ahhh high school

let's share some of our best/worst high school stories.
i have 2 awful instances that i've experienced.

one of the teachers at lunch goes up to a student and tells him to pick up the mess he left. The student then shouts back at her "That's what ******s are for" (our special kids are in charge of washing tables & trays, but hearing it like that is bad o.O)

and we also happen to be betting between ourselves which famous person will die next

anyone remember anything like this in their school?
All I remember is the "in" crowd making my life hell. I remember fighting off the idiots all because I had low self-esteem.

I remember learning to fight dirty, just to survive.

Hmm... and here I am in Lineage, doing the same thing. Go figure.
school sytem here is a bit different from america if what my friends tell me is true
here we have clicks but even the nerds could be the cool guys and noone seems to pick on other just because they are different for whatever reason

my particular click was what i would describe as the nothing click
basically it consisted of the pure average of what my school was composed of
we had 12 different nationalities everyone was averagely intelligent, of average fitness and although each person had their own strengths noone was really out of the ordinary

we could however turn a racial slur that could put us in jail in the right country
funny thing was noone ever got offended no matter what was said
the Jocks was the major click . everybody who played sports or was playing them was in it. wel almost everyone. not a lot of fights either and the was just 2 years ago. almost everyone could hang out with each other. but there was some who everyone hated and would tell to go away or hit them if they didnt. same with the lunch table. everyone in this click sat at one table.

i dont really have ay stories that i can remember at the moment but i will tell you them if some do.
Ahhh wahhhh I wanna go back. High school was so much fun and I got away with nearly everything.
I graduated in 1982. High School was not terribly memorable. It was, however, the first school that I went to for more than two years (I went to the same High School all three years).

**** same here
before i went to high school my average school stay time was 6 months
i went all 6 years to the same high school

i went all 6 years to the same high school

Charles De Mar: I've been going to this high school for seven and a half years. I'm no dummy. I know high school girls.
thats a long time... of course im young enough that i only have 4 years in high school and not when it was 5 years of high school.
I only had 3 years of high school...
I graduated High School in 1985. I'm sure my old school is different now, but when I was a freshman, there was still a strong 70's influence, so a lot of people (seniors mostly) who were still associating with that 70's look.

Then the 80's fashions hit and hit with full force.

I have to say, there weren't a lot of issues in my school. People pretty much just did their own thing. Then again, it could have been the school I went to... somewhat affluent, former farm community in Connecticut.

Not to say that there weren't any issues. But it was pretty peaceful for the most part.

I hope that teacher removed that student. Probably should have made him clean the tables. :)
i was part of the nerd group in HS. VP of chess club, captain of Academic Olympiad team and so forth. I was raised on a farm though so i kinda made sure nobody picked on the nerds in our school after i dislocated a dude's shoulder. Our school was also really supportive of us. If you were one of the top academic students you were given the same treatment as the football team.

I only had 3 years of high school...

:eek:dont tell me you dropped out...

Nope. 2 bachelor's degrees.
I went to high school in Massachusetts. Graduated in 1970.
My best memory aside from my wonderful girlfriend, was
our assignment for spring semester English my senior year.
Reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy, it was great. Things
were pretty laid back in those days :)

then how did you... oh man im confused now
Many junior highschools cover 9th grade, with high school covering 10th-12th.

Let's see, my biggest memory was probably all of Senior year. Went so fast I hardly remember it. I had to save up to buy a tux for proms. Was tough to do that and make car payments x.x

yeah i prolly confused you guys withe the "6 years at highschool thing"
in australia high school is years 7-12, we dont have junior high
the only exception is/was queensland where their year 7 is actually a part of primary school

to get back to my click aspect of australian schools
i was considered the athletic person in my group, i began highschool as an averagely overweight overacheiver and by year 12 i was contemplating an amateur run at bodybuilding, that was ended by an unfortunate motorcycle accident but thats another story

at the same time as i was training with the then australian bodybuilding champion you could also find me in the library playing chess with the 5 unit (advanced) maths and physics students or smokeing some weed with the guys who were on their 4th try at grade 12 (dont do drugs btw, those are bad and im quite serious)

maybe it helped that my school was 90% vietnamese and chinese but there was absolutely zero discrimination
everyone was on equal footing which made highschool kinda fun
I attended a private school, so everyone dressed the same, had roughly the same family income, and came from the same region. People had their groups they sat with for lunch, but nobody was ever shunned from joining in on the fun.

I attended a private school

Is that what they're calling Juvenile Detention these days?

