Am I the onlyone who playes this game for what it is?
99% of all the people on these forums playes lineage for what they want it to be. not sure if I make myself clear :/
you want to change about 98% of this game, and wont be happy befor you can make your own class, add your own skills, make your own design of armor and weapons and add whatever specials to them that you like, and you gotta be the best PvPer and PvEer in game, else the game sucks big time. thats all I hear day in and out on these forums >.<
Is there anyone out there that thinks like me, wow, this game is nice, I like the looks of it, the different classes, the pvp and the grind is ok, else I would not play this game.
Lol I'd been thinking of putting up almost the exact same post ( and yes I do post things sometimes but overall I'm happy with the game). The forum is full of complaints about what isn't right, rather than praise for what is.
And I can see the final scenario if NC put into place every single one of the requests from players to the best of their ability ........
"L2 isn't the same game it used to be, NC have ruined it, it's just like every other game now, I want it to be how it was!"
I like the game for what it is too, I still enjoy it and can't stop playing since I started in open beta.
On a side note, I'm not always very happy with the newer changes. I think the developers did a perfect job when they designed the game, and maybe they listened too much to the players and hurted the nature of L2 a bit (basically the things that made it easier : newbie stuff, herbs, elixirs, sp scrolls, brez, bsoe...).
With me being new to L2 (only playing since Nov. and my main is only lvl 54), I play the game and enjoy it immensely for what it is as well, not what it isn't. I would venture to guess that most people that post their criticisms or suggestions on changes to the game have been playing a very long time and may have gotten a little bit bored....hence why they'd like to see changes imo...nothing wrong with that (especially if those suggestions are listed to by the developers). And of course there are those "old timers" who do still love and play the game for what it is...I hope I end up like one of those. If I were to start not liking the game and wanted to make massive changes, I'd probably go elsewhere. I'm not one to say that I have too much invested in a game to give it up. It's just a game that passes the time.
Everyones entitled to their own opinion of course, some just choose to get all worked up over those opinions.
Beauty, old friendships that are still here since closed beta. The new touches of making it eaiser to level for newier players have made it nice to also see what it is like to play other classes for me, as well as bring new friends into the game.
First, thanks to god, it was my first MMORPG.
Second, I really like this game, It has a beautiful art work (Music and Graphics), a nice PVP system (has to be balanced) and the most extended Skills and Class tree.
The principal factor of a MMO is the people who play in. Unfortunately, many of my game friends have decided to deactivate their accounts and sometimes I'm alone :(
Well, mostly because my anger counselor went to this seminar...this was awhile back, after the PFA hearing but before rehab...let's see, my medications had just been increased and I was allowed to have metal utensils at meals again.......
Um, I'm not sure why I play.....I guess. WHY DO YOU ASK?
I do know ONE thing (says to voice coming from the toaster)....the game would be perfect if they would just get rid of bots! You know why they don't? Skull and Bones society man, skull and bones!!! (adjusts tin foil hat)
What was the question?
I want horses, and flying mounts, and houses u can buy, and all classes to be perfectly balanced but weaker than any character I play--and no bots and npc shops selling everything for the SAME PRICE and server transfers and name changes and archers nerfed and Dwarves forced to give up all the adena they stole from other players and thunderstorms and cheaper gear that works better and more character choices and better emotes and an auction house and new armors (takes a deep breath) and new catas and cooler mobs that drop A-grade stuff but only form eandiwantbetterhatsandmammontobemypersonalslaveand forothertoonstodiecauseilookatthembots............
other than that, the game is kool and I like it just the way it is!
(writers note: the above was a JOKE...it is intened to get a chuckle from others and in no way reflects the authors actual opinion---he gets his opinions from the microwave, not the toaster!)
---he gets his opinions from the microwave, not the toaster!)
very wise, as the microwave can go places and do things toasters cant even imagine! :p
i play this game because my husband told me to; i love the whole dang thing too! ~> (to paraphrase a statement from a news article i recently read) someones gotta play those crazy korean games that everybody hears about with the insane grindage. i love the fact that it takes forever to do anything. silly, huh? :D i always have some sort of goal to work towards!
we love EVERYTHING about this game. but this doesnt mean that arent any improvments\changes\ that canT be done.
so simple.
why i play this game? cause it gives me great thrills and many IRL friends are playing also.
why i prefer L2 than other mmorpgs?
cause its simply the best.
- pvp system (you can kick anyone anytime, no need to wait till he press ok somewhere or till hes ready)
- graphick, music, monsters, skills, efects, architecture, races...
- people that you play with
jeeh its not perfekt but... it nearly is, so we will all wait till it will be perfekt
Well one reason I play is because so many times when I've played other games I've said out loud when interacting with another player "Man.. I wish I could KILL that (insert adjective)!" In Lineage 2...I don't have to say that!

