ok me and my wife have a 34 DE mage and a 34 DE archer type, with a lvl 40 outside SE.
We are horridly sick of breka's stronghold, and we are hoping for something a bit faster exp-wise. Since breka's stronghold seem REALLY slow for some reason (I hope there is a place that will go faster than that lol)
We have decent gear (+4 top d weaps and +3 top d armor), so please keep that in mind :)
if youre both going to kill together, try IvoryTower crater. the mobs outside the crater area suck, but inside the crater are some 2x'ers and some high defence mobs that will require both of you to kill.
there is also the aligator isle, and the orc just outside Oren. watch out for the orc troop leaders. they really do lead troops. and they are very good exp.
Hmm...personally IT crater isn't all that great for your Duo. The mobs are 40+ and the aggro/concentration is pretty friendly...but half the mobs down there are (Greater) Arrow resist and others are Magic resist. (Golems and Gargoyles)
Timak Troop Leaders spawn 3 mobs when hit. A fighter, an archer and a mage. This isn't all that great with you being 2 ranged chars. Plus those are all 43-45 1x hp mobs. (Much harder than the Breka's you were fighting.)
And Alligator Isle! Ummm....I'd wait until you class change before going there. Other than the Aliigators themselves all the mobs on that island are 2x HP or Group mobs. Again 40+ (Very Good after 2nd class...not really recommended before.)
Alligator beach, just north of Innadril, but still on the mainland, has some Alligators and regular Farhite that would be fine and not incredibly more difficult than what you've been doing though.
Hmm...I'm going to go out on a limb here and say your not spamming shots too much, or at least your hunting mobs much lower than people who normally do so hunt. So with that in mind here's my thoughts.
1) Inndril region. 1/2 HP mobs in the field of Silence. Leinruks and Ogres. A bit higher level, (38-40)) but being only 1/2 HP they aren't too hard. The XP on the Ogres and Leinruks is very good though. The ogres stun and the Leinruks have a strong alternate nuke attack which is why they have higher XP for their level/HP. (Make sure you got some decent Mdef!)
The regular Tsaba Lizardmen and Shamans might be a bit too easy of a pushover and the Snipers hit hard enough you might want to avoid those. (1/2 Hp again.)
If you go farther south into the Field of Whispers, the Crokians, Dailons and Rakul are worth checking out. Although it's the tougher Nos and Fahite which could take you much farther. (2x HP) Possibly the Lageos/Pageos Duos on the far South/West edge of the FoW would be workable for your party.
2)Oren area. There are a few too many 'party' type mobs in this are to be a blanket recommendation, although there are a few spots that aren't too bad. The Lizardmen just north of the river are good, and there aren't any of the plains groups until you go farther north. There are a couple of Timak 'camps' free of Troop Leaders to the west, but finding a good spot can be a pain. (40+ as well) The outside rim of the Sea of Spores is another pretty good spot. Only the Dire Wyrms are aggro on the edge, and the Fungus and Eye's are only social with themselves. (40+)
3)Hunters Valley. The karul Bugbears are excellent for XP, and non-social/non aggro. Good enough that at times you could have a bit of competition for them. (There are only really two generals areas where they are found as well.) The tamlin orcs in that area are non-aggro, but social.
A lot is going to depend on your mage having their L35 skills really...I wouldn't get too far ahead until you can learn those. Once you have those, you can hit the 40ish mobs without too much problems in your duo. You may want to stick around the Brekas or Just plain old Death Pass until you hit that.
When you both hit 40, your options on where to go will expand quite a bit. (after class change) Although, you might have to hunt for those Spellbooks a bit first for the DE.
It's not the new skills you need, it's the update to your main nukes. Not only is the extra power good, the higher level means that your much less likely to run into the dreaded 'Spell failure' that comes from nuking mobs above the level of your skills.
And if your going to be killing mobs closer to L40 that helps a lot. The extra level of fast HP/MP recovery don't hurt any either.
