i used to play l2 back when it was released and up until c3 than decided to stop but i am getting back into it and i am haveing trouble chooseing a sever i looked at the server personalitys uder each server forum but it doesnt really specify or no user quotes i read that bartz and teon have consistent server population is that the way to go or say hindemith with the helpfull players and also seems to be the most active server forum

i think the right thing for u to do would be play like on all servers and pick which seems best after you play some time and i can recommend one or two but not those you've named cause I don't know those and play others unless you know someone you could ask or spend time reading forum 'sections' though you're right the server personality links almost all say exactly the same thing and are very old if you play a server where I am playing just because you pick my server at random please don't type anything to me in game.
You could just go back to your old server where you have your character. You will then have access to all his gear and money (or even pick up where you left off). Also, there might still be players you know on those servers.
Otherwise, Bartz has the largest NA population, Teon and Franz are Euro time based with Franz being the newest server.
Also there have been several threads with people asking which server they should choose so you probably can get a pretty in depth view (well... as much as one can get on a forum) from that.

well of course it's up to you but really it depends on what youre looking for in a server like if you're looking to play with a lot of people or if you want a less populated server or if you're looking for only pvp or if you're looking for friends to have other kinds of fun with really though if you want a quick glance at server communities you might want to check out the server forums at l2blah.com to try to get an idea on how things are on each server just be careful cause 90% of the stuff on blah is useless oh and punctuation is fun
are you in euro timezone or american i guess you could be asian as well i suggest you choose teon or the new server if you are euro any any other server if you are american and dont bother playing if you are in asian timezone all servers are basically the same so just pick any and have fun

just pick any of the american servers which are basically all of them except teon and franz
cant really say what are the high population servers but depending on who you ask all of them either have no players or tons of players
forget the fact that you will prolly never see another real player for your first week thats just how the game works, we just dont really have any genuine noobs any more
once you hit 20+ move to dion and you can find heaps of other guys to party with and if you want to be completely freaked out take a walk to giran
here's my usual noob tips
1. go post in whatever server forum of the server you join, tell them you are new and ask for an academy invite
do not accept an invite for any less than top NG weapon and armor and academy armor and a mid D grade weapon at D grade
2. learn to manor
3. dont get ****** if someone kills you it happens to everyone at lower lvls
4. get newbie help, buffs and shots at the newbie guide
well i chose bartz because of the high server population statement under the server personality post
and it seems to be the right time to join with the posts on the forums saying that there is a few alliances
trying to overthorw the main allaince that controls the server
and im lvl 10 now and ive been pked 2 times already and died 2 other times

Well, unfortunately, a higher population means a larger number of griefers but should also mean more targets for them (and you get left alone). Hope you're enjoying your return!