I started playing for a new game experience. I quickly fell in love with the world of Aden and Elmore as I realized that I could set my own goals and my characters could live their lives in this world, it is delightful not to have the game set goals for me.
And then I realized that I had friends in game, and that in some ways I could have unique friendships unlike the ones in 'real life'. Why? First, we already have a common interest (the game and fantasy). Second, my friendships here are not based on economic status, education, job, gender, age..and all the other constraints that I see in real life. In real life all people seem to care about is that I model for Vic Secret but in L2 I'm just an orc.
Third, I like L2 because the game keeps getting deeper and better with each expansion. There are new areas I discover every week, new things to do, new challenges...and this is after 2 1/2 years of play.
Fourth, L2 is an amazing bargin. My cost is probably something like .15 cents an hour for play time. I go to the movies, a bar, or out to dinner and I am paying hundreds of times that rate for things that are unhealthy for me...and we get free expansions twice a year!

Nope, I love it.
Every "nerf" is just a fact of life in the game. If it affects me, I adapt and move on.
I play it as a way to relax. After burning brain cells for work all day its nice to just sit and have a drink and mindlessly grind. I love the challange of the game. I play with a life long RL friend and L2 is a hobby for us. When there are changes to the game, I just go with the flow. If a character stops being fun to play, I just start another one. I dont really "race" and one to a level or to be powerful. My friend and I just seem to level at the same pace and we compete with each other. My clan is only RL friends so it doesnt take the time and dedication it did when I was in an Alliance. Its fun getting to the next level and getting new skills. The world is so big I have not even been to the C4 parts yet. As far as I am concerned it is the best game for me. I am an old UO player and this game comes very close to the variety I had with it. As for balance, nothing will be perfect. NC has done a good job with this game. :D
i started playing with some friends back in beta. we had fun, played for fun, and for us, fun was gaining skills, weapons, armors and reputation.
now that i hve been through 1/2 the game's grades, i could care less what gear i use, so long as i get to see the expression (albeit written) when i can show some new player a cool spot with nice drops, fast exp and a fun time.
i am just happy to be here, i dont need lvl 80/78/78/78 and 15 weapons S grade, 2b adena and an army of buff slaves to have fun.
considering you can have a main and 2 subs how does this work out mathematically?
ATm now, I'm playing because well I am.
I shouldn't be with all rights, but well I'm here.
I'm mostly am highly waiting on Aion to come out, I want to play that really bad, and I signed up for Tubala rasa When that comes out in Beta for Test, so who knows I may or may not be here next year.