Sounds pretty boring tbh. But hell beat being a nerd in HS like I was! (still am a nerd :P)

Best memories of HS had to be when we crashed the classroom's network (yay for crappy 386s!) and made our business tech teacher cry. Another teacher came in, yelled at us and called us all "little monsters" I liked programming and 3d animation class better anyways!
Aanother instance was when I told a supply teacher she had inadequate teaching skills and I stormed the class leaving her stunned. Funny thing was my real teacher came back the next day and at that night's parent teacher interview she laughed while telling my folks what I did :o

Class of 2003 FTW!
High school was pretty hawtsome, I had a lot of fun on my way to graduating in 1999.
I was in a ska band (think fast raggae but performed mainly by white kids with guitars and horns) of certain local renown. High school groupies are ravenous. We landed a few gigs at school dances, as well as a few high profile gigs- the more rewarding of which being the official pep band of the playoff run for an IHL League hockey team in Fort Worth. Oh, and a gig for the Girl Scouts which paid in COOKIES.

Back then I was involved in a lot of extra curricular stuff often while holding down a minimum wage job. Eventually I started to feel the squeeze because I was overextending myself, so I gave working the axe and devoted my time to the extra curricular. I wish things were that simple nowadays.

over here every school - even public schools have a school uniform
there was however a problem with the laws and if you had the balls not to wear a uniform you could get away with it
basically you wouldnt wear a uniform for a few weeks and after countless threats of getting expelled the principal would tell you " ok you win we cant force you to wear uniform, but please dont tell anyone else"

i kinda liked my uniform cause i looked hawt in it but i did use that trick so i could wear my favorite jacket which was not in the school colors
Ewww...uniforms.

Shirt and tie, suit coat when needed, esp for masses.

One fun thing, we'd find guys who would wear big pants sagged down too low, grab them by the belt and carry them up the steps between floors. Kept us from having to look at people's boxers all the time. Makes me miss the old days...minus the working my *** off for crappy wages.

Oh, and I was a nerd in every meaning of the word. Chess club, Junior Engineers, Math Team, I just did a dozen other things that would make me a jock or student government. I pretty much lived at the **** building.
I was the jock type who bothered to study. Between football, wrestling, and track it didnt leave a lot of down time. I went to three different high schools from the midwest to Cali to Guam, and I wasnt even a military brat. Was a learning experience going from being the majority (midwest) to the minority (California) to the mega-minority (Guam).

Luckily I learned how to fight cause back in the day in Guam being a white guy could be painful. Doing sports didnt hurt either. However it was just my father and I in Guam where if you are tall, white, and keep your hair short no one cards you. Took my dad to my favourite bar once and he just stared at me when the bartender knew my name. (No it wasnt Cheers it was Tahiti Rama's)

Two funny experiences:

1. In California a popular radio dj came to do a promotional pep rally. He asked to wrestle someone from the team so they chose me. I picked the guy up and slammed him on the mat. From then on no one bothered me as I had earned major props for doing it. Not only that the dj quit taking calls on his show for a while because the school was harrassing the dude for letting a white guy (forgive me here) pawn him.

2. At a school assembly my senior year in Guam some jackholes were causing a ruckus. A teacher turned to me and said your a senior arent you going to stop them? I turned to her and said your a teacher arent you going to stop them? She said I disrespected her and since she was a class advisor I soon found myself off the Senior Class board. My father got so ****** (I didnt really care) that he called the principle and the next day I was back on the board. As we say in the military that teacher was missing a piece of her *** from the chewing she got.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention like all the movies we hung out at Dog's Day, took strange oaths, and dated Jennifer Hewitt look alikes by writing stupid love notes.

I remember an assembly of all our year ten graduates (at the time you took your certificate at year ten, then either went through to do the higher certificate or left) being called out in the main quad, I don't even remember the reason why it was called now (it was over ten years ago, **** im getting old) but the year adviser was in tears and the principal stood up there and told us in all ernestness that we were "the worst year to ever go through that school in it's history"
I also remember most of us were kind of proud of it :)

I was in a ska band (think fast raggae but performed mainly by white kids with guitars and horns) of certain local renown.

Ska... that's bands like Less Than Jake and Sublime, right? Were you the person that played the trombone?

Were you the person that played the trombone?

Whoa, good guess. :D I did play the trombone. When I wasn't straddling it and riding it around the stage like a wooden pony, anyway.
Yeah, ska was one of the genres that Sublime performed, Less Than Jake is another good ska band. For another semi mainstream (and freakin' talented) ska band, might I recommend Reel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPxlenE-kic) Big Fish? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLAv0QyeEQA)
I graduated in 96, I don't remember any thing terribly horrible in HS other than not standing up for certain things or to people/teachers/etc. Guess that's just part of growing up :) Wasn't a very good school though, but I was in honors classes so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

And Fatter Than Albert, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Big D and the Kids' Table; My friends are really into ska, one of them even got his own trombone! He has yet to take a lesson.
