I've postponed it long enough. Now I have to do the lame noblesse quests. I haven't activated any of the quests yet but I was told I need 500 moonstone shards to get started and I can't remember for sure all the spots to get them and I'd like to farm on my sub (Destroyer).
If I remember correctly they drop at a good rate from Hames Orc Shamans in the Blazing Swamp and from one of the Halleate group mobs (don't remember which one) on ToI 5. Is there anywhere else? I'd buy them but they go for 20K or more each now on Kain :(. I can do the Halleate mobs on my Destroyer but not the shamans it would be way too slow.
Anyone know which mob has the best drop rate for moonstone shards and are there more that I didn't list?
The Orc Shamans in Blazing Swamps have the best drop rate in my experience, thru the reagent quest. There are 4-5 different items that are inside the Reagent pouches... hopefully you'll get lucky and get more shards than blood roots, quicksilver, volcanic ash, and sulfur.
Also, in case you didn't know, you don't have to be on the noblesse-quest character to get them. I use my SR to farm the pouches, since they are a regular inventory item. You can just give them to the right char.
And you don't need them to start the quest, but to end the first noblesse quest.
About 1 in 3 shamans drop the pouches, and of those pouches, about 1 in 3 drop a single Moonstone Shard. It is slow and painful getting all the shards.

and to think at one stage i was worried about how long it would take
my sub was getting about 400 a day and main was getting 200
my sub cdl'ed there from 72-75
i done 60% of my last lvl on main at bs and when you factor in the 15% golem xp penalty imagine how many mobs i killed there
