for soloing? a humonculus or acumen weapon. And if I am completley buggered a crystal staff?

Any other comments would be great I am a little confused about the direction to take.

When I reach 40 with my EE what weapon should I be using?

If you've got top D duals and have no money for Homu, you can stay till 44 farming Windsus, and only then switch to nuking undeads. Windsus also spoil Varnish, if I remember correctly, which increases you chances to find a spoiler alt to duo with.

But you'd better find a caring clan.
If you're too poor for a homu and/or don't want to waste money on the three shots per heal (ouch!) go for a mysterious sword. It has acumen, and is equivalent to a crystal staff.

If you can not afford one, make an alt to get the money for it together. Moneymaking on a healer is possible, but you might as well be throwing yourself into the sword as trying to buy it soloing. ><
man i not wanna brake you but you will be sorry to ever be a EE (Elven Elder) just my 2 cents
if you realy wanna be a suport class try bishop or WC or something
Heh Abisha, that's a funny one - EEs are pretty fun to play, and as of now they are still excellent healer classes, in many situations even preferable to bishops (although not in all, or even most) as such.

Interlude will set EEs a huge step behind bishops again as healers - but then, it seems their two central buffs (bless the shield and advanced block) are seeing a huge boost.

Clarity will also become more important at higher levels with the removal of infinite self-recharge.
i just trying to help this dude for makening a mistake for his own good you cant blame me for it if he wanna play a EE i be the last one to stop him after all we all wanna play something unique
You're making it out like EE couldn't possibly be the right class choice for him - but the EE has their strong points (such as one of the best PvP buffsets in the game - two of which are an absolute must against archers and are high level to boost), and is, more importantly, doubtlessly a 'fun' class to play with lots of playing around to do in party (if, that is, you get a party in the first place).

However, I'll agree. Going healer without a good, supportive clan or a dual-boxed buffer at your back is suicide for your nerves.
Personally IMO love for classes switches constantly every time NC release a new chronicle so i'm holding tight. :D
Support classes are definitely harder to level post 50 than melee nuker classes due to dependency on a party, but... that said, more power to those that can, for without them... where would we be, except stuck boxing (yes, believe it or not, there are those that absolutely hate boxing, and hate boxed healers)... boxing is work, and boxed healers get people dead.

and badly boxed healers get people dead.

There you go.

The key is that people forget that when they box their healer the one they have to put on the 'off' computer is the DD. :o After all all you need to do for DD is make

/target healer
/assist
/attack

Macro and hit it after healer determines whether the targeter is really just targeting the right thing.

Macroing a healer though... gnarf. :p
Ghoul Staff/BTB if you want to have a staff, thats your best shot, Crystal Staff/Mana Up sucks cause you dont have enough buffs compared to your mp pool to run out of mp after buffing 9 people and still need to heal them all...if you do run out of mana there is something completely wrong in the party.

If you want to go pure cast speed go Karmian/Homu, a good mixture looks like Divine/Homu with Ghoul/BTB for buffs...but then again that starts to be costly for a newer player, and somehow I think you are.
I really don't think you need the homu unless you're going to disrupt a lot...

Less shots for the mysterious sword, means you stay in the field longer.

True, but on Sieg a homu is cheaper then the Mysterious sword...its that rare and expensive that I left it out of my post.
... 'tis store buyable. Same as a crystal staff, just needs to be exchanged...

Can I come to Sieghardt and make some easy money I don't need? :p

Don't tell me you need my go to do that.

lol what makes you think that :) I am still in lower levels but I enjoy the concepts.three of my characters are coming up to second class too so it is always good to know.
It was rhetoric. I don't have an interest on making money on your server (mostly since it's like my second/third-to-last-choice of where to reroll), I'm just saying... how can the item be 'rare and expensive' if you can essentially get it from the shop?

