LoL, I was going to post the exact same thing, but I figured it was a bit of a low blow. :p
He has a hard time being taken seriously by a lot of scientists.

well how would you feel if some guys that can't wipe his own *** tries to prove that a nebula 40 quadrillion miles away is made entirely of hydrogen ?
Not to bad, that was a commonly believed theory long before Mr. Hawking's fame. (from the spectral lines of the galaxies). The issue comes mainly from his inconsistancy with his own theories. His comment that we need to invent FTL travel soon also irked a lot of folk.
