I was just curious what happened? When I started playing L2 on Lionna server almost a year ago; I had the usual lag at times, especially in Giran. I expected it on the weekends when more ppl where on for sieges and such, but what happened? Now I get lag all the time and the server is listed as being "Light". I freeze up and crash all the time now, sometimes two or three times a night. I have to run my graphics on low detail to play now, when I never did it before. I have checked for viruses, adware, spyware, and done basic computer maintenance repeatedly with no results. So, I thought it was just me, but then I started asking around and it is not just me. Alot of ppl are having the same problems, so I ask again what happened? Is L2 going down in Tech support, Updates, and general maintanence issues? Is it a bigger problem that just has not been addressed yet? I am but a curious L2 gamer that loves playing and loves the graphics this game has, but if I can't see the wonderful graphics I love so much, then why play. I just want to be able to play and enjoy my gaming experience again. So I ask again, What Happened? Can anyone tell me?
And yes I do have more than enough of all the required Ram, Memory, Graphics card, Bandwith speed and etc. so it is not that.
Hope not. It was top of the line and cost me an arm and leg. I don't have problems with any other game other then L2. And I did not have problems til recently. It ran fine after C5 first came out. Just the last month or so it has went to crap.
I hope so. Thanks for trying to help :) I will just pray it gets better. I love the game to much to give it up now. C ya in game even if it is laggy. :P

You really bought a top of the line computer? I bought/made a not-top of the line computer about a year ago and it runs fine with L2, even in sieges and fraps. I'd continue to look at your computer. Main thing that leads to lag that I've seen is a lack of RAM, while it's not required or anything, I think if you have under 2 gigs you will probably lag a bit.
It has to be a computer thing.. I am running a not-so top of the line I built 3 years ago and I can run just fine on medum settings, no lag(I can even run at low settings in sieges with only minimum lag). I get a few crashes here and there, but nothing that would consitute a consistent and major problem.
I hear what your saying, but my computer ran fine until just over a month ago. No other programs give me any problems. I did reformat once just to be on the safe side, but no improvements. And as I stated before, I have found others having the same type of problems. Why would it run fine then go to crap? I just think there has to be more. But again thanks for the wonder suggestions. I am still looking into my computer, but finding nothing wrong. All tech support for my computer states it is fine. All test, scans, and searches show that it is running tip top shape, except with L2.
I'm having the same issues you're having, though not having too much trouble with lag. It's more the random disconnects/gameguard errors. Interestingly enough I'm having no trouble running WoW.
u know it is good practice to upgrade your PC on each Major update :)
I've had to upgrade twice because of L2 but mine has AMD inside. Eat that Intel. Although I'm curious about the 0.45 micron processors they'll soon be producing. Hrm I hope I got that right.
The lag has increased for sure. I play for about 10 months and lag was not like this. I get lagged even in places where I am lone with 2-3 mobs around or even at fishing (which is much worse). It is defenately not a computer issue, since my computer specs are way over the recomended. I have also noticed a permanent ping increase (15 msec) on the servers' starting screen, but I am not sure if this is server problem or my ISP's.
your lag comes from not upgrading computers Im sure.
you could start posting what computers you have, some people asked for it already.. If you have less then 1gb ram, you will always lagg, especialy in giran, even with low grapic.
I have 4gb ram on my new comp, and i dont lagg in giran. I dual box my computers so i can se what computer laggs when and where compared to my other.
and yea, diconnections are common, and no mather what you do you will get rid of them, I belive. for me they come periodicle. sometimes i disconnect every day, lately I rarely disconnect tho. maybe once or twice a week (i run lineage 24/7 sitting in shopmode in giran) I have tried to run fullscreen and windows mode, and run it windowsmode in the background. cant realy say if it makes a different tho. I ended up running in active windows mode.
All of us were noticing lag on Kain last night and I never lag. there was like a 1-2 second delay on everything. I was out in frozen lab with no one but mobs.
I am surprised that no-one has mentioned the route that your connection takes to the server. The L2 servers are in 3 locations IIRC.
Get some traceroute software and see if there's any large pings along the route. I had massive problems that were related to a Savvis router. And ISPs can change peering arrangements so your route may now take you through some routers that it didn't used to go through.
Lol my ping keeps going up. At first I thought it might be my computer but I can't see how it would keep causing the ping to rise more and more O.o It makes the lag worse but so far I've been able to take it most of the time!
your lag comes from not upgrading computers Im sure.
No you can't be sure, since you don't know my PC composition. It should suffice to know that I am over the recomended system requirements, so hardware lags are excleded.
The point is that I had the excatly same PC when I had a lot less lag. I am not talking about Giran or crowded places. I am talking about beeing in places where I am alone with 2-3 mobs, I don't run (changing areas) and suddenly I get lag spikes that last for 2-10 seconds (already lost twice beacuse of doing AoE). That didn't happen few months ago. Maybe I could blame my ISP, but if more people experience this, it's probably server releted.

That's not necessarily the case.
It could be that all those experiencing lag use ISPs that peer with a certain Tier1 ISP. This was certainly the case with Savvis. At the time of my troubles we could play on Teon (before it moved to Europe) because it was in a different physical location (Salt Lake City I believe) to Sieghardt, thus we didn't pass through the troublesome router.