you arent limited to 2 subs. as far as i remember youre allowed 6. that may have changed since last i kept up with patch notes mid chronicle.
Drakkos, you always make me laugh... never chuckle... but lol. I hope you do something with that talent to make money :P
This is my first MMO too... the only other game I've played is Super Mario Bros!!!! So i have nothing to compare it with... but I play it a lot for many reasons: I love the friendships I've made and the international community and the behaviorial study. This might be too deep of a comment, but I really get to take a look at myself and I always find out things about myself I didn't know and I also find out what I get happy about getting away with, which is sometimes a big surprise. The game itself is beautiful and detailed and has so many layers to it... the political system, the market, the many different races and classes and armors and weapons. The lack of judicial system, (besides EULA/GMs, I suppose) so very few legal repercussions are in place for behavior built into the game, I think is one of the best parts. We are set free in a world to make our own rules and we go wild. Good God, can you imagine if there were a legal system, laws, and courts in Aden??? Ack!!! Yeah, it's a great game. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I opened the game for the first time, but I'm definitely happy I did.
Having played most every other MMO that has been released in North America, I always felt like I was drifting from one thing to another. I didn't feel immersed in the game, only that I was there, doing things.
With L2, we have a defined game world (that is growing regularly), a massive community (one need only look at the number of posters growing on the boards), and a long-term investment.
This game is not made for the people that want instant-gratification. This can be seen by the grind for both adena (or gear) and levels. This game is designed to take time.
Another reason I've loved playing for as long as I have is the role-playing community. A lot of people laugh at us, but it is just another facet of this game. That leads to the immersion that I felt was missing from everything else.
Oh, and one cannot discount the graphics. Dear GOD but it's a pretty game. I think that's what hooked me first.
(writers note: the above was a JOKE...it is intened to get a chuckle from others and in no way reflects the authors actual opinion---he gets his opinions from the microwave, not the toaster!)
ROFL. on topic thoguh. i liked every single change up until C3 (and most of the C4 changes) you got to admit, after that they sort of went out on limbs adding crazily overpowered things to the game. unfortunately its illegal to play C3.
"L2 isn't the same game it used to be, NC have ruined it, it's just like every other game now, I want it to be how it was!"
there is something that is very, very addictive about Lineage2. every time i get a different MMO, I always seem to return to L2, now I am still gonna take a good sized break from L2 when LOTRO comes out later on this year, but most likely I'll be back here in a couple of months after that.
All kidding aside for just a moment (ty for the laughs, btw)......
I suppose an honest question deserves a legitimate answer.
I began to play and got hooked, as jkoster said, by the graphics. I'm old enough that this type of game view strikes me everyday as simply amazing.
I'd say the 'community' hooked me next.
And as theObserver notes--something almost profound happened after that.
I don't have the words for it. The 'something' certainly wasn't on the order of a religious experience (lol) but curiously....
Somehow I feel that pretending to be a cartoon character in a game has made me appreciate little things that have made me a better man.
or maybe just reminded me....
Idk--too deep for this late at night.
I find myself just a bit more understanding, a bit more patient, a bit more helpful....not traits I was long on or particulary good at before L2.
It's just a game....but it holds me somehow.....and **** me if I can explain it---it has captured some part of my imagination and caused me to pause and consider things (**** those people at NCSoft!!!! lol).
The other day a guy in a grocery store asked the service counter clerk if he could "buy one stamp"...she of course told him "no--we don't sell stamps". He looked a bit crestfallen. To my surprise I dug into my wallet and handed this stranger one stamp...and to his thank you replied, "no problem"............
In the end I play because I want to. I'm not sure I can explain why I want to............
I play because I enjoy a good tale, and this is one long satisfying tale with no immediate end in sight.
I enjoy role-playing (it's hard for me to stay in-character though)
Although the looks leave me wanting, I enjoy how the game looks.
The music... (Winamp/Yahoo music own) :P
I enjoy the aquiantances (Hi Observer, hi Drako, Hi Shei, hi Koster :) ), the friends who make it worthwhile daily.
The thrill of player versus player combat.
Every now and again I'd just travel the world of Aden on foot/boat from Talking Island to Aden Castle. Next week I'll try TI to Dwarf Village (hope none of my enemies sees me and kills me lol)
Because I can leave my pc on all night and wake up in the morning to see what got bought/sold. It's like Christmas every morning. Unless I there's a crash or disconnection.
I too was instantly hooked when I began playing L2. First it was the beautiful graphics that got my attention, as well as the music that lulls you into this world we live in.
Then it's the friends I've made and the community in general. <waving at Koster, Drak and Shadow> When the grinding gets tough I take a break and talk to friends. There's so many I've yet to meet but you see them so often you feel in some aspects you do know them.
I fully immerse myself into the characters I've made and it's a joy playing them and making people smile and laugh.
I play because I want to. I am constantly amazed at the world of Lineage 2 and every once in awhile I'll take a journey back to TI just for the thrill of it and to see how far I've come.
hmm a lot of nice and positive feedack.. maybe I just scout to much for all the negativity on the forums, or all those that are negative about the game dident care say a word in my post :/ anyway, im happy im not alone to like the game.
about changes they make that you dont like, well, its nothing you can do about it, and all changes cant be made to please you. so, I say accept them, and change your playstyle/class and keep haveing fun. thats one of the reasons I play many toons. there is always a feew toons that wull be fun with my current mod. :)
I DONT PLAY Lineage2. I GRIND Lineage2. If I was playing Lineage2 then I would be PVPing and Siegeing on a steady basis as the advertisements suggests we all should be doing.
I cant get my friends to help me in PVP because they dont want to die and lose 4%. At their levels I dont blame them for not wanting to PVP.
So again I dont play Lineage2, I grind, grind, grind and grind.
I play it as a way to relax. After burning brain cells for work all day its nice to just sit and have a drink and mindlessly grind. I love the challange of the game.
This is probably the closest thing to where I come from. Believe it or not L2 is my stress relief! :p
Though time-consuming, L2 is inexpensive when it comes to activities that keep you occupied for hours on end. Having been involved with many different sports and hobbies over the years L2 takes the prize. :D
I like the graphics, I like the depth of the skills in the game. I mean really, how many other games out there have 30 professions? I like the fact that content changes periodically, sometimes like it's a new game.
Most of all I like the social aspect. I've been playing with the same group of folks, beginning with L1, for over 7 years now. A pretty amazing thing considering I've only met 3 clannies in real life over that time. The only things in my life that have lasted longer are my 24-year military career and my marriage of 19 years. :)

So again I dont play Lineage2, I grind, grind, grind and grind.
then I have to ask, why are you still around? does anyone force you to grind all day long? sorry no offence meant, but maybe you dont have a irl life and just trying to kill the time? If you dont like lineage there are maybe better ways/games to kill time for you?

GRINDING---------- is pure --unadulturated --- stress relief...
well--- maybe a bit of escapism in it too
lose yourself in the sounds---- the bashing the graphics....
well--- you get the idea

Mooney, I coined the phrase "virtual fishing" to describe what your saying. After a hard day I agree, it is relaxing.

Me...And I'm glad someone finally points it out that the game is not to adapt to you but you to the game. I love LII and I started playing cause of the graphics, the set-up and the teamwork which it is intended towards.
On top I have a wonderful clan community with my own alliance that plays the game as it should be and enjoys the various classes there are. I love every single one of thme and I make it my duty to try and understand as much as I can about each of them in order to be a better leader to my members.
This game is a beauty and I like it's options (don't say there could be some tweeking at some ends, but nothing shockingly changing. I hate the Nerf this nerf that topics as well as the overpowered this or that fotm).