Well...I don't really care if you would call me arrogant for that, but having some 30-40 chars is being a newer player for me :)

What I was trying to say is that for a newer player, budget is most of the time an issue. I know it was for me in C1.
If it is not for you, +9 Divine, +3 Homu/Amu, +0 Ghoul/BTB is not only safe and decent in P Def, it will get you to BG in a blink of an eye (if you find a good clan and party's of course)

@ Maline
How the hell do I know, it's not that I'm going to buy a Mysterious Sword...got my Homu/Acu at the ready if needed.

If I get a crystal staff and find the blacksmith of mammon is the mysterious sword the first available upgrade?
How much aa is it?
It's free - it's not an upgrade at all. =) It's just an exchange. Swap it around until it appears as an option. I can hook you up with a red 5 free too - need to spread the EE love 'round Lionna a bit. ;) PM me your in game name here.

:D I was just teasing.
how kind. :) you access the mysterious sword through Blacksmith of mammon don't you?
Correct.
I was using divine up till i could afford my BW. And mysterious sword works wonders even now when i want to nuke undeads. At around lvl 44 go to forest of mirrors and nuke away - you get pots and you should be able to go without resting quite a while. Soloed from 44-52 there (except ocasional parties).

When those turned to light blue i swiched to fields of massacre. Its kinda tricky there cause the mobs themselves arent agro (except doom knights, which you can nuke), but there are some grave liches which are social, but not aggro. I just found my way nuking mobs appart from those. And its 3 shots with BW and mysterious sword. I tryed homu+Demon. It only changes to 2 shots when i have emp also, which most of the times i dont have.

Dont bother meleeing.. its painfully slow. It CAN be done, but i dont have patience to melee mobs 5 mins and inbetween whacking gotta do some healing also.

Now i have a question myself also: what gear to use in A-grade. I see different options. Sofar i've thought about Tallium, cause of the almost equalness to DC, but IMO has bit better bonus. Majestic doesnt have that good c.speed.. so what to do?
You guys are nuts. I recommend Stick of Faith w/mana up.
That way you can use a shield in the other hand.

Yes indeed with a homu or a mysterious sword you can't hold a shield...

I think I should be able to hold 2 homu swords, one in each hand, and get 2x the SA. Imagine the crafting my dwarf could do with 2x conversion..
Imo, unless you are planning on running into Necro's all the time...go with Tallum. The Casting Speed bonus is just the same and the M Def boost is a nice add. Also if you plan on soloing FoD, bleed resist is pretty good ;)

My SE still stands in Tallum, although I don't play her anymore
I went Melee, Tallum Leather and +4 dual Kesh*Kesh at first, then switched to a Soul Separator. For an Acumen weapon I use a Sword of Valhalla, Sword of Miracles are expensive.

Tallum is the cheapest of the A grade armors, and works quite well for pve.
EE's are pvp rezzers and rechargers. If you really must damage deal u will need the best nuking mana pool as possible, which for C grade I recommend divine + homonk /conversion

40ish an EE can solo dragon valley mobs till around 48. It does get costly to solo and there is quite a bit of regen time inbetween buff rounds, but it can be done solo fairly easy imo. Look for mobs that die in 1-2 nukes (usually green mobs) If you can go on the open field and get empwer herb u could probably do white/yellow mobs if ur nuking undeads.

My best suggestion for lvling an EE however, is to make some friends that are tanks/buffers and duo w/ them.
Why DV - there's no herbs dropping. No point of going there and spend 2 mins of nuking and 10 sitting. Go to Forest of Mirrors for nuking and you'll lvl pretty fast. Imo 1.5 lvls a day soloing at 45-50 is fast.

And duo EE/Tank...mmm...that duo sooooooooo painfully slow that it hurts. Duo EE doent work at very well at all. If you want to party and have no friends try going to necro/cata. Usually there's enough pole parties that are looking for live healers. (At least in Franz)

Back to my question - so Tallium works just fine? But why in pvp DC is better?
PDef +8%
Speed +7
Small decrease in chance of spell interruption
Paralysis Resistance +50%
Doesn't decrease Int.
